What is getting you through these early weeks? I was wondering as some of things that have been good for me have been suggested by friends and I wouldn't necessarily have thought of trying them.

  1. Lucozade (for when nothing else is possible).
  2. French Fries crisps
  3. Watermelon (in slices or juiced as a drink).
  4. Yoghurt coated raisins.
  5. Ready to eat dried mango slices.

Anyone else care to share their guilty secrets ?

Dry Shreddies
Cheese rolls
Lemonade ice lollies
Frijj (vanilla with DS, chocolate with this one)
Toast, toast and more toast

Sympathy to anyone suffering, thank god I never have to go through that again!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 16/04/2009 20:40

urgh I remember going of so many foods. the smell of the fridge made me retch.

I went right off tea and I usually love it so I felt at a loss most of the time without anything to drink. I hate fizzy drinks usually but I loved orange juice mixed with fizzy water.
melon really helped to rehydrate me and wasn't unpleasent when it came back up.
warbutons thick sliced white bread toasted with butter.
apples.

Longtalljosie · 17/04/2009 09:09

Twiglets
Rice cakes
Milk
Ginger biscuits
Porridge

Bicnod · 17/04/2009 09:18

Yuk - the first 16 weeks were rank really hope those of you suffering find some of the things on these lists help you through it...

what helped me was not very healthy and not indicative of my usual diet (honest!):

  • orange lucozade sport
  • cheese sandwiches/plain pasta with cheese on
  • weetabix with chopped banana, milk and sugar
  • salt and vinegar crisps
  • barley sugar sweets to suck on commute to work to avoid puking over smelly garlic men (why does your sense of smell go into overdrive at the exact moment that doesn't help?!)

i also wore those seasickness wrist bands religiously - not sure if they helped but anything is worth a shot!

Leannabanana · 17/04/2009 17:48

proper oat porridge
mashed potato with cheese
wholewheat pasta with cheese

erm....thats all i can think of that actually works for me....

ooohh no, weetabix does too...

spats · 18/04/2009 14:46

Chewing gum but only the mentos one. It was the only thing that would take the horid taste from my mouth which was making me feel so sick. I would sit at work and disgretly chew for hours on 1 bit of gum.

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/04/2009 15:01

What is it about fast food French fries?

Mine are:
Melon with Greek yogurt
Bananas, more bananas and more bananas
Cheese
Fruit gums
fast food french fries

mumof2andabit · 18/04/2009 15:19

Fruitpastels · 18/04/2009 15:28

Bendylegs I was eating McDonalds french fries and choc milkshake at 11am this morning - just what I needed

Original Lucozade
Plain bagels and butter
Mars choc shake (gone off choc but this is lovely!)
Yop yoghurt drink
Jordans oats & strawberries
Pasta and fresh tomato sauce
Ice lollys

Fruitpastels · 18/04/2009 15:29

Fruitpastels · 18/04/2009 15:31

EyeballsintheSky · 18/04/2009 15:32

Chocolate milk
Full sugar lemonade

And no fecking ginger!

MayorNaze · 18/04/2009 15:39

lemon lucozade

ketchup on rice or scrambled eggs

MayorNaze · 18/04/2009 15:40

oh and cherry coke.

normally i do not drink fizzy drinks ever but cherry coke really hit the spot

i used to hide it at the back of the cupboard and have a sneaky swig while pretending to look for something!

Katiei · 18/04/2009 15:42

Apples, but had to be either pink lady or cripps pinks
Banana sandwiches made with wholemeal toasted bread and eaten v. slowley!
Weetabix but only because I realised that it tasted the same on the way back up as it had on the way down!
Anything with chocolate made me hurl- IMO one of the main indictators that I was expecting a DS as surely no girl would be that mean

funtimewincies · 18/04/2009 18:58

I've lost all desire for alcohol with this one. With ds and all the mc'd pgs I still wanted a glass of something nice in the evening and made do with no-alcohol beers. This time I'm even struggling with tea!

Ds is 2 and a half and I have to snack sneakily as anything I have, he wants, and all the things that I have at the moment, I don't really want him to be snacking on.

And he thinks that the sight of me with my head down the loo is REALLY funny .

I have just polished off 2 bags of Mcdonalds moozzarella dippers. mmmmmmmmm

lljkk · 18/04/2009 19:28

Depends on the pregnancy -- although no milk, bread or salty products is a common theme to all.

DS1:
canned peaches
dark chocolate
soya-based chocolate dessert

DD:
salt & vinegar crisps
dark chocolate
fried egg
tuna mayonaise
gherkins

DS2:
can't remember, except NO GARLIC.

DS3:
humus
guacamole
potatoes
no chocolate!

MayorNaze · 18/04/2009 19:33

remembered another one - kendal mint cake!

takes away the icky taste and gives you energy.

i had to put myself on rations of the stuff

funtimewincies · 18/04/2009 19:40

Oooh, now that sounds like a good idea mayor! White or brown sort?

OP posts:
MayorNaze · 18/04/2009 19:45

white. i liked white anyway...whatever works for you? i did think of donning a disguise though as i was going to my local outdoorsy shop far too frequently...clearly i wasn't doing any fellwalking in the near future...

changer22 · 18/04/2009 19:48

Coke and...

Pickled onion monster munch.

Fortunately the morning sickness only lasted 6 weeks this time so I din't get too ill!

Even reading this thread makes me feel queasy. Brushing teeth anyone?!

nydublingirl · 18/04/2009 23:10
  1. Kelloggs Red Berries
  2. Cheese quesidilas (could make them quickly - before smell of kitchen made me sick)
  3. Saltine-like crackers

YanknCock - did you get Katft Mac&Cheese in UK? I also reverted - was so happy to be back in US for 10 days at wk 8 - ate everything I grew up with. Went off tea - my theory because I didn't start drinking it til I was mid-twenties.

Stormfly · 19/04/2009 07:51

Sympathies to you. Or should that be empathies?

DS - Pepsi

This time round:

ice-cold fruit

ice-cold yoghurt or chocolate soya dessert (eaten very slowly with a small spoon)

cheese

potatoes

Frappacinos (am avoiding coffee so have chocolate with extra shot of chocolate to make it taste more bitter)

(Keeping this post short - in the habit of not talking much so as to keep my mouth clamped shut most of the time - roll on 12 weeks!)
