Bit gutted - sonographer referred to baby's gender at 12 wk scan

Had our 12 week nuchal scan today and am over the moon that the baby is healthy and all measurements were as they should be etc. We told the sonographer that we didn't want to know the sex, but at one point during the scan she said "oh she's such a wriggly baby". I know it doesn't matter and we really don't mind whether it's a boy or a girl. But I so loved the moment that DD was put on my tummy after she was born and they announced that she was a girl. I was just really looking forward to that moment at the end of this pregnancy and after a hard labour!

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone and they've ended up having a surprise anyway?

Hi twoshakes, my sonographer refered to the baby as 'he' throughout my first scan at 13 weeks (I didn't notice tbh but DH picked up on it). I just assumed she was using a generic term as I thought 13 weeks was too early to tell. I don't want to know either but I wouldn't get too worried about it - they get it wrong at 20 weeks sometimes so even if the sonographer saw something and let it slip, she could very well be wrong. You'll still get your surprise I hope!

My concern now is that baby is in some weird exhibitionist position at 20wks which means we know for sure what it is even though we don't want to know...

At my 12 weeks scan sonographer was referring to baby as 'he', at 20 weeks different sonographer referred to baby as 'baby' and then found out it's a girl at 26 weeks so suspect it is a case of using anything but 'it'
