33 weeks pain and no movement?!

Hey ladies, I was just wondering if anyone could bring me down off the ceiling.
At lunchtime I had about 2 minutes of stitch like pain in the lower left of my bump that really stopped me in my tracks but have just realised that I haven't felt baby move, not even a wriggle, since then. I am currently drinking some ice cold lemonade to try and illicit some movement but nothing yet and I can't stop stressing!!

Bumping for you

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 21/01/2009 00:14

phone the maternity unit and ask for advice, they are really good and will take your concerns seriously. Even if you have to go in and be monitored for a few hours it will be better than not knowing and fretting all night. I really feel for you, had this with my dd at 35 weeks and I know what a worry it is. I'm sure the pain and lack of movement are unrelated but always better to have a chat with a midwife with any worries.

Has the lemonade worked Emma?

emma2617 · 21/01/2009 00:32

I just had a slight wiggle at the bottom of bump as if baby was shaking his head! I am still on my left hand side sipping lemonade, I am trying to get the recommended 10 movements in an hour just to allay my fears. I just need a little more reassurance from baby!!

I was just about to go to bed but I'm now waiting for baby to move properly for you. Come on baby!

blinks · 21/01/2009 00:44

god this has happened to me with both pregnancies...

don't be worried about calling maternity ward if you're worried. the 'stitch pain' sounds like ligament pain but keep monitoring.

Lubyloo · 21/01/2009 00:58

Hope you have felt some more movements. If you are still concerned please call the maternity unit. They would rather you ring them and go in for monitoring than sit worrying at home.

I went in for monitoring three times with DD. Each time the monitor was showing movements but I couldn't feel them at all due to her position.

ninedragons · 21/01/2009 01:06

Ten times in an hour isn't always the standard. This gives some other information for kick charts.

Just didn't want you to worry yourself sick if you don't get 10 movements in an hour. The baby could just be asleep. But do call your midwife, to calm you down if nothing else.

I found the movements really slowed down around 33 weeks - I assume the baby is getting quite cramped in there by that stage.

jacx40 · 21/01/2009 01:09

Hi - cant agree more about ringing your unit!!!! Have you tried other ways to get movement - all 3 of mine usually responded to music - x

emma2617 · 21/01/2009 01:11

Well...I have felt another couple of wriggles which were more full baby wriggles, still not the recommended 10 though. I think I will see how the rest of the night goes....its just he is usually most active in the evening!!

Thanks for the words of wisdom, I will call hospital in morning if he hasn't wriggled to my satisfaction!! Do you know where it is I would ring? The labour and delivery ward?

Good to hear full baby wriggles - If waiting until morning ring your community midwife - if decide to ring before surgery hours ring labour suite and they will redirect if want you to speak to someone else

whatever happens I would still definitely ring your community midwife to let her know about this so she can reassure you, be aware and maybe just check baby heart rate and also give you full info just incase you get a repeat episode - piece of mind is priceless sometimes!!!!

Good luck x

blinks · 21/01/2009 08:32

i agree with jac- get baby checked out anyway. GPs have access to the doppler or midwife.

if in doubt, ring maternity ward.

JustKeepSwimming · 21/01/2009 08:38

How's the movement this morning?
You prob aren't up yet as you were up so late last night.
But hoping you are reassured and/or ring the hosp for a bit of monitoring just to set your mind at rest.

DustyTv · 21/01/2009 08:50

Hope your baby is moving more now emma, I had this lots of times with DD, she was a complete wriggle bum, seriously she hardly stopped moving. When I got to about 32 weeks she had a day of only 4-5 movements and I was so worried. I called the maternity ward and they told me to come in and monitored her heartbeat for me. I did this about 6 times if I remember rightly towards the end of my pg.

Do go in and get checked out, if only for peace of mind. The MW's would rather you go in and it turns out to be nothing than not go in.

Hope all goes well for you.

MrsY · 21/01/2009 10:21

Hi - just wanted to say I've been told 10 movements a day. I can't feel my lo internally, only with my hands on my stomach, and in my experience the DAU at my local hospital have been brilliant as has my midwife.

I'd always say to call them to be on the safeside, but I'm sure it's nothing to concern yourself about.

auntyspan · 21/01/2009 10:25

Hi Emma - i'm sure it's 10 movements a day not an hour....and yesterday my wriggler was v quiet too for some reason, and then woke me at 4am this morning headbutting my bladder!

Give the midwife a call though.... always best to get checked out.

emma2617 · 21/01/2009 11:43

Well...I had a couple of wriggles last night but nothing yet this morning. The community midwives round here do drop in clinics so I think I will go to one of those this afternoon so she can check me out and listen to heartbeat etc, if she wants me to go to hospital for monitoring then she can send me!

I just told DP that I am going to see the midwife as I didn't want to worry him last night, so he is now worried despite me telling him not to! Fingers crossed all is okay

i'm sure all is ok... they can get themselves into positions where they can't move as vigorously and also have sleepy days. baby's got less space now too.

Lubyloo · 21/01/2009 14:05

Hi Emma, Hope both of you are ok.

laweaselmys · 21/01/2009 14:06

Hey, emma hope you are okay! Hopefully he is just running out of room in there.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 21/01/2009 15:58

How are things? hope it's not like with me when I went in for monitoring at 35 weeks when baby stopped moving and ended up having the baby that evening! still, all is well now so I did the right thing by being checked, in fact it saved her life I've been told. anyway, hoping it all goes smoothly and you're back home with lots of kicks etc.

Jacksmama · 21/01/2009 17:28

?
All good?
How are you and babe?
