okay i have posted before about being confused about scan dates anyone that can clear this up 4 me id b so grateful xx

I know scans are dated from your lmp, so does conceptions occur about 2 weeks after they think you had a period? how is a pregnancy counted is it counted from implantation and then two weeks back to where your period should have been? or from when they think you concieved and the two weeks back to your period at which week of pregnancy does the egg implant in the uterus? would this mean your period was two weeks before this time? someone pleaseeee explain xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

yes, she has posted the same question a multitude of times

i think there is something deeper going on

trolling/attention seeking/issue of paternity, i don;t know

but meh, can;t get that riled about it

Your dates are irrelevant as the baby comes when it's ready.

Even going by a scan date, it can still be out by days depending on fetal development. LMP is used to give a rough approximation of when you're likely to be considered term.

The only time to worry about dates is when you go overdue the EDD because then it has implictions for induction.

WRT conception, I would echo wht everyone else has said and say unless the issue at hand is paternity it makes no difference to your baby when s/he was conceived.

Speak to your m/w about your worries, please, that's what she's there for.

Astarte · 14/01/2009 17:34

Btw regardless of age, you come across as rude in your last couple of posts.

sparklingreactions · 14/01/2009 17:36

i dont mean to berude i just dont see how people can pass judgement when all ive asked for is for a few questions i dont understand to be answered.. regardless of my age i should be treated the same as anyone else and i just dont aprecitae being made out as a fake or a lier because im confused about an issue.. i thought this site was to help eachother during pregnancy and i have just needed a few questions clearing up it just upsets me that some people have to pass judgement on something they know nothing about thats all xx

Hi Sparkling Reactions,

I have OCD too and it doesn't go well with pregnancy, does it?! I think a lot of people probably don't know this kind of worrying can be an aspect of OCD, so that's probably why you got some of the responses you did.

Hope you are feeling better now. I used to wonder why they dated it from the date of last period, but I've just accepted it now...far more worried about giving birth, having a baby etc!!

Take care and if you are feeling a lot of anxiety or your OCD is getting worse, please talk to your midwife or GP.

xx

Lulumama · 14/01/2009 17:43

am sorry if you feel hurt

you hvae asked the same question a dozen or more times, it is a bit unusual

sparklingreactions · 14/01/2009 17:43

thanx MsG, I have spoken to my MW and i thought i was coping okay. obv not as well as i thought haha ill jus try and chill out abit its hard to unfocus my mind on the subject though is there anything you did to ease the anxiety xxx

OP posts:
Astarte · 14/01/2009 17:44

and as I undertstand it you've had those questions answered..more than once. You say it yourself it's more anxiety.

Why not try talking to the m/w about your worries, they will be supportive and help you to understand as well.

People don't appear to be passing any 'judgement', what judgement are you referring to exactly. Everyone seems to have been rather patient and understanding and moreover polite.

Age has nothing to do with at all, people will respond to you as you respond to them regardless of how old you are, how much money you earn, where you live etc.

sparklingreactions · 14/01/2009 17:46

i dont really want to cause any uncomfortableness on here this site has always been a huge help to me throughout pregnancy and i dont wish it to be anyhting other I sincerely apologise to all i have upset and want to forget about it all now sorry girls xxx

I've been having acupuncture to help with my anxiety, and tried to keep moderately active by walking quite often and I'm going to start going swimming regularly too, soon. I'm trying to sleep a lot too, as my anxiety gets worse when I'm really tired.

Have you ever had any CBT or anything for the OCD? x

sparklingreactions · 14/01/2009 17:52

I think ill try a few ante netal classes like yoga i think they might help and no iv never had any CBT i dont really know what triggers the OCD but this pregnancy has seemd to make it alot worse xx

MsG · 14/01/2009 17:54

Yoga is meant to be really good - I've borrowed a DVD but not tried it yet!

I would ask for some CBT if you are struggling - it can really help - I've had it in the past. I know pregnancy can make it worse - probably the hormones. Hope it settles down but do keep an eye on it and get help if you feel you need it. x

Northernlurker · 14/01/2009 18:27

sparkling - it would be a good idea for you to talk to somebody about your anxiety and the OCD. Being a parent is a marvellous thing - but is also a very unpredictable and messy thing. If you speak to somebody now you may be able to put some strategies in place for when you need it. Please keep posting - everybody has stuff they just don't 'get.' I understand the whole conception timing thing - but it still means that the medical profession date a pregnancy to two weeks before the mother know's she conceived! How off the wall is that eh?

The spring is a lovely time of year to have a baby and I'm sure you will be a great mother.

NorktasticNinja · 14/01/2009 18:44

Good advice from Northern there, take it
