23-24 wks & sudden damp/wet underwear & jeans.. help!!

Was in tesco, suddenly felt v damp, thin liner, & my underwear & time we got home my jeans slightly too!

DH aksed what was up as apparantly my face went all funny..

Just home, I have an overwelming urge to be sick, lower weird nggly sensations - kind of crampy, kind of different but no pain at all.. I feel very werid, no pain, no discomfort, just strange, and kind of spaced out, not relaxed, not panicked..

I am assuming it was discharge/pee But there was no colour/real odour..

Am I ok to sit it out at home for a few hours & see what happens or should I try and see someone now? If so, emergency GP, A&E or find number for the Maternity ward, I have no clue! But they're all in the same building which is about 35mins away by car, then there's ds to get looked after..

Sorry for the silly question & Thanks!

Phone your MW or the maternity ward and ask their advice. You may well need to go in straight away - is there someone close by who can look after your DS?

Neeerly3 · 11/01/2009 14:33

for peace of mind ring the 24 hour number for the delivery suite....explain symptoms on the phone, they will do very quick assessment and get you in to check u over, maybe even a scan. It could be your waters going, or equally stress incontinance - have you had 'leaky' moments before?

I have been hugely uncomfortable for 2 days now and I'm 34 weeks, resting seems to be helping, but as soon as I do anything remotely physical I get a real ache down below and have to stop.

MissyK · 11/01/2009 14:33

The MW's don't work weekends So will find Maternity ward number in the phone book - I should really have it I guess..
Have some family close to the hospital if they're home, will have to get dh to call if I need to go in.
Hoping it's nothing..

they must work weekends

just phone labour ward at hospital....

best wishes

MissyK · 11/01/2009 14:36

Neerly3 Nope, this is the first leakiness.. And I was having a good day too, no aches or anything until the sudden 'uh oh' feeling..
The aching does seem to be getting stronger now. It's the feeling of needing to vomit which has got me equally confused
I am a freak & will be sent away being told I'm a silly woman hopefuly!

there will be a number on your notes

MissyK · 11/01/2009 14:37

no community midwives from my doctors work evenings or weekends, everything has to go via hospital - i find it a bit weird myself..

Ring the labour ward number on your notes and ask to speak to a midwife.

They're there to advise, you don't need to be in labour to have a chat or see them, I rang them and went in due to abdo pain at 34 weeks on a weekend.

Pinkbump3 · 11/01/2009 14:49

dont leave things two long just call the mat unit that you use or at your local hosp and speak to someone. good luck

solidgoldsoddingjanuaryagain · 11/01/2009 14:51

Leaking PLUS nausea PLUS pain doesn;t sound good - the maternity unit is there to help you and even if there isn;t anything wrong they won't mind reassuring you. Please phone them NOW.

purplemyrtle · 11/01/2009 14:51

Sorry meant to say 24 weeks

I would seriously phone the labour ward at the hospital and I am sure they will tell you to go straight in.

Good luck.

BlueSapphire77 · 11/01/2009 16:35

Yes they will tell you to go straight in to check if its your waters, this happened to me two weeks ago and i am STILL swearing it was water and not that i wet myself but they said at hospital my water still intact...
Only one thing left to say : It was not wee!! lol

WorzselMummage · 11/01/2009 16:47

This happened to me and i just rang the labour ward and told them i was going in, they have a special triage team who assess people when they go in. The will be able to tell if its your waters or wee, or discharge

Try not to worry, keep us informed x

mrsdisorganised · 11/01/2009 16:58

Hope everything is ok, good luck

MissyK · 12/01/2009 05:53

Hi ladies, sorry it's taken me so long to post back!
Well I was told to go to the maternity ward, put on a monitor & I'm contracting, there's lots of fluid but unsure if my waters are leaking slightly.
They have given me drugs to attempt to stop the contractions and I've met the paediatrician incase I do go on to deliver..
I have had 2 due dates, but the one they're working on here doesn't make me 24 weeks till Wednesday But if things are still going on then I will be given steroids for the babies lungs. Hoping it won't come to that and that they can stop things totally.. Then they say I'll be looking at a lot of bed rest and check ups until I deliver, ideally after 28 weeks at least if not 34.. But no one can tell what will happen right now.
I am so glad that I came straight in and urge anyone else that has any concerns to do the same, it's scary but everyone has been great!
Will keep you updated when I can.

Fingers crossed for you Missy. Let's hope he stays put - do you know it's a boy?

Will be watching this thread for lots of good news.

HelenBurns · 12/01/2009 06:35

Oh bless you I hope things calm down and he waits a bit longer.

Thinking of you x

MissyK · 12/01/2009 07:00

Thank you. Yes I know it's a baby boy
MW just been in, and said because of where I live if they think I am going to go on to deliver I may be moved to Liverpool Womens because of it's where the little one would stand the best chance with their SCbu and if he required any surgery . I live on the isle of man and we only have a small hospital.
Seeing the consultant in a few hours
