H&M straight leg jeans, with the big stretchy panel over the bump. I've had actual compliments on them - not much maternity wear you can say that about!

littleoldme · 23/12/2008 09:49

Likewise - H and M jeans and a pair of black work trousers form their. They are the only things that were comfy right to the end. I got compliments on my jeans too.
Also, Blooming marvellous do T shirts that are nice and long with ruched sides in stretchy jersey material. Fab.

littleoldme · 23/12/2008 09:50

that should have been ' trousers from there' I'm an English teacher FFS

MarkTheHeraldAngelsStretch · 23/12/2008 09:50

Bump bands.

Am 33 weeks and still managing to wear my normal tops layered with bump bands. And I am not small.

babyOcho · 23/12/2008 09:51

I got some black trousers for work with a strechy panel. They were so comfy and versitile. I saw them in the loft the other day and I miss them

My winter coat was very good as well (gap), but I got really good use out of it as DD was a March baby.

The cords that I got were rubbish. Comfy but wore away at the thighs where I got fat

babyOcho · 23/12/2008 09:53

Ah yes, those bands are excellent.

The bella band I had kept me nice and cosy. A lot of my friends thought they were a great idea, not just for pregnancy, but for when you ate too much!

The bella band really did keep your trousers up.

treacletart · 23/12/2008 09:59

some normal cotton/lycra boob tubes. Used as tops, supportive nightwear, to convert any top into a breastfeeding one, as a stretcxhy comfy mini, to layer under tops to cover midriff gaps without getting sweaty....

dinkystinkyclaus · 23/12/2008 10:02

My nice flag ugg boots - I live in them!

Other than that, black stretchy trousers and some pretty bright tops.

Mumof2Pregwithtwins · 23/12/2008 10:31

Hmm - some great ideas. I've never worn a boob tube before - but I'm tempted to rush out and buy some - sound fabulous!

I'd forgotten about H&M - have bought a lot there in the past - perhaps I'll go and have a quick look today.

I have a pair of trousers from New Look over the bump and they are the best trousers I've ever owned very comfy, I'm only 15 weeks and already in mat clothes, bought the trousers and various tops from new Look and prices are great!

Simplysally · 23/12/2008 10:35

I had leggings, jeans and black trousers plus umpteen bras.

It's a toss up between my maternity swimming costume - vital if you want to do ante-natal swimming or the black flowery knee-length dress I bought in DP which was my "posh outfit".

Mumof2Pregwithtwins · 23/12/2008 10:38

I'd forgotten about the need for mat. swimming cos. Right - that's it - I'm off shopping now.

Black stetchy Next trousers have been very good, as have their jeans. They are just about the only two pairs of trousers I live in. Also a couple of stretchy v-neck long sleeved tops from Jojomamanbebe - kept on wearing well after pg as were really comfy and because stretchy weren't really like maternity ones.

christmosschops30 · 23/12/2008 13:14

Go on the next sale, they have loads of maternity jeans and trousers for about £8-£10 plus tops and nighties and stuff too.
Ive just bought some and not even pg yet

MsG · 23/12/2008 13:30

Can anyone give some advice on what size belly band to get? I'm about a size 18 normally - but not sure if I need 16/18 or 18/20!
x

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 23/12/2008 13:36

I bought a lovely wrap cardi from isabella oliver. Yes it was pricey but it's the only thing I still wear!!

I wore it whilst prgt and it expanded as I did. Used it as a coat when the weather turned. I used it after ds 2 was born when I carried him in the sling and I still use it now and it looks great at 18 months old. I'm 12 weeks prgt and will use it for this prgcy, sling wearing and beyond. I also still wear the rouched (sp?) turtle neck tops from the same place. Everything else was packed away at various stages as I outgrew them.

BouncingTinsel · 23/12/2008 13:47

I bought a M&S 6 piece set from Ebay - all black, a long line jacket, sleeveless tunic, long sleeved tunic, dress, long skirt and trousers. Really comfy and made up my work wardrobe until I went on leave.

Mandy73 · 23/12/2008 13:47

I'm not a trouser person so:

M&S black PG tights.
Emma Jane PG briefs.
A couple of tunic dresses you can dress up or down (with buttons so I can BF in them after).
Comfy ballerinas.
Fake knitted black uggs.

EachPeachPearMum · 23/12/2008 13:52

Formes double layer tops are brilliant- give you such a lovely shape.
Their trousers are good too.
Expensive, but you can get them on ebay, and they are excellent quality and wash really well.
Red Herring have good inexpensive things too.

ChippyMyrrhton · 23/12/2008 13:53

big pants

notcitrus · 23/12/2008 14:13

Long stretchy skirts from M&S - not even maternity wear but wore the 2 i had all summer. And black sandals that do up with velcro! Hardly wore my maternity trousers and concluded underbump ones are crap anyway.

goldenpig · 23/12/2008 14:29

Black flared leggings from Blooming Marvellous - they are the comfiest thing ever - reach up over the bump. Wore these from 5 months on, so comfy.

Also, you will get a lot of wear out of mat clothes for a few months post-birth, so it isn't really a waste of money to get a few things that suit you and are comfy.

I would get your usual size, not a bigger one as they build in the bump and boobs to the size.

wellbalanced · 23/12/2008 14:45

My best buy is bump bands so far, im still in size 10 tops and jeans (button open!) with bump band inbetween Im 24wk today.

SparkyMalarky · 23/12/2008 15:26

MsG - am an 18 too - get the 16/18 size - you want it to be supportive

I've got some wideleg jeans from Blooming Marvellous - fabulously comfy and can be dressed up or down !

Ebb · 23/12/2008 15:38

Jeans and cords from H&M were very comfy. I got a couple of wrap around tops from Blooming Marvellous and a couple of vest tops which were great. I was lucky that my boss was 6 months ahead of me and passed on all her maternity clothes when she'd had her DD. She had got a lot of larger size 'gypsy / smocky type tops from New Look and Primark which were all in fashion at the time.
