I think its harder becos you already have a dc.

biglips · 26/06/2008 19:58

its true cos i only get a chance to sit down about half an hour in the morning (as im sooo knackered after walking to and back from dd preschool but its only 10 mins each way but i feel like ive walked and walked!!!)

and then i sit down again for lunch and tea and now

I am finding it much harder this time too, biglips.

I am 28 weeks and its been a long hard slog to get this far and its only going to get harder with my 5 year old finishing school for the summer hols in 3 weeks and I'm just going to get bigger and more tired than I am now....

I think it is partially having a child already that makes a MASSIVE difference to the tiredness/time issue. Also, I am much bigger this time (I am not much smaller now than I was at full term with my ds!!!) and am finding things a struggle already i.e. bending down, lifting my ds, shopping, cleaning etc

Cant say I feel awake though - my house is full of post tis becasue if I dont write it down it doesnt get done

bluewolf · 26/06/2008 20:06

this is the same as me (now have ds 6yrs and dd 9mnths) - when pregnant with ds I spent most of the time asleep or looking for 2nd hand mat bras, now I have to get up early to do breakfast, dress him etc etc and then walk them both to school....there is NO REST!!!
But I'm hoping ds will help look after his sister a bit (he already is the best at entertaining her) There is light at the end of the tunnel!

biglips · 26/06/2008 20:06

becaroo - oh god!...dont mention about the summer hols as im dreading it too!. i feel a relief when my DD goes to her preschool every morning as i can switch off abit.

Yes im bigger too this time round but feel like im carrying more than one!....

this is a planned pg and im moaning about it....i cant win!

yousaidit · 26/06/2008 20:08

Def agree, I'm pg with dc2 and dc1 does not allow any 'relax' time at all until their in bed, by which time dh is getting home from work and i need to get tea on and do the stuff i can't do in day because of dc's swallowing up all the time known to man; IT IS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SIT DOWN!!! I just want half and hour with a cup of tea stretched out on the couch!!!!!!!

becaroo · 26/06/2008 20:11

I know just what you mean - I had a mc the week before xmas and was devastated and was so shocked/delighted to get pregnant again straight away - but the reality of this pregnancy has been constantly feeling ill and no energy at all for my dh or ds....I feel so selfish and ungrateful when I complain about pregnancy related things because of what I went through last year and, although dh is great, he really hasnt got a clue about how hard I am finding it this time round.

My poor ds is going to have a very BORING summer hols!!

biglips · 26/06/2008 20:25

ROLL ON SEPTEMBER!!!!!!

ooh i feel abit better now!

i was peed off before as i ended up yelling at my DD who wouldnt go to bed and i ended up in tears! my stupid hormones..i hate them!

Big hugs Biglips. I completely understand what you are going thru. I loved being pregnant wth ds1, but have honestly hated it this time. Ms, exhaustion, achy bits etc the list is endless. I do feel a bit guilty thou as this was very much a planned baby and I know I will never do it again.
Your dp sounds very understanding x

chocbiscuits · 26/06/2008 21:35

Not good the second time around - I agree!

carrieon · 26/06/2008 21:46

More hugs biglips. I'm so when people talk about maternity leave - I have no paid breaks from looking after dd full time and summer just means no swimming lessons, singing or toddlers to break up the days! I also have suspected spd and need to buy some slip on shoes this weekend coz I'm struggling to reach!
One thing I find helpful though is thinking how much worse it would be if I had to go to work and then do all the housework on top of it. I just have to focus on being a mum, to dd and the new baby, and if we're all in one piece at the end of the day then its mission accomplished!

jearund · 26/06/2008 22:24

Biglips I sympathise too! Although physically I'm doing much better this time (no backache yet) I'm much more tired than last time. I'm working part time so go to work in the morning (5 days a week) but it's not that that is tiring as I sit at a desk! It's when I get home and have to look after DD while DH goes to work (he works shifts). I am finding the only way I can get through it is if I leave work even earlier than I want to and have a nap at the same time as she does. Can you do that? I find the days I get that nap it really makes all the difference. BTW I am 27 and a half weeks and also think I am bigger than this time last pregnancy and starting to find the bump is getting in the way of bending etc!

DebitheScot · 27/06/2008 09:24

I sympathise too, I'm finding it harder this time. Last time I was working full time and now I'm only doing 3 days a week but am feeling physically more tired than before. And I'm bigger too. And the acid reflux is worse.
As I'm a teacher the summer hols are good as it means no work but I still get paid but I am also thinking its going to be hard work having ds 5 days a week instead of 2. It's also annoying that none of the toddler groups are on over the holidays either.
It is getting hard to pick up ds too.
Apaet from 2 weeks when she is away ds will still go to the childminder once a week during the hols and I am looking forward to those days so much!

mum2go · 27/06/2008 10:51

hi there i was working full time the 1st time around plus overtime at weekends,
this time i,m still working but less hours and stopped doing weekend overtime sooner than last time

biglips · 27/06/2008 10:56

hi biglips, can relate to you. i have a 4yr old DS and i am 10 weeks preg. feeling so tired, crabby. plus i cannot take my regular hayfever medication, so i am permanently sneezing and bunged up. keep waking up at night cos i am so bunged up cant breathe. on top of all that, i am so queasy...

i know that i am so lucky to be pregnant and all these symptoms mean that my little bean is ok. but a small part of me cant help but think why is this so hard?

biglips · 27/06/2008 11:08

heron - i was exactly like you as i had hayfever/permemant cold for about 5 months, was forever sneezing and nose was bunged up (you should put a nose strip on when you go to bed as it feels ssooooo good!) and had a mild MS too.

In my first pg...i had no symptoms apart from being tired.

Yes we cant win, can we??
