I have been feeling so so sick from about 1 week after conception - now I am 7 week plus 5 and still feel so sick everyday (but not been sick).

Have tried Ginger biscuits, Ginger beer, mints, wrist bands. nothing works any ideas on whats worked for you. I will try anything.

My GP was lovely, never laughed at me and got me admitted straight to hospital with hyperemisis when needed. Then signed me off works when I came out, and prescribed antiemtics. So GPs aren't all bad - and he's a middle age man!

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 20:46

citrus ice lollies
cherryade
travel bands round wrists
sometimes, occasionally, Polos

but mainly...
swmimming! yes, really it was the only time I didn't feel sick, must be something to do with gravity? not sure, but it was a hell of a relief for an hour a day.

oopsyoopssydaisy · 25/06/2008 20:46

ginger made me want to puke even more

AdeleFielder · 25/06/2008 21:12

I was told to try and eat some biscuits before you even get out of bed in the morning, so i barely sat up enough on my pillow and ate about 3 biscuits, giving your body something to get going on before you get up. then after about 10 mins or so get up and i think it helped a tiny bit. Good luck, adele

Wisknit · 26/06/2008 08:48

eating eating eating helps me.
7 weeks ish with no 3 and havew just bought loads of ryvita as I don't want to blow out like a balloon. I also found sipping fizzy water helped.
Apparently chamomile is good too. Haven't had the degree of sickness i had with the other 2 and have been drinking a mug of cham. tea every evening to help switchoff and sleep. Maybe a link.
Just try everything and hopefully it'll get better

jessia · 26/06/2008 09:17

some hugely expensive Italian wholemeal salted crackers in silver packets . Kept them in my bag all the time and grazed constantly.

mum2oneloudbaby · 26/06/2008 09:24

sorry for you it's awful

i had "morning sickness" for 35 weeks of my pregnancy and nothing really helped other than grazing constantly.

but hula hoops or wheat crunch got me going in a morning not the healthiest but it got me out of bed.

i avoided any dairy first thing until i had something else in my stomach because i was guaranteed to be sick if i ate yoghurt or drank milk which was my staple breakfast before pg.

i hope yours passes soon.

gillythekid · 26/06/2008 09:26

Try P-5-P from a good health food shop, it's a B vitamin that is the best kept secret for pregnancy nausea. I'd try an independent shop as the staff are more knowledgeable. Good luck.

minouminou · 26/06/2008 10:22

My GP laughed as he was prescribing Buccastem (works a treat), because i was barfing 5-6 times a day, and was getting dehydrated.
you can only take these up to 3 times a day, but they give you a window of 2-3 hours each time in which you can eat/drink/work/clean.
Give the little and often food a go first, thoiugh, as that might do the trick.

Sarahpo · 26/06/2008 10:42

Hello I feel for you as i was sick constantly for 12 weeks, I have been sick at every train station in North Herts, it was all day every day but for some reason fruit flavoured tea seemed to help, especially blueberry or raspberry. I actually lost weight at first and went down a dress size i couldn't even look at the fridge without throwing up and then BAM! at 12 weeks it just stopped ahhhhhh. Do not eat ginger, i did and it burns your throat really badly on the way back up and that is the same for ginger bikkies which i barfed up.
fun eh? it will get better....

MrsMattie · 26/06/2008 10:42

No advice, sorry. I had the most horrendous morning sickness ever until 15 weeks into this pregnancy and nothing worked. You have my deepest sympathies!

jenniebee · 26/06/2008 11:02

i had 'morning' sickness all throughout my pregnancy and found the only thing that helped it a bit was eating starchy things little and often. all the other things did nothing to help. hope it all clams down soon.

EachPeachPearMum · 26/06/2008 11:37

I have found carbs help- pasta and potato dishes, and not to let myself get too tired- its definitely much worse when I'm tired.

So, thats about 3 hours a day when I don't feel rough

wonderstuff · 26/06/2008 11:40

My GP was really sympathetic, bloody brilliant, suggested ginger and antacid, gave me anti-nausient (sp) as I was being sick, offered to try acupuncture if that didn't work, really worth trying, there are some things you can try..

Dondletella · 26/06/2008 12:07

Acupuncture really worked for me. As soon as I started feeling sick - had a specialist treatment from an experienced therapist and the sickness never came back.

Strongly suggest anyone who is suffering with any pregnancy related illness to try this - its been around a lot longer than any western medicine (!) - and very effective but gentle.

Also if anyone is having trouble with indegestion & constipation - yoga and reflexology are really helping me deal with these.

P.S. I'm a first timer - pregnant at 40 and have felt generally great so far - only a bit tired. If I can feel like this there is hope for us all.....

RuthChan · 26/06/2008 12:15

I found toast and marmite was the only thing that I could eat.
Eating small amounts often really helps as I always found that I felt more sick when hungry.
It is really horrible, but it will pass.
(I threw up every day through the whole of April and most of May, but now I feel fine!)

ukrainianmum · 26/06/2008 12:16

Red bull. One can a day with lots of ice.A glass would last for me from 3 to 4 hours, drinking with straw. I was the only thing that helped me. or intro-venously drips with glucose.i felt sick for about 4 months and then i had other bigger prblems like obstetric cholestiastis so morning sicness fadee away

chelseamorning · 26/06/2008 13:22

I tried listening to the 'Morning Well' CD through headphones. Here Worked fairly well. The more you listen to it, the better it's supposed to work.

Pandapants · 26/06/2008 13:32

So sorry for you, its grim. I was sick (feeling and being) all the way thru this time and the things that helped varied depending when it was in the pregnancy - at one point I was actually eating a Macdonalds for breakfast on my way to work(not recommended but it was the only thing I could keep down ). Dr gave me something for two weeks which helped (sorry can't remember name of medicine), she then said I probably shouldn't be taking it (argh)and then prescribed Gaviscon which really did help. Eating little and often of whatever you fancy is the only thing that helped. Good luck, its worth it and second best to having the baby is not feeling sick anymore!

anneblythe · 26/06/2008 13:42

Oh I sympathise. I've been feeling sick all day since week three, I'm in week nine now and I've read that it's often the worst week. The mornings are bad but the evenings are much worse, and night time is horrible too. It helps if I eat just before I go to bed, even though I don't feel like it, and if I eat before I sit up in bed in the mornings. Resting helps and it's worse if I'm tired. Nothing makes it go away though and some days I feel pretty fed up, and bored too as I'm finding it hard to do much. I'm eating lots of carbohydrates and drinking soda water and camomile tea. The only think I enjoy eating at the moment is crumpets. And the things I loved last time I can't even look at now, so I guess every pregnancy is different.
Good luck.

madcol · 26/06/2008 14:09

Acupuncture. Can't tell you how much I wanted to punch anyone who said ' try ginger'

Worked in about 48 hours completely. Then returned about 3 weeks later and responded to second go.

dinny · 26/06/2008 14:25

a doula told me it is best not to try and make ms go, that it is there for a reason......

not sure how true that is!

Jelliebaby · 26/06/2008 17:42

I am 7 weeks pregnant and suffering with severe MS, i was admitted to hospital last week and put on a drip for 2 days as i was being sick for 3 days and couldn't keep anything down. The drs prescribed me Cyclizine which is an anti sickness tablet, it stops you being sick but doesn't stop you feeling sick!!! Im interested in the accupunture, does it cost a lot? and does it hurt?

star6 · 26/06/2008 19:39

Crackers!! No flavour, just wholegrain crackers with nothing on them and water. That helped me...
Also, if you're really nauseous when you first wake up in the morning, like I was, what I figured out was to get out of bed on my hands and knees, eat a cracker (I kept packs of crackers EVERYWHERE) and then crawl to the shower... it helped me not to get that wave of nausea first thing in the morning. Get dh to turn on the shower and slllllooooooowwwwwwwwlllyy stand up as it feels ok. i did this little routine for about 14 weeks :-)

ooopsyoopsydaisy · 26/06/2008 20:06

when did you all start feeling sick? Ican't remember when I did with my other pgs - about 6 weeks?
