Hello,

Have namechanged because of friends/family on here!

I'm 36 weeks pg and I'm scared I have an infection or thrush or something. Maybe I'm incontinent!

I know there is supposed to be a bit of an increase in discharge when you're pg but this is ridiculous. It drips on the floor and/or rolls down my leg and it's watery but greenish white.

Don't think it's pee but I don't really know where it comes from. It's everywhere and its getting really embarrassing.

I don't have any other symptoms of infection, no pain or itching or anything.

Is this normal? Some urine tests I've had have picked up an infection, but when I give a repeat sample, it's always found to be clear.

It makes a mess of my trousers and my bedsheets and everything really! Can anyone tell me if this is ok?

Thanks!

When did it start? recently?

TerribleSongbird · 18/06/2008 23:37

Yes, just in the past couple of weeks, especially the volume.

I was thinking maybe it could be the show?

I know I had a huge increase in discharge towards the end.

If it smells ok (sorry!) and its not itchy I wouldn't worry, maybe just wear a pad?

LovelyDear · 18/06/2008 23:39

so you don't think it's a slow leak of amniotic fluid? do such things happen?

youcannotbeserious · 18/06/2008 23:39

I never had this, sorry...

Would panty liners help?

I'm wearing them now (DS born a month a go) and they are helping a lot....

Get it checked out so that you know you and baby are safe. It can't hurt can it?

TerribleSongbird · 18/06/2008 23:44

I never thought about waters leaking! And I'm afraid I haven't discussed it with mw as I had my mum with me last time and was too .

I'll give them a call in the morning, what do you think they will do if they suspect leaky waters?

Probably all normal, but if you haven't already, wear a cheap panty-liner/pad and get it tested by the midwives (our local foetal medicine unit does it) just to rule out a slow leak of fluid.

I probably had that from 30 weeks, and got a lot of extra monitoring for that and some other complications. DS is fine, btw (although a little pain for the last trimester!). You should get checked out though just to be sure (in my case the tests for fluid were pretty inconclusive though).

BTW the pad has to be cheap to make sure it isn't treated with anything which messes up the test (so my midwife told me).

Hi. My hindwaters leaked with my last pregnancy, but only for a few days. I believe they can seal again, but would be worried if there is a greenish tinge. MWs will be able to test if it is urine/ waters (think it is a pH test they use- not sure) but if your waters are leaking they will probably want to do a scan to check you still have plenty (I think you keep onj producing it, so baby doesn't "dry out" or anything!!) but you might need antibiotics if there is infection. Best to check it out asap- hopefully you will find it is nothing to worry about. Good luck

TerribleSongbird · 19/06/2008 00:03

Oh dear, when you put it like that, I have been a bit silly, sorry.

I just thought it couldn't be anything too bad because of the urine tests not picking anything up. The waters leaking didn't occur to me, I didn't know they could.

Would it be something I need to see a doctor about? Because my local hospital don't have any docs in the maternity dept, only midwives.

If I have to see the doc, I am going to have to find a lift to the big hospital 20 miles away.

Can't you ring your Midwife / labour ward. Don't worry about time of night - always on duty! They'll be able to tell you what to do first thing tomorrow morning.

TerribleSongbird · 19/06/2008 00:10

I'll call them now ... of course they're not going to be on office hours are they! Silly me. Will let you know what they say.

Good stuff, good luck

TerribleSongbird · 19/06/2008 00:17

Yeah, she mentioned about back waters going as well, and of course she told me I have to ring the other hospital.

Oh dear ... DP is asleep and I really don't want to go all that way because I know it's going to be nothing.

Bugger bugger bugger.

Come, you've gotta do it. They'll see you super quick and parking will be a doddle. Do you have any other children?

TerribleSongbird · 19/06/2008 00:35

No, it's my first. I just don't want to cause a great big fuss if it's nothing, ie wake my poor hard-working DP up and spend ages waiting around in the middle of the night.

Oh dear, I am silly. I just phoned and they said that it couldn't possibly wait until tomorrow.

Oh no ... better go and wake DP.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 19/06/2008 00:37

Good luck! Sure it will be fine, but better safe than sorry! Look on it as a trial run!

TerribleSongbird · 19/06/2008 00:40

Of course, DP was really nice and doesn't mind at all!

Thanks everyone, will keep you posted !
