Anyone else pregnant and going to Glastonbury Festival this year? I just got my ticket this morning! I'm 23+1 weeks now so will be bumpilicious at the end of the month and I had a sudden panic about falling over in the mud. (Please god let the weather not be like last year...)

Anyone got any good tips? Anyone else going too? Would love to hear from you

wow!!! you are brave, the first thing i thought when i read this was about the waiting for the toilets, when i was 20+ weeks i spent most of my day going back and forwards to the loo at work. dont forget to take loads of toilet roll and bottles of water.
i wish i was going but i am toooo old now and i have two toddlers in tow who i would certainly lose in the crowds and i couldnt cope now i am pregnant again.
i hope you have lovely dry but cool weather.
have a great time

spicemonster · 03/06/2008 18:25

Blimey you're very brave. Folding camping stool so you can sit down? If I were you, I'd march to the front of the loo queues saying 'I'm pregnant and I need to wee now' but then I asked people to give me their seats on the tube

No advice as I've never done it but I hope the weather is kind to you

paint your bump psychedelic and enjoy!

Wisteria · 03/06/2008 18:33

a folding chair

new airbed that doesn't go down half way through the night

earplugs so you can sleep at night when the festivities sound like they're in your tent

eyemask so you're not awake with the birds

have a great time and enjoy

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/06/2008 18:33

Wasn't there a thread about the She-Wee recently?

At 23 weeks should be OK, but somewhere to sit down occasionally would be nice. I ran a street festival (much smaller than Glasto tho ) at 34 weeks pg and that was a little daft in retrospect.

merryberry · 03/06/2008 19:08

be really picky about the food, especially avoid any meat in case of poor cook through.

jennylindinha · 03/06/2008 19:44

Thanks for all your messages guys! I do have a She-Wee and found it invaluable last year. Even barged into the men's urinals a few times to use it as you can keep your modesty whilst using it. They are great in case any of you are thinking of getting one...

Not sure I'd fancy giving birth there - but they do have midwives on site (yikes)

Folding stool and aribed are a must these days anyway as I'm too old to sit on the floor!

If any of you fancy coming there are still tickets left...

Please help me pray for a scorcher that weekend!!!

I'll be there! 25 weeks now so I guess will be 28ish then. I read through most of these while deciding whether or not to go and everyone seemed to have positive experiences A waterproof blanket (for sprawling if it isn't too muddy), my she pee and a fold up chair are musts for me - as well as hoping that the morning sickness I've suddenly delevopled clears up!

RainyWednesday · 03/06/2008 20:20

Ooh, I've just read take Magicool for sweaty tent moments, which struck me as a good tip! Also it's an idea to register with the midwives when you get there (and take your notes)

Flum · 03/06/2008 20:24

Yeah, motor caravan. with a loo

mazzystar · 03/06/2008 20:28

find the radical midwives yurt
move in

MavisG · 03/06/2008 21:08

I'll be 14 weeks, still not decided whether or not to go (have ticket). I think I'll see how tired I am & what the weather forecast's like (I think it'll be too tiring if it's muddy). I hope it's dry, I love glasto & Leonard Cohen's playing this year...

jennylindinha · 03/06/2008 21:39

Hurrah, some fellow festies! Thanks for the link Rainy and I'll definitely take a copy of my notes... Mavis, I think you should come too, even if just for Leonard.

jennylindinha · 03/06/2008 21:55

Ooh yes, I'm not traipsing to those loos in the middle of the night! Luckily, our tent has a large porch which, when combined with a saucepan, is known as the "en-suite"

RainyWednesday · 03/06/2008 22:04

Ha ha - I've been peeing in our tent for the last few years! Just please empty it down the loo rather than into the ground or it's as bad as peeing in the hedges.

Flum the campervan field is at the end of something known as "the hill of death" which put me off a bit!

thehairybabysmum · 03/06/2008 22:06

i went to V when pregnant and they let me use the disabled loos...i was about 7months though and had a v visible large bump.

Apart from needing the loo lots it was fab...ds1 loved the bass from Goldfrapp, i coukd feel it reverberating on my bump!!

Also i kind of chilled at the back rather than pushing to the front....no beer or anything tis a bit weird though.

enjoy!

madmouse · 03/06/2008 23:06

water water water
little tripod stool using dh/dp as backrest
proper airbed not a sleep mat
fruit and cereal bars
wearing tight t shirts so people can see and give you priority at the loos
check your rain coat still fits!!!

did not do glastonbury, but did comparable Christian yoof festival so the above is from experience. Especially the rain coat. I won't easily forget Bath and West Showground, so much rain I freaked out that the tent was going to flood!

KSal · 04/06/2008 08:38

woo! good luck, i reckon you'll have a great time... the site is bigger and there will be less people this year

i chickened out as i feared it may be manic and wet like last year and am going to Latitude instead (I'll be 28 weeks) because its smaller and easier to get home from! Still kind of wish i was going (husband and friends still are)

I reckon something to sit on is a must, especially as its been so wet this month.... that was the main thing about last year - once the rain really set in you couldn't just chill out on the grass

gillythekid · 04/06/2008 08:48

Been 10 times but will be 38 weeks pregnant come end of the month so giving it a miss this year! I'm a seasoned pro now so here's my essentials list

Air bed
extra tarpaulin
waterproofing spray
quilt (wrap in bin bag during day, much warmer than sleep bag!)
hot water bottle
P mate and plastic bottle for night wees!! (buy from she pee enclosure)
wax ear plugs
eye mask
v comfy shoes
good multi vit
cranberry tablets for bladder as cold/dirt/diet can make you v run down.
nuts, fruit, tins of fish for energy
sun hat, sunscreen
RAIN FORECAST?
wellies WITH insoles!!!
millions of bin bags to put muddy stuff in
millions of socks to keep feet dry
waterproof poncho and trousers and warm coat
trolley to transport stuff from car to site

Enjoy it and drink lots of water!

LuckyStrike · 04/06/2008 09:08

I believe that they tell you that you need to register at the main medical centre to let them know you are pregnant - but don't bother cos it is up the HUGE hill (behind the Pyramid stage) and is a trek even when you are not preg. If there was any reason you need medical assistance, you can tell them at the time that you are preg!

glastochick · 04/06/2008 14:21

Hiya

If you want to register with the midwives they will be in the new Park area too (new for last year), so that will save you a walk up to the farmhouse

If you can, try and arrive to the festival site via the M5 route. Might be longer, but the carparks on that side are much friendlier in terms of access. No walk back up the 'hill of death' to get to your car.

As others have said, something waterproof to sit on / a chair to get DH / DP to carry around for you, and an airbed should be considered essential. Warm clothes for when you're out and about at night times (gets chilly once the mists start rolling in, even during a dry year).

And TravelJohns to keep in the tent for night time pees here
