Full term stillbirth last year - having a c section at 37 weeks

I have a planned c section booked for 37 weeks due to a stillbirth at 37+2 last year, however the past two days my baby hasn’t been kicking as much or as strong as the previous days by far and I’m terrified to go another 5 days with reduced movements. They said there might be an option to bring it forward 2 days so having a c section at 36+5 but I already know they’re might be risks with her breathing at 37 weeks but if they move it forward a few days I’m even more concerned but very concerned that the reduce movements will end up in a stillbirth like last year and my baby had receded movements and then died.

I would definitely go in for monitoring and see what they say. If they bring it forwards you are still a good gestation especiallyif they can give you the steroid jabs. Different to your situation but I had a twin pregnancy after a neonatal loss and a Cs at 35w. We had a week in hospital and they are now tall slightly stroppy 12 year olds

Go in now. No point in waiting.

dizzydizzydizzy · 26/09/2025 15:25

You poor think.

I would phone the hospital or your midwife and tell them how worried you are. It would be totally reasonable.

PraisebetoGod · 26/09/2025 15:26

Call your delivery suite right now and tell them about the reduced movements. You will need to go in for a monitoring. It's okay to call and go in any time you are concerned about baby movements. I'm sorry for your loss and wish you well. Let us know how you get on x

Tunacheesequesadilla · 26/09/2025 15:26

I would go in now and request monitoring, until your C-section can be done.

This. Please don't hesitate to call them.

You poor love, that must have been a horrendous experience.

I would have a large glass of icy cold water and hopefully you will get a hefty kick in the ribs for your worries.

Either way, go and get checked out. They can give you medicine to start maturing the lungs early to the best of my knowledge. I had a 37 weaker and she was hale and hearty on the breathing front if small and a bit disinterested in feeding. Midwife said that all they are doing from week 37-40 is putting on weight so you should be fine.

shinycinnamon · 26/09/2025 15:39

My first baby was stillborn at 39 weeks, and with my subsequent pregnancies I regularly went in for extra monitoring whenever I felt reduced movement.
All the staff were totally understanding and lovely. Just head down there and get the reassurance you need.
Hope it all goes well

Britanniaa · 26/09/2025 15:52

So sorry you went through this and for your loss, please let us know how you went on.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 26/09/2025 16:00

Have you been in for monitoring today? If not go in now, do not delay, even if you attended yesterday

veggietate · 26/09/2025 16:01

Phone them up now and tell them you’re on your way in sweetheart.

Burnnotice · 26/09/2025 16:01

Please go in and get checked out. I had steroids injection when i was 33 weeks (years ago) that is supposed to help with lungs. She was CS at 37 weeks as consultant said they are just putting weight on!
I was never away from hospital.

BitOutOfPractice · 26/09/2025 16:03

Oh goodness op, that’s please go in. They will be happy to help. Good luck xxx

DeQuin · 26/09/2025 16:06

Call them, go in, get checked out. You absolutely should and must. Hand hold.

My babes were born at 34+6 and, despite a short spell in NICU, are now healthy 16 year olds.

Sending a hand hold.

flobalobble · 26/09/2025 16:06

Same advice as everyone else.Go in and be checked out.Sending you my best wishes.Xx

WTF987 · 26/09/2025 16:09

No matter what you have booked, always go in for reduced movements. Even if you have to go in today and every day between now and your c section. Best of luck and love x

Mo819 · 26/09/2025 17:02

Firstly I'm so sorry for your loss I lost my own son at 37 weeks in 2008 my next 3 were all induced at 37 36+6 and 35+6 all fine all came home the same day .
Go and get your self checked hun even if its just for piece of mind the best advice my consultant gave me was if your baby needs our help your better off at the hospital .good luck xx

HuskyNew · 26/09/2025 17:08

Go and ask for a c section. A few days earlier is nothing compared to the alternative and the stress you’re under won’t be doing baby any good either

IneedtheeohIneedtheeeveryhourIneedthee · 26/09/2025 17:22

This makes horrible reading. I feel so sorry for you OP. All my best wishes for a healthy delivery and baby this time and so sorry for your devastating loss.

Worriedmum2024xxx · 26/09/2025 17:37

I’m currently in hospital for monitorings 3 times a day I forgot to put this on the post and they’re saying the trace is always fine and textbook but her kicks are still way off, they just did a scan to check the fluid and blood flow and they say all that is normal and they are saying that brining it forward isn’t good and to what for Wednesday 😣

My son was born at 35 weeks, I had a steroid shot beforehand and he was absolutely fine (just small, as I had IUGR). If you’re worried OP, I wouldn’t hesitate to ask to bring it forward.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 26/09/2025 17:45

3 times a day is good, and they have to balance the risks against the risk of c section pre term. But your instincts and baby’s movement still count for a lot so keep pushing for what you need OP, you are doing great

Frostynoman · 26/09/2025 17:47

Only you know what you are feeling from baby - if you are concerned then keep pushing. Sending positive thoughts OP xx

aloevera88 · 26/09/2025 18:08

Oh I’m sorry you’re going through this. I lost my first baby at 38 weeks and my second was a planned c section at 37 weeks but the last few weeks I was in and out of the hospital for extra checks almost daily by the end. They understood my anxiety was so high and did everything they could to help. I’m surprised they’re not letting you get an earlier section - I’d see if you can push for this. Good luck, and it’ll be over soon xx

Mo819 · 26/09/2025 19:22
