Is this a normal sized 6 month baby bump?

First baby, so I have no idea. I’m just 6 months and feeling big 😫 which worries me slightly, but I’ve always been slim so not used to having a bigger belly.
Does this look fairly average?
Thanks!

All bumps are different, it depends on your size/bone structure.
That said, I think it looks entirely normal, not big for 6 months.

andanotherproblem · 20/08/2025 07:48

Everyone is different and every bump is different. When is your midwife appointment as they usually start measuring bump at this stage. I’m 5 months and my bunk is bigger than yours but then I’m bigger than you in general.

LER2023 · 20/08/2025 07:50

Im a lot bigger than you in general, and i look like im going to drop tomorrow and im 7m pregnant😅
Thats a lovely little bump! X

Ohthatsabitshit · 20/08/2025 07:51

Looks normal for me

Wickerbindops · 20/08/2025 07:56

Oh my goodness, that's really nothing! At 6 months with my second I looked full term !
And wayyyy bigger than that at 6 months with my first.

Glassmatt · 20/08/2025 07:57

You’ll balloon in the next few weeks as baby puts on weight. 😉 You’re slim and I was like you when I was pregnant. From the back you couldn’t tell I was pregnant. Some people are huge because they carry a lot of fluid. Don’t worry OP

cheesycheesy · 20/08/2025 07:59

Everyone is different. Youre slim and probably have good muscle tone so it’s a big bump. I looked like I was going to give birth any second from 6 months onwards with my second. I was enormous

ToKittyornottoKitty · 20/08/2025 08:04

That’s absolutely not a big bump for 6 months, nobody would look at that and think wow she’s huge. All bumps are different and you are going to get waaaaaay bigger than that so chill out and enjoy it OP

MikeRafone · 20/08/2025 08:08

You might only be having a small baby, who knows - or you my be built to hide the bump

At 32 weeks my scan indicated baby was 7.ib2 and she was 9.2 born and my bump at 26 weeks was barely visible - to the point people weren't aware I was pregnant

My dd when pg herself had a very big bump at 36 weeks to the point it looked as though she'd burst

BlackStrayCat · 20/08/2025 08:14

That is exactly how I looked.
At 8 months it gets rapidly bigger as the baby grows and the stretch mark fear kicks in!

TheCornishGoodLife · 20/08/2025 08:22

Thank you so much, I really, really appreciate it. It is really reassuring to hear 😊 I think I’m struggling quite a bit with all the body changes in pregnancy, and trying to not think that my growing belly = me getting fat - it’s a baby and not me getting fat. I’ve finally stopped weighing myself which has helped.

Me too, I’m only 5 months and people are shocked when I tell them I have another 4 months to go 😂

cheesycheesy · 20/08/2025 08:24

My stomach looks like that on a good day and I had my baby 10 months ago

Hadalifeonce · 20/08/2025 08:26

I was about that size at 6 weeks! Everyone is different, I worked with a woman who never seemed to have a bump, she had a healthy 7 pounder, so you just can't tell

RazzleDazz1e · 20/08/2025 08:27

I don't have a bump yet at 6 months...

WaltzingWaters · 20/08/2025 08:27

Every bump is so different, there really is no normal. I’ve seen women look 9 months when they’re still in first trimester, and women with no bump when they’re about to give birth.
It definitely doesn’t look particularly big though so don’t worry on that aspect. I’m also six months (albeit with my second, so I have popped a lot sooner this time) and my bump is huge!
Don't fret. It looks perfectly fine!

Noname973 · 20/08/2025 08:29

You look beautiful! I had huge baby bumps because I am only 5 foot and all my babies were 8 1/2 lb plus. There are many different variables that can factor into bump, how much fluid, size of baby, your own height / size. Please check with your midwife if you’d like reassurance

2brains · 20/08/2025 08:43

I looked like that at 9 weeks with my 3rd😂

1st one I looked like you at 3 months

This!!

My mum was still in her size 8 jeans at 8 month pregnant with my eldest brother (her first)
As i said with my first wven after 3 miscarriages i look like im ready to pop.

It all goes on genes i guess (my dad was 6ft3 and 22 stone) so i think i got his genes.
You have a perfect little bump, and its so right for your frame! Enjoy pregnancy! X

GingerFox2021 · 20/08/2025 18:55

I look the same and I’m just 16 weeks 🤓.

CheeryPombear · 25/08/2025 16:25

I'm 23 weeks and look like this! I was "obese" before getting pregnant at at BMI of 32 but my weight gain has been slow and remains low. It's all baby.

Very normal. I was constantly waiting on my bump and said to myself by 20w it will be noticeable. Well it was not, then I said by 30w I’ll surely have the huge round belly. Nope, it’s definitely there but not huge and when I layed down it just looked like I had a good meal. I’m now 32w and it’s rapidly growing each week but still looks more like an early 7 month bump. I think when the bump is not huge it means you’re carrying more in the back which then causes early back pain and all that (can confirm my pelvis feels like it’s gonna shatter after only 30min of walking around)

greglet · 27/08/2025 12:18

I looked like that at 20 weeks with my son (I’m tall and slim).

Currently 12.5 weeks with number 2 and I already look
like that 😂

Nosleepforthismum · 27/08/2025 12:32

You look wonderful OP! I’ve always been slim and the biggest shock from pregnancy is that I didn’t stay more or less the same shape and just pop a little bump at the bottom of my stomach (like in all the films). I did not expect to get very boxy first, where my ribs expanded out and any waistline I had disappeared. I found it easier once I had a very obvious pregnancy bump but I was nearly 8 months by the time that happened. You look perfectly normal and pregnant to me, don’t worry and I promise you mostly go back to normal afterwards (just maybe with a few battle scars).
