Just found out I’m pregnant

Hi,

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant, and I am so happy - I’ve wanted this for a long time, but I’m actually freaking out a bit too and I’m not sure why. It’s like seeing the line makes it real. I’m not sure why I’m reacting this way. Did anyone else feel like this when they found out?

Congratulations! I did feel similar to you and I went through years of infertility/IVF. I was then extremely worried I am going to loose it (still am). Huge congrats and enjoy your little bubble 💐

Springadorable · 02/06/2025 21:55

Congratulations!! Yes of course, you've made a life that you'll be responsible for for the rest of yours, that's a big deal! But it's so exciting. X

Completely normal to freak out. A baby is something huge and life changing that will change the course of things forever. Nerves are normal. Defo take some more tests (cheaper ones are fine) as clearblue aren’t always accurate and lots of people have got false positives from them. See doc for bloods to confirm too!

Come on - that test is positive as anything - op doesn't need to start doing anymore tests.
That isn't a false positive don't freak the OP out!

Thanks all! I’m starting to calm down, but my partner is ready for bed so I don’t know how to just chill out in bed without him realising 😂 I would want to tell him on another day I think.

Honestly it still doesn't feel real to me! I had a negative test the day before so had ruled out this cycle and then suddenly it was positive! I was shaking i was so shocked after so long trying. Me and my husband had the weirdest day where everything was a bit awkward because we were just so shocked 😂

Btw you definitely don't need to do more tests like pp said, that's a dye stealer! Doesn't get much darker than that!

my sister had two pos tests similar to OP around 7 weeks ago with heavy dye and she wasn’t actually pregnant. Speaking to GP after the bloods they said it’s been a common recent thing with the clearblue tests. Can’t speak for any other brands

Dunno about your gp but where I live the gp will not do any bloods. They just do another urine test. Bloods is overkill. No need to keep doing tests either with a clear positive urine test.
congrats op

Superscientist · 03/06/2025 09:19

4 very much wanted pregnancies. 4 very much "WTF have I done moments" after seeing the test turn positive in all cases by the next day the nerves and excitement kick in!

thats strange. I’ve lived in England and Scotland and all my GP’s are happy to do a blood test for confirmation. Especially as urine tests aren’t always accurate where as blood tests are far more sensitive.

Urine tests are extremely accurate if the op is unsure I would suggest a digital test but that looks like a clear positive. I think asking for a blood test is over kill. With my first pregnancy my gp didn’t even test my urine when I went in for my first visit, just took my word for it and said home tests are very accurate.

In my opinion it’s a sign of an amazing mum to be if you’re having these feelings early on becasue you care and understand how big it is! Congratulations you’re going to love it it’s such an amazing journey and the love is unreal x

Digital tests are not any more accurate than regular tests. My point on this post was that my sister had 2 BFP’s on a clearblue, similar to op she’d had neg tests on another test a couple days before. It turned out she wasn’t pregnant after all. I’m sure OP will do tests from other brands/ cheap dip tests if she doesn’t want bloods to confirm.

Well I’ve never heard of anyone getting a false positive with a digital. I used to work in a hospital and we only ever used urine tests (cheapo ones) never blood to check for pregnancy. Even when checking someone wasn’t pregnant before abdominal surgery.

That’s great but scientifically they are no more accurate. They just provide a clearer to read result. It’s a marketing ploy.

if there is any doubt they provide clarity. I wouldn’t have doubts about that test myself but you obviously do. And I know an evap when I see one cos I’ve had many many of them unfortunately

Hi, thanks everyone for the kind messages. I took another test today and it states I am pregnant.

@Cheffymcchef - whilst I do appreciate your opinion, you didn’t half worry me. I can’t imagine there are many instances of a false positive.

Ooof the scaremongering here was unreal.

Congratulations @LJaneE92I am currently 5 weeks 5 days with Dc2, my first little girl is 6 in two months so looking at the positive test was “ what the f “ I cried in pure fear, and after a few days of letting it sink in, I’m proud to say I’m still in the “ what the f “ stage.

fear and shock is completely normal, don’t be too hard on yourself 😊🤍

Congrats. I did not mean to scaremonger it’s just the emotional turmoil was immense for my sister with those stupid clearblue tests. Congratulations.

No need. It was just because of the many false positives those clearblue tests have provided

How do they provide clarity when they have the same test rate as the other clearblue ones.

Ketzele · 03/06/2025 15:55

Congratulations! I tried to get pregnant for YEARS, was 40 and desperate when it finally happened, yet my first thought was, "Oh no, what have I done?!"

20 years on, that pregnancy was the best thing that ever happened to me. Best wishes for your own lovely pregnancy and the baby ahead x

CrownPointSouth · 03/06/2025 16:36

@Cheffymcchef with all due respect, all you have done is scare the OP since she has posted this thread, despite myself and other posters telling you to knock it off that is a clear positive.
Clear blue are KNOWN for clever Evaaps that are blue not positives that look like OPs
The OP has also stated you've caused her worry for no reason so knock it off.

Because they leave no room for misinterpretation of the result, if there is any doubt.
