So just to start this of this is for no other reason except general curiosity. Just pretty confused that’s all.
i went for a dating scan that showed I was 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant on the 12th of June this year then I had my 12 week scan a week later and both said my due date is the 30th of December this year.
now my dilemma here is I had sex on the 10th of April and that’s the only time I had sex in like the space of a month so that’s my only possible date I could of got pregnant. but everything I put in on conception calculators and everything come up with the 8th of April or earlier then that. So what I got pregnant from thin air apparently?? Haha just doesn’t add up to me. I have pcos and an irregular cycle so no idea when my last period was around that time.

thank you all I was struggling so much to make sense of it but it’s starting to make sense to me now. It was at my 11 weeks and 2 days scan so my dating scan that the baby measured 44.8mm

Human egg cells live for about 24h so you could have ovulated late on the 8th/early 9th and then fertilised early on the 10th which would make it about right.
Due date calculators assume ovulation and fertilisation on the same day.
I wouldn't stress over it, it's only 2 days.

There is always a margin of error as well; with my current pregnancy I had several NHS scans as well as a private scan pre 12 weeks, and got given due dates of 30th January, and then 1st, 4th and 6th of February. A lot can depend on the position of the baby as well as the specific sonographer.

Also, it’s very rare for a baby to arrive on their actual due date! If anyone asks me, I declare that the baby is due “early February” because realistically, that’s when they’ll arrive. There’s no point telling everyone it’ll be born on 1st Feb (my official NHS due date) because it probably won’t be. Try not to get too hung up on it.

Hi can I ask when you Lmp was for a due date of 1st of Feb? X

@Justagirl156 I had a reeeally irregular cycle as my period didn’t properly come back after having DD in May 2023, but I was tracking ovulation and I conceived on or around 12th May, so theoretically my LMP would have been around the start of May :)

I believe I conceived around the same time with the same due date! X

@Sammie9212 it isn't definitive. DS1 was born at 36.3; dd at 41.3. They are cooked when they are cooked. DS was 7lb 5oz, dd 8lb,13oz. Both fine. Funnily enough ds has always been very impatient, dd is chilled and does everything in her own time and when she's ready.

It just isn't an exact science. Neither respected their due dates as many don't. Technically dd shouldn't have been conceived as it was too soon to ovulate. But I must have ovulate early. It happens. It's why natural methods of family planning are inaccurate.
