I've lost a bit of my mucus plug three times already in this pregnancy, then I got the whole thing today. It can regenerate if it's knocked loose too early.

I believe it's 37 weeks you are advised to wait for to collect colostrum BUT it was leaking out of me so I started wearing those nipple shells and collecting it that way, then when I got to 36 weeks decided to use the pump. It was coming out anyway so I figured it would be OK.

Twinkletwinklelil · 25/11/2024 23:12

@Lunamoon23 you can lose your mucus plug for weeks - but you will get a “show” when labour is nearing. That snot like gloop with streaks of red/pink/brown in.
last time for me it was around 36 hours before labour started.

Weird one. Baby has always always been head down, she just seems to like it. I've just now felt hiccups higher up, about halfway up my bump. I hope she hasn't flipped now at 35 weeks!

I experienced the same about a week ago, nervously waiting for my next midwife appt to find out if she's flipped 🙃 she's been head down since 32 weeks, I'll be bummed if she's flipped now at 37!

And congratulations @vanillaiceice, that's amazing news 🥰

Lunamoon23 · 26/11/2024 07:52

@Twinkletwinklelil thank you, that's super helpful.

@LilyJessie I was also advised 37 weeks, which I turned yesterday.

@vanillaiceice congratulations!! 💖 how exciting!

Lunamoon23 · 26/11/2024 07:54

Also, sorry for TMI.. but the last few days my gas and number 2's have been extremely smelly. Of course, I know they do tend to smell, but they smell shocking 😂 nothings changed diet wise. Anyone else experienced similar? X

OnNaturesCourse · 26/11/2024 08:56

@Lunamoon23 - yes!! They've been getting worse and more frequent recently. Yesterday I actually made myself boke on the toliet... 🫣

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2024 09:15

@Lunamoon23 one of the signs that labour is on its way is an upset stomach. I had a D&V episode the weekend before my little one made his appearance.

Apparently, your body likes to clear things out so the exit route is, ahem, clean 😂

Lunamoon23 · 26/11/2024 09:25

@OnNaturesCourse mine isn't constant. I wake in the morning and within half an hour I have to go. But once I've been that's it then, but the smell is awful 😂🤢 (such a pleasant conversation this time in the morning, I apologise!)

@Firsttimetrier I've had no sickness, although have felt a little nauseated occasionally and it's not diarrhoea, it's just really stinky 😂

RedRobyn2021 · 26/11/2024 09:57

Don't know if anyone will be interested, but the positive birth company have a sale on their hypnobirthing course, it's only £22.50 atm (it's normally £30)

I did this online course with my first birth and found it really helpful, although apparently Siobhan Miller remade all the videos since I did mine so they're probably even better now

I've just downloaded it but haven't watched yet, not sure how long the sale is on for

Question, what is everyone doing for Christmas Day?

My daughter is due on the 21st December, although she will probably be late (judging by my first baby) but I've been worrying about Christmas Day because we usually always spend it at my mums.

I did tell her if the baby comes before Christmas I wouldn't be going to hers as I will need to concentrate on breastfeeding (I remember with my daughter I needed to time to make sure I was feeding her enough and getting the latch right and I don't want to be sitting with my boobs out in front of my step dad and his mother 😂) but even if baby hasn't come I will be overdue and don't want any pressure on the day.

What are others doing?

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2024 10:25

@RedRobyn2021 also recommend PBC! I did it for my first as well and redoing it for this pregnancy.

I found the meditation tracks really helpful as well, but actually need to remember actually put them on when in labour this time 😂

So I’m not actually due until the 4th Jan, but first my waters went at 38 weeks, so if this follows suit, I could be in labour on Christmas Eve.

Our plan is to visit the in law’s at Christmas and travelling down on the 23rd Dec with the plan to stay until Boxing Day. We will be 40mins drive from the hospital/home, so if I feel anything which remotely resembles labour, we will drop everything and drive back.

However, if baby comes early between 16th-19th, then we will go there for Christmas, but if baby arrives 20th-24th, absolutely no chance we’re going anywhere for Christmas!

RedRobyn2021 · 26/11/2024 10:33

@Firsttimetrier

It's the unknown that's been worrying me! I don't want my parents to get loads of food in and expecting us and then for baby to show up but equally I don't want to get stressed and delay her being born as I know I'll be enormously uncomfortable

And if I get lucky and she's already here (please god) I don't want to be cluster feeding in front of my step dad and his mother, last time with my daughter I had my boobs out constantly and when you're trying to figure out positions and things the baby isn't always on the boob.

RedRobyn2021 · 26/11/2024 10:34

@Firsttimetrier am I right remembering you have another child too?

OnNaturesCourse · 26/11/2024 10:39

@Lunamoon23 i get the morning clear out too - then more during the day but it's always solid so it's not like a upset tummy. More of a clear out type thing.

My nausea is back a little bit at night too especially when I am tired or emotional (which seems to be most nights right now)

I also have a pulled muscle type feeling all over my bump, like I've been doing sit ups too much.

Body is gearing up for the final stage I think but unfortunately gearing up can be hours, days, weeks... I wish there was a set time on it as I feel not knowing makes everything feel worse.

Firsttimetrier · 26/11/2024 10:41

@RedRobyn2021 yep, will have a nearly 2.5 year old next month. So being at the in law’s and things kicking off is actually good for the childcare aspect!

My BIL asked if we’d still come if I gave birth a few days before, like it would be a given, and I asked if he’s joking, because there is no way I’m going to be in the deep depths of postpartum surrounded by 10 adults, all trying to hold the baby, whilst I’m trying to establish breastfeeding/bleeding/in nappies myself/milk coming in/hormones dropping.

OnNaturesCourse · 26/11/2024 10:44

We're doing Christmas at my parents who are, luckily, in the same town as us. It's a home from home for me and the kids so I'm pretty sure I'll be comfortable enough if baby is here or not thankfully.

I can literally just rock up in my PJs and hide away in my old room if I want to, and the kids have their own rooms and stuff already there too thankfully.

I might actually end up going there and just staying for Christmas week 😂

I know what you mean!

I think people forget what it's like in those early days. I said to my mum, if the baby comes before Christmas I'm not going out anywhere, I'm sitting on the sofa and breastfeeding. It's a strange/wonderful time but definitely not something I'd want to do with loads of other people round
