Afternoon All. Apologises in advance for typos...have baby clamped to boobs...and attempting to drink tea and type with left hand. I WILL multi-task

babycakes the sunflowers sounded sublime, what a beautiful and totally fitting image to have stay with you all for ever. I'm so pleased that you got to celebrate Zac in such a lovely way xxxx

johnworf pmsl laughing at hedgepig's wallace and Grommit breastfeeding contraption...all aboard the the 1am milk-train express delivery service...with added Wendsleydale I think you just need a fab pair of Manolos to complete the look!

I've just checked out pics of Katherine....OMG she looks amazing....I'm utterly stunned that she's off so much of the equipment...blimey, you build 'em tuff!

hotmama welcome and congrats! I too had CVS - so good getting back the results.

mrsboogie we have a bugaboo chameleon. Got it for the great suspension...helps with all the hills here. I quite like it although the buggy seat is a little shallow. Now have Phil & teds for the 2 DC...having the 1st outing this afternoon...eek! All my mates seem to love their prams...Quinny, M&P, S Cross, Mothercare etc...although none are perfect!

hedgepig · 09/06/2008 13:28

mrsB how many weeks are you? I'm 23 now and only feel movements if I am still, 1st thing in the morning and last thing at night. I though they were moving away from the number of kicks a day? and more to looking for changes in patterns.

mrsboogie · 09/06/2008 13:42

I am 25 weeks - 26 on Thursday - trouble is he doesn't really do patterns either - usually (but not always) after I eat and usually (but not always) at night. Last night he didn't budge for hours after dinner and I was forced (ahem) to eat a load of ice cream to get him to move. Even if I don't feel kicks I can feel him wriggling on and of but sometimes he just goes still for hours and hours.

FloriaTosca · 09/06/2008 15:16

MrsB; I agree with hedgepig they are tending to talk about when patterns change rather than the 10 kicks a day thing. My ds became very sluggish from 25wks onwards, he had got himself head down, almost engaged (that never changed ) and was very very comfy...far too comfy to kick much....(just occasionally kick downwards and scare me stupid!)...the only times I was certain he was ok was when I used my doppler or when he got hiccups.

JohnWorf; Katherine is really looking well...I hope you are too, my cousin said that the stress of having a baby in scbu is horrendous. I love your choice of pram,we bought the same one [SC sleepover/classic)off e-bay and it is much better (lighter, more manouverable and more space for baby)than the bebeconfort we were given, but my mum couldnt handle the heavyweight gift which is actually better for off roading so we had to give her the silvercross . I wish the Wallace and Gromit idea could come true ofr you ...hope things in that dept are improving.

johnworf · 09/06/2008 17:56

Just to let all you ladies know...my boobs are huge! jeanjeannie you may compare yours to mine should you wish to

I'm taking these fenugreek tablets that the MW recommended. I honestly thought it was some quackery but no, I could pump for England.

Actually, the lady in Holland & Barratt told me that men (it's always men isn't it?) on the internet will pay £50 for a litre of breast milk. Why? I asked....cos it's full of vitamins!!!!!! Naturally, DH's eyes said it all and I could see him mentally totting up how much he could make............

FloriaTosca Katherine used to dance on my fanjo all the time. In fact, she danced up and down on it all the way through my contractions. It's a horrid feeling. A bit like when you have a smear I feel for you dear.

heron22 · 09/06/2008 18:41

hi johnworf, i will keep fenugreek tabs in mind, for when i am breastfeeding

Kaz1967 · 09/06/2008 19:43

johnworf this little one hicupped on my cervix the other weekend when I got contractions and they were totally engaged it was really quite unpleasant they are really low again today but hoping they will pop back up when I lay down which is wot I am about to do any time now

jeanjeannie · 09/06/2008 21:05

Johnworf ..I see your HUGE breasts and raise you a 36F.....ah, go on...can you beat that?! Tee hee...*sniggers at boob sizes
I took fenugreek...and it made my burps smell.....I was the smelly scurge of SCBU....but hell, I was great at the pump!!
£50 per litre you say.......reckon I could trot out £100 worth of an evening

Off to bed...Verity has literally eaten constantly...I mean all day...slept for about hour and half. Not sure what I'm going to do when DP goes back to work (in 3 weeks) - loathed to go down the sling route - but can't see how I'm going to look after a non-walking DD1 with a little one stuck to my breasts constantly....eeek! Any ideas then please feel free to pass them this way night night.

johnworf · 09/06/2008 21:23

Ouch kaz1967 They really know how to hit the spot don't they?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm@lying down. That seems like such a luxury right now. We've done evening and an afternoon session at the hospital today. Don't normally do both as it's knackering, but had to take DSS for his hospital appointment today and so visits were on the short side.

Know how you feel jeanjeannie except I'm stuck to a pump and not a baby. I'll raise your 36F to my 40D's The fenugreek really does work but it makes your burps smell (and taste) nasty and it makes my wee smell of maple syrup....wouldn't recommend my wee for pancakes though

Mebbe we should go into business and sell our milk over t'interweb. We could invest in one of those cow milking machines and get it out to customers even faster!!! MOOOOOOOO

Kaz1967 · 09/06/2008 21:47

jeanjeannie Johnworf think I have the crown for this one got to a 40L at 12 weeks not looking forward to milk

hedgepig · 09/06/2008 22:04

MrsB with my DS and this LO I tend to get wriggles rather than distinct kicks. If your
placenta is at the front of your uterus that will also cushion any thumps. My LO goes quite for hrs in the day too I think they are sleeping. Try not to worry but as the mw says if you do get concerned ring the hosp and pop in for some monitoring.

Hi milk producers (JJ and JohnW) gosh I didn't know there was a market for it, maybe this could be a way to supplement my maternity leave when it comes to it.

hedgepig · 09/06/2008 22:09

hi Kaz I was 36J before I started I'm growing out of my bra now so another visit to bavissimo is due. I'm not looking forward to the milk coming either

mrsboogie · 09/06/2008 23:48

placenta is at the back so it ain't that. LO has been moving all day today so all seems fine. In a day or so he will go quiet again and I will be fretting but I kind of sense that after a couple of days taking it easy he will get back in gear again.

oh and I am at least a 40F - squished into a Marks and Spencer minimiser bra.

£50 quid a litre eh?

fetches calculator

Fortified · 10/06/2008 00:30

DH has just seen new Madonna video. He says, if I'm the same age as her, why can't I dance around in little knickers and fishnet tights. NCP! I'm much younger than her.

40E and rising...

I'd forgotten about the baby hiccups. I haven't had any this time - when do they start?

johnworf · 10/06/2008 09:10

Awwww shame on you girls for giving me boob envy now And here was me thinking I had massive bazookas (well they were massive in both mine and my DH's minds).

Fortified only men could want their pregnant partner to dance around like Madonna !! NCP indeedy

Actually my DH will try and get a bit of breast milk if he can - which is very sick in my mind but hey, who am I to know?!

hedgepig · 10/06/2008 09:43

Johnw they are massive, anyway its whats in them that counts, I dried up one one side very quickly last time and used to get bitten for offering the wrong boob. DS was not an enthusiastic feeder and had to be BF by the clock rather than demand, except a night which he though was feeding time.
I'd get too cold in knickers and fishnet tights, DH loves legs but I never wear short skirts (or any skirts) cos I like being warm too much.

johnworf · 10/06/2008 10:03

awww @ offering the wrong boob. I've noticed that one of mine seems to hold more than the other although when I measure them out or double pump, they're pretty much the same.

Going around the supermarket last night there was a baby crying and straight away my nipples started to tingle and I could feel my boobs at the checkout almost fit to burst. It's a strange situation getting home, bursting through the door, flinging off clothes up the stairs in anticipation of jumping on the bed with breast pump in hand....big sigh of relief after a few pumps

hedgepig if you're gonna BF this time, try the fenugreek stuff. It's magic!

I've yet to see what Katherine's feeding pattern is. As of yet she doesn't have one! It goes straight down her NG tube each hour although I'm sure as she gets bigger and when she comes home, that will all change. I can't wait

As for dancing around...nah. I'm made for comfort and high heels are just not me (I don't think my clarks wedges are quite the same).

jeanjeannie · 10/06/2008 10:25

Well girls.....looks like I'm last in the breast size stakes....I take my hat off to you all..and I shall not moan about their enormousness again!

Isn't Madonna 50...?! Oh she can bugger off. Yeah, I'd be dancing around like that if I had an army of nannies, shed loads of $$££ and a hunky personal trainer descending on me in the morning....! Grrrrr. Or, perhaps I'd just lay in bed and eat cake

And JW what is it with men and breastmilk.. Honestly my DP was soooo fascinated last time...but he could never get any...tee hee. He's not so excited by the milk at the moment but he is school-boy obsessed by lifting up my boobs and bouncing them up and down......nice, not at all annoying

mrsboogie · 10/06/2008 10:54

mornin all

my OH is yet to express any interest in milk. It seems quite common though - wasn't that guy who used to be in blur who is now a foodie/farming type on the f word one series, waxing on about how he loved to drink it.

I wonder what it tastes like?

did anyone see in the papers today about the woman who returned to her hotel room in Blackpool feeling unwell after being out on a hen night only to give birth on the bathroom floor. 26 weeks she was. Said she had no idea she was up the duff and had read similar stories in magazones about other women and thought they were making it up. Baby rushed to hospital and doing ok. She's from Newcastle but is stuck in Blackpool with the baby until a space can be found in her local hospital...
What a momento from a night out eh?

jeanjeannie · 10/06/2008 11:27

mrsboogie I saw that story....she was dressed as a bumble bee apparently....! Perhaps the shape of the costume should've told her something.... Seriously though...how stressful...hope little one is doing ok.

Midwife just been round...Verity has only 2oz to put back on before she's back to birthweight....hurrah...boob-milk is working!

Where's the sun gone? Paddling pool is out and DD1 is annoyed as water isn't warming up...grrrr

johnworf · 10/06/2008 11:33

Did I read this right? Bumble Bee gives birth to baby at 26 weeks gestation?

rubs eyes and pinches herself. Exhaustion has obviously set in

How on earth can you NOT know you are pregnant???

And as for the breast milk....DH will have a sneaky drink if I let him. No idea what it tastes like but he said it's lovely.

Well done to Verity for sleeping and guzzling milk and putting on weight If only I could be applauded for the same thing

hedgepig · 10/06/2008 11:50

JW it is here

No idea how you don't know you are pg, the vomiting would be a dead give away for me .

mrsboogie · 10/06/2008 12:37

well, she said she carried on with periods and had no symptoms. What I can't understand is how she wouldn't have noticed the alien presence moving around, kicking and wriggling in her abdominal area for several weeks. What did she think it was - wind with arms and legs?

At least she managed to show the presence of mind after the birth that she hadn't before; ringing 999 and making an attempt at keeping baby alive.

All seems to be ok despite the fact that it wasn't born at the hospital - giving it that extra advantage obviously.

johnworf · 10/06/2008 15:14

Read the story - still can't believe it!

Maybe she's the bumble bee who thought she swallowed a fly. That'd explain all the movement in her tum!

Katherine has PDA we've been told. It's common in prem babies and they're holding off until tomorrow and giving her indomethacin which 'may' sort it out. They're hanging on until tomorrow to wait and see if she manages to start holding her own when they wean her down on the ventilator....it's probably the reason why she hasn't already managed to be weaned down of her own accord.

Fingers crossed that the meds will work...they don't always. If not, then we'll have to wait until she grows out of it but that means more time on the ventilator. Catch 22 really

And to make matters worse, I've started having a spot of blood coming out of my bum . Made a docs appointment but my MW seems to think it's due to piles. It's freaking me out I can tell you

mrsboogie · 10/06/2008 15:16

what's PDA jw?
