Miscarriage followed by a missed miscarriage

Hi everyone,
I had a miscarriage November 2023 and then a missed miscarriage in May 2024. Has anyone had a successful pregnancy after experiencing similar?

@Rainbowflower2024 Very well. Everyone was extremely kind and it was over before I knew it. Very minimal pain or bleeding afterwards and they signed me off from work for two weeks which was mentally very helpful.

Rainbowflower2024 · 22/05/2024 19:01

Ok that’s good to know. Mine is tomorrow and I’m worried about scarring that will affect future pregnancies. Did the actual operation take long?

@Rainbowflower2024 I think it's about 30 minutes. I was worried about scarring too but I think that's quite a rare complication.

Rainbowflower2024 · 23/05/2024 18:22

I have just had my surgical and it went smoothly. Just recovering now and staying positive!

@Rainbowflower2024 I'm glad it went well! I hope you recover quickly and get your sticky baby soon ❤️

PoppingTomorrow · 23/05/2024 18:35

Yes, I'm feeding him now.

pontipinemum · 23/05/2024 21:30

@Rainbowflower2024 hope you have a quick recovery. Glad to hear it went well. Mind yourself the next few days your hormones really can be shot and you might feel a bit all over the place.

I had three losses last year - a MMC in April, a CP early Sept and a MC at 7wks end of Oct. I unexpectedly fell pregnant again straight after the last loss (wasn't tracking and intended to wait for my referral to fertility consultant to come through before trying again) - will be 29wks pregnant on Monday and finally feeling brave enough to make a start on the nursery etc!

So sorry for your losses (and others on the thread currently in the midst of this) - it is such a tough thing to go through. I can't quite believe that this time last year I was grieving my MMC and had no idea I still had two further losses to go through before the year was done... And yet, here I am, one year on and everything looks very different.

Wishing you a speedy physical recovery and lots of luck for your rainbow bean when you're ready to try again 🙏🏼🌈💕

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband · 25/05/2024 00:29

I did but the other way around missed miscarriage followed by a miscarriage. Took 3 years in total but I did eventually have a full term pregnancy and a healthy baby but needed intervention. 3rd time lucky possibly but I do believe it wouldn't of happened if it wasn't for being referred to the right people.

Rainbowflower2024 · 27/05/2024 17:49

@TheBirdintheCave @pontipinemum did you both recover well from surgical? I have been having what feels like very strong period cramps and last night I passed a large clot. The cramps calmed down this morning and have come back this afternoon.

I am so sorry. Quite a few years ago now I had a stillbirth at 31 weeks followed by a miscarriage at 11 weeks and then a second miscarriage at 11 weeks. I then got pregnant again successfully and my daughter is healthy. There is always hope. Wishing you lots of luck.

TheBirdintheCave · 27/05/2024 22:44

@Rainbowflower2024 Yes I had very little bleeding or pain afterwards. Sorry to hear your recovery hasn't been as smooth :( Did the hospital give you a contact in case of complications?

Doodledeedum · 27/05/2024 22:53

So sorry for your losses

I had a MMC with medical treatment in may 2021 ( loss was around 5/6 weeks) identified with an early scan at week 7

I had another MMC in September 2021 (loss around 9 weeks, identified from bleeding and a scan at 14 weeks) this happened naturally in the end

I then fell pregnant in 2022 and carried to full term, healthy pregnancy for the most part. I discovered through scans that i had with prior pregnancies that I have fibroids and due to previous miscarriages was under consultation to keep an eye

I took it upon myself to double up folate and took 75mg aspirin everyday from conception to week 35 ( I did inform all medical professionals of this) and prior to falling pregnant I was taking magnesium ( which for the life of me I am not quite sure why I didn't continue once pregnant because I had horrendous sickness till about 4.5 months and magnesium is supposed to really help with this! )

My GP was great in that once I spoke to her about the fear of trying for a third time for my mental health declining, she sent me for blood tests and for a uterus scan to check for any obvious signs of concern however I fell pregnant just as I had the scan - which came back with no concerns apart from the fibroids.

All the best for your journey x

Rainbowflower2024 · 28/05/2024 00:10

@TheBirdintheCave yes and I called them earlier. They said they’ll check with the doctors and if it’s not normal they’ll call me back but I haven’t heard anything so it must be normal. The pains have calmed down now though

Rainbowflower2024 · 28/05/2024 00:12

@Doodledeedum thank you for sharing your story! It really does give me hope hearing you got your rainbow baby. Do you know what the gp was looking for with a blood test? I might call them over the next few days about it then and see what they say.

I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in April 23, followed by an early miscarriage at 6 weeks in July 23. I’ve just had a healthy baby in May 24. I did have recurrent miscarriage testing in July/August which was inconclusive, but was prescribed aspirin and heparin injections on the basis it couldn’t hurt. It also helped me psychologically to feel I was being proactive. I wish you all the best xx

Chamalala · 28/05/2024 00:32

I had 2 early miscarriages in 2023 (medical management for both), currently 22 weeks pregnant. The epu advised an early scan when I fell pregnant again and for this pregnancy I had progesterone from 6 to 16 weeks. The midwife referred at 6 weeks for an early scan and they agreed to prescribe progesterone even though I had only had 2 mcs.

pontipinemum · 28/05/2024 10:01

@Rainbowflower2024 sorry I just saw your message. I had a D&C and some fluid was retained. It was really painful. I was staying with my mum, she called an ambulance because she thought my appendix had burst 😳

Can you try and get a GP apointment today? That's good the pain has eased.

Rainbowflower2024 · 28/05/2024 15:44

@pontipinemum what was the outcome? I’m currently trying to get hold of the hospital but no one is answering as the pain has come back

OP posts:
pontipinemum · 28/05/2024 16:00

@Rainbowflower2024 it was in 2020 so a bit of a mess due to covid. I was put in a room for a few hours alone. Had a doctor ask 'how come you decided to miscarry'. Had a scan, was given stong pain killers and sent home.

Maybe try call the maternity unit?

Rainbowflower2024 · 30/05/2024 09:58

@TheBirdintheCave @pontipinemum hi both! Update - I had cramps still and I went out in public yesterday. I felt so much blood gushing out and I soaked my pants in public. It was horrible. I passed out more pregnancy tissue and went to hospital. They confirmed I had an incomplete mc even though I had the surgical last week. I have a scan tomorrow to check that everything has passed otherwise I’ll have to have another surgical. Good news is I’m no longer cramping so im hoping that is it so I can move on. It was a horrible experience yesterday.

pontipinemum · 30/05/2024 10:40

@Rainbowflower2024 oh god you poor thing! My 2nd MC, not the d&c one took about 6/8 weeks to fully pass, I had a few scans to see how it was going. But after that MC I got pregnant and the baby stuck so don't feel like because it was incomplete you are set back

Doodledeedum · 01/06/2024 21:53

@Rainbowflower2024
Hi I believe they were looking at my iron and thyroid levels x

TheBirdintheCave · 02/06/2024 08:05

@Rainbowflower2024 Oh god that's awful! I'm so glad you're ok though.
