No sickness - is this normal??

This is my first - I'm currently 9 weeks 3 days, first scan booked. I have minor symptoms, headaches, bloating, fatigue (but not extreme) and I'm much hungrier. But I've had zero sickness and barely any nausea.

Every thread I read I feel like I'm the odd one out, should I be worried I haven't had any??

Got me Feeling quite anxious about my first scan, terrified they're going to tell me something is wrong.

Definitely not unusual. I didn’t have any sickness either, and I know a few others who also avoided nausea throughout.
it’s hard but try your best not to worry, feeling sick, or not feeling sick, isn’t any kind of sign of how your pregnancy is progressing. It is most likely that you’re just one of the lucky ones!

AuroraAnimal · 21/05/2024 11:56

I've had four pregnancies - one early miscarriage and 3 dc.

I never experienced any nausea or sickness with any of them. No cravings, no bloating. No fatigue until I was 8 months + and it was literally just the extra weight and size of the bump causing me to struggle.

The only thing I had with all of them was very swollen ankles from 7 months plus and a baby bump. Until the bump showed though, other than a positive pregnancy test and a scan at 12 weeks there was nothing, I was just my totally normal self.

Although I suppose this is lucky compared to what some experience, it really is disconcerting, especially the first time around. All the pregnant women I knew were vomiting and fainting and falling asleep around at their desks and I felt like a bit of an imposter 😂

I'm expecting my third, and have never had any sickness or nausea throughout any of my pregnancies. I just count myself lucky!

Peonies12 · 21/05/2024 12:00

I think it’s common not to have nausea or sickness, you won’t a true representation here as people will likely only post if they’re struggling with something!

Cliffordthebigreddog · 21/05/2024 12:00

Not unusual at all, try not to worry. I’ve had 4 healthy children and I never felt sick at all
during pregnancy! Just lucky I guess xx

QueSyrahSyrah · 21/05/2024 12:02

@Lunamoon23 I'm 38 weeks now with a very wriggly, healthy baby and I haven't had a single day of nausea. I'd say enjoy your very good fortune and try not to worry! Congratulations x

Lunamoon23 · 21/05/2024 12:05

Aww thank you everyone!! That's really reassuring. I'm on a couple threads and virtually everyone in it is throwing up daily and struggling with terrible nausea and I feel the odd one out.
I do consider myself lucky that I'm not of course and wouldn't wish it upon myself, quite lucky I'm breezing through it so far! But when it's all new to you, and reading constant sickness and nausea symptoms it can almost make you panic that you aren't experiencing 'what you should' if that makes sense!

Baby 1 I was being sick around ten times a day with awful nausea and it was dreadful, started at around 5 weeks and lasted through the pregnancy.
Now 33 weeks pregnant with baby 2 and I've been sick about 5 times throughout with just a bit of nausea here and there.
If this pregnancy had come first then there wouldn't be such an age gap (almost 13 years!)
Enjoy it and congratulations

WiseDog · 21/05/2024 12:42

I was saying too I don't feel pregnant ha I am now nearly 20 weeks gone baby starting kicking now but had nothing no sore boobs no sickness I guess just lucky x

BreadAndWineFeelingFine · 21/05/2024 12:44

It's normal for some (very fortunate) women. Congrats, you get to skip the truly debilitating nausea some women get!

AlltheFs · 21/05/2024 12:46

I didn’t have any sickness in first trimester but I had a bit that started about 12 weeks - mostly related to tooth brushing and dishwasher/bins and cat food smell.

That went on right in to late second trimester, so you still have time!

But mine was very mild indeed. I was one of the irritating few that looked and felt absolutely amazing in pregnancy. Have never felt more well.

Alas once I stopped breastfeeding at 26 months I went back to feeling like absolute shite….

imnottoofussed · 21/05/2024 18:08

I didn't have any sickness at all but I did get nauseous if I didn't eat regularly. It was like I'd get a tiny bit hungry and then feel sick until I ate something

JRTfan · 21/05/2024 18:36

I had no symptoms at all early on, was my normal self and wouldn't have known I was pregnant if it wasn't IVF, and lack of periods obviously. I'm 35 weeks now and all I've had is a couple of fainting spells when blood pressure dropped and some abdominal pain caused by an inflamed gall bladder but zero sickness, cravings or anything else typical of pregnancy. I think we expect 'morning sickness' because that's what we see on TV and people who do have it are more likely to vocalise it but it's also common to have no or very little symptoms. They have no correlation with a healthy pregnancy either.

OooohAhhhh · 21/05/2024 18:45

Completely normal, I didn't have any sickness with both of my pregnancies and hardly had any symptoms at all with my second. We're the lucky ones!

I get a little bit of this, but it is hunger however I can't stop eating at the moment, like a human garbage bin hahahaha.

@BreadAndWineFeelingFine I certainly consider myself fortunate.

@OooohAhhhh very lucky, I always thought I'd suffer terribly with morning sickness as I've always been a sicky person. Even my period pains used to make me throw up! So I'm shocked but blessed xxx

I've had the sore boobs but not terribly so, but if one of the dogs stands on one when I'm lying down I certainly know about it and they get a quick shove to the other end of the bed haha. Other than tiredness and wanting to eat everything but the kitchen sink I feel normal.
Can't wait to start feeling baby, although I imagine it's quite a freaky feeling!

I was never sick throughout mine either, there was a period where I was starving all the time and if I didn't constantly eat I would feel sick like hunger pains, but that only lasted 7 days max and was about week 9 of my pregnancy.

patagoniamum · 21/05/2024 21:48

Congrats OP! Yes I had no sickness for Dd2 also to the point where we didn’t realise we were pregnant until 8 weeks! But I was unlucky with the heartburn front - was on gaviscon from like 22 weeks with horrible heartburn!!

good luck with your pregnancy :)

T2024 · 22/05/2024 07:19

No sickness here either and I'm nearly 10 weeks and have had good scans up till this point 🤞

I've been so hungry though and had quite alot of food aversion from weeks 7-9. I read all the forums and stressed out too that I wasn't being sick but some people just don't get nauseous.

BreadAndWineFeelingFine · 22/05/2024 09:40

@Lunamoon23 I hope that didn't come across as snarky in any way! Not meant to - just saying no need to worry, and goodness I wish I hadn't been so ill...I weighed less when I'd had my baby than I did before I got pregnant!

Wishing you well in your pregnancy!

HappyAsASandboy · 22/05/2024 11:21

Totally normal not to have any nausea at all.

I have had three successful pregnancies including one multiple pregnancy, and two early miscarriages. No nausea at all through any of them bar a twinge or two when I walked past the Cornish Pasty shop at 8.30 every morning on the way to work. I count myself very lucky!

SpringerFall · 22/05/2024 11:23

I had no sickness

KeepSmiling89 · 22/05/2024 11:26

Hi OP

I've had 2 pregnancies - the first, I was riddled with constant nausea - had to eat a greasy takeaway to relieve myself and actually be sick. Unfortunately turned out to be a MMC found at 12 week scan.

My 2nd pregnancy, I felt slightly queasy when out for a run which prompted me to take a test (it was positive), but didn't feel sick at all for the rest of the pregnancy. DD is now 2 and a half :)

Blueberry1990 · 22/05/2024 11:29

Yes! I'm nearly 30 weeks and had zero sickness and very mild nausea a few times
