So anxious, I’m 37 weeks and currently waiting for my csection. It’s my third and final one and I’m stressed 😂 send me happy csection stories please

I've had two very happy planned Cs, was up and about quickly and they were really positive experiences, even though the second was o officially an emergency one because DS decided to arrive 8 hours ahead of the scheduled time!

Congratulations and good luck.

Thank you! So scared for the spinal 😅

I had a section five months ago. It was amazing. If I get pregnant again I'm signing up for one.
The spinal was the bit I was most nervous about, but everyone in the room is so kind. I had a nurse holding my hand until it was done. About five minutes after spinal was done my partner was brought in.
The anaesthetist and nurses etc were chatting throughout the op and saying reassuring things. Everyone including the surgeons did a mini bet when baby was delivered due to his weight as he was so big.
It was so chilled out and lovely.
It did hurt when the anaesthetic wore off, but it's what you expect really so can't complain. I was up walking within 8 hours so the pain wasn't debilitating, but do take whatever painkillers they offer. I was on paracetamol and ibuprofen when discharged 24 hours later and that worked.
It was amazing. So glad I chose the c section.
I hope today goes well, which I'm sure it will! Look forward to meeting your baby!

You won't even notice the spinal, they numb the area first! It'll be fine!

AstralSpace · 16/04/2024 08:12

You'll be fine. My planned c section was the best birth by far. I felt so calm with a fabulous team who explained everything that was going on.

All the best for today Smile

MagratsDanglyCharms21 · 16/04/2024 08:15

Yep I didn't have any pain from the spinal at all. The whole experience was so positive. I was scared too but wouldnt be now ive experienced it! **Congrats!

whatsitcalledwhen · 16/04/2024 08:18

No pain from the spinal and an amazing experience here! Would do it again in a heartbeat if I had another little one.

Thinking of you - let us know when they are here if you get a chance Flowers

theDudesmummy · 16/04/2024 08:22

My section was a fantastic experience. No pain ever at any point.

BeakyPIinders · 16/04/2024 08:24

Do you know what you are having 😊

Petrie99 · 16/04/2024 08:27

I was terrified of the spinal due to needle fear. They put a canula in first and numb the area, you just have to hold still and my partner could hold my hand along with the midwife. They were so gentle and kind. Our c section was a positive experience. We had our own playlist, it felt calm and the operating theater didn't feel as scary as I expected. Baby was out in 5 mins, whole thing done in 35. Breastfeeding established in recovery room straight away with skin to skin. No complications, straightforward recovery, out for walks within 3 days. Just listen to your body, keep control of your breathing during the op and have someone hold your hand and distract you. I opted not to look and had the curtain up, this helped. Good luck x

I had my only child by C-section when I was in my 40’s. The whole process was so easy, painless and stress free. I was in and out of hospital within 36 hours with no complications.

It was easier than some dental treatment I’ve had!

Have a great day and good luck with your new arrival.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/04/2024 08:30

Congratulations!

I was nervous about the spinal but it was fine. However, it did bring my blood pressure crashing down and I was very sick. Apparently that's not uncommon, but nobody had warned me that might happen. So be prepared for that. Otherwise it was a great experience.

whatsitcalledwhen · 16/04/2024 08:33

Oh one unexpected thing I had was shivering during - apparently it's completely normal and just down to the anaesthetic so don't worry at all if your teeth are suddenly chattering 😂 I found it quite funny and just went with it, try to go with the flow if it does - it didn't hurt even one tiny bit, any of it!

shellyleppard · 16/04/2024 08:38

I was taking bets with the anaesthetist on when my son was going to appear.....i was absolutely petrified and couldn't stop shaking. The whole team were lovely so reassuring. Good luck for today and please keep us updated x

idontlikealdi · 16/04/2024 08:40

I had an EMCS and honestly even that was fine. I wasn't aware of the spinal going in at all really, they numb you first. I did throw up a lot during it but because it was emcs I had eaten quite recently and didn't have a pre med anti emetic which I think you do with a planned cs.

I had the section at 10pm, was in the shower at 10am, had the catheter out and was able to walk (albeit slowly!) to nicu afterwards. Was discharged the next morning.

crumpet · 16/04/2024 08:43

First one, surgeons chatted about golf. Second one we asked to see the sex if the baby rather than anyone announcing it. Both times the team had music doodling away in the background and everyone was very nice. Both emergencies due to pre-eclampsia

rewilded · 16/04/2024 08:45

I was the same on my 3rd OP. You will be fine. The anesthetist gave me something for my anxiety - I was a mess.

All the best today.

rewilded · 16/04/2024 08:46

Yes I had this too. It was horrible.

singingthypraises · 16/04/2024 08:48

You will be fine. I had all my children via sections too (mix of GA and spinal) It's ok to be nervous but I promise it's over so quickly and before you know it you'll be reading these comments with your baby safely in your arms and the whole spinal thing will be but a memory. Good luck.

stargazer02 · 16/04/2024 08:48

3 C's but only one planned. Absolutely breeze. Planned one was faster recovery overall than 3 friends from pregnancy yoga who had vaginal deliveries, but slower than 2 others. No complications. Thing I remember most was feeling cold and thirsty just after getting the anesthetic but then I got distracted and was fine.

Babies all healthy, no problems bonding or breastfeeding. I was back to mostly normal life within a few days, just took me a bit longer to get to standing.
Obviously don't take pain meds if you don't need them but equally don't be a martyr. Take them if you do need them.

Igmum · 16/04/2024 08:50

No advice just good luck and lots of love xx

Olika · 16/04/2024 09:19

I had emergency c section 2 years ago and I found it very straightforward and quick. Didn't feel spinal at all and the team was so friendly and efficient. All the best for today! 🙂

TokyoSushi · 16/04/2024 09:23

Oh it's so fun! Agree that the spinal is a bit bleurgh, but more of an odd sensation than particularly painful, we had music on during mine and chatting, I also quite enjoyed the bit where they kind of slide you off the bed!

Good luck OP, you're going to be just fine.

csectionaaaaaah · 16/04/2024 23:33
