Wondering what fabric conditioner or washing powder you use for newborns?
It says online don't use anything just hot water but I can't see how that would get stains off. Is the comfort fabric conditioner with the baby on front suitable?

I just always used Aldi’s own. I’ve never used fabric conditioner.

Welshcake15 · 13/03/2024 15:27

I used Fairy gel detergent and softener with no problems.

Suchardchoccy · 13/03/2024 15:27

I've always used Aldi non bio liquid and fairy softener and I have a 2yo, 1yo and expecting a 3rd

Helloandgoodmorning2 · 13/03/2024 15:29

Mine are grown now, but I always used Ecover powder and no conditioner. The least artificial fragrances that they breathe in, the better.

SoftPillowAllNight · 13/03/2024 18:38

We have a water softener fitted so haven't used fabric conditioner in years!

Rosesanddaisies1 · 13/03/2024 18:46

Just Persil non bio, same as all our clothes. Don’t bother with fabric conditioner, biggest rip off going!

Parker231 · 13/03/2024 18:47

Used the same washing liquid as the family wash but don’t use fabric conditioner.

Danikm151 · 13/03/2024 18:48

Fabric conditioner isn’t needed.
fairy non bio worked a treat with a spoon of stain remover - napisan was good

CheshireCat1 · 13/03/2024 18:52

I used to use Lux soap flakes, I don’t know if they’re still available. I’ve never used a conditioner, but always rinse well.

InTheRainOnATrain · 13/03/2024 18:53

Whatever non bio is offer, I’m not brand loyal. Don’t use fabric softener.

GoodnightAdeline · 13/03/2024 18:53

Fairy non bio, no softener.

KCSIE · 13/03/2024 18:55

I used supermarket own brand non -bio washing powder along with antibacterial laundry cleanser when mine were newborns, now 3.5 and 10m. No fabric conditioner though, never used it.

PoppingTomorrow · 13/03/2024 18:56

Is napisan better than bio detergent, then?

I planned to use non-bio but I wasn't sure it would get stains out.

yikesanotherbooboo · 13/03/2024 20:02

I used to use fairy non bio . I've never used conditioner. If I had a baby now I would wash their clothes in the same powder( Lidl) that I wash the rest of our clothes in.

Screamingabdabz · 13/03/2024 20:06

Non bio (any) and nobody ever needs to use fabric conditioner. It’s a completely eco-unfriendly non product. Wash a high temp to get rid of sick/poo bacteria.

MrsR87 · 13/03/2024 20:07

I’ve always washed my one year old and three year old’s clothes in the same detergent as the rest of the household. We don’t use fabric conditioner. I also had the Dettol laundry cleanser on hand for any particularly grim loads of washing.

GoodnightAdeline · 13/03/2024 20:09

On a side note I don’t use softener on my kids clothes but put a few drops in for things like knitted jumpers. Do you not find they go really crackly and awful if you don’t?

BertieBotts · 13/03/2024 20:10

Fabric softener doesn't do anything for stains.

I used vanish spray plus a normal, bio detergent and for poo/weaning stains you can hang the clothes in as much sunlight as you can access - outside on a sunny day is best, but through a window, outside on a cloudy day is also fine. Like magic for those stains.

Startyabastard · 13/03/2024 20:10

Do 'Surcare' make washing detergents? They make washing up liquid that is meant to be good.

No not really. What do you mean by crackly?

Essexsoup · 13/03/2024 20:11

Ecover. The less toxins the better and artificial fragrance isn’t good for anyone.
The apple blossom and almond softener smells soooo good.

MummyJ36 · 13/03/2024 20:12

I used Surcare with both DCs when they were newborns. Also washed any baby things in the sink with Surcare washing up liquid.

FirstFallopians · 13/03/2024 20:12

Whatever was on offer when I did the shop…

Genuinely didn’t occur to me to wash their stuff in anything other than what I was already using for our own clothes.
