I dot know but now im thinking was this a big impact to my bump on the side it did kinda hurt a little bit

I’m no medical professional but I wouldn’t say you need it. also at that gestation I’d think the baby is super super protected in there so I wouldn’t worry.

from personal experience I had a nasty bump on my bump that resulted in a huge purple bruise on my tummy and the midwife was not concerned at all, I was a little further on than you.

if it is really bothering you I think a midwife would reassure you. I worried about everything during pregnancy! I completely understand your anxiety but I honestly don’t think this is something you should worry about at all

Wallawallakoala · 15/02/2024 02:33

Rationally

  • soft bed
  • not a high fall
  • baby very well protected
  • so many people will have experienced bumps on their bumps

Edited

I just feel so stupid for doing that, I highly doubt that would bruise but it did kinda hurt a little for like 2 seconds after but 100 %not enough to bleed

ever since the midwife said that to me im so over worried and I feel really silly for letting myself into bed like that it wasn't on my bump head on not like I fell into bed on my front but my side so it did slightly hit the bump to bed

I think if im still thinking about it in the morning ill call the non urgent number as you can have it up to 72 hours after an incident right ?

thank you sometimes I just need someone to explain to me, the bed is semi soft hah the fall was jus from standing up etc just feel like is this equivalent to a fall? on the side

Honestly I don’t think they’d even see it as an incident, I don’t mean to be harsh or anything but i think if you call they will put your mind at rest immediately I doubt they would even suggest seeing them for an examination or anything like that.

i fell into the edge of a concrete step which caused the bruise and all was fine she’s 6 now haha!

Wallawallakoala · 15/02/2024 02:41

Beds are soft generally sorry I mean like it wasn’t into a hard surface. You’ll get so many people on here saying they’ve fallen down stairs or into the floor or even been in car accidents and it’s all been fine.

ejndwejnfk · 15/02/2024 02:46

yeah I get that I dont think I will call I think im being silly I just keep replaying it in my head wondering how hard I hit it
hate that im like this
by morning hopefully I forget 🤐

No it wasn’t necessary. The baby has soooo much protection and is floating around in a safe bubble of fluid. Many layers of your body, muscle etc. you’ll feel better after some sleep!

Marynotsocontrary · 15/02/2024 02:51

Are you Rhesus negative too @Wallawallakoala?

shellybon · 15/02/2024 03:01

Just on what someone said about falling down the stairs...I did at a similar gestation to you. I cried all morning until my appointment to see a midwife as I was so worried. She reassured me and said the baby is so far down in the pelvis at this stage that they wouldn't have felt a thing and that I had hurt myself rather than hurting my baby. I'm sure everything is ok but if it will stop you worrying then just call and see what they say.

I defiantly wouldn't compare into falling down the stairs which I can imagine was hard! and you didnt get the injection?
was they only not worried as it wasn't on the bump? or does that not matter any fall counts?

I'm A- and fell over the dog in my first pregnancy. It wasn't a big impact blow and I wasn't given the injection. I only recieved one after giving birth.
Without being a dr I feel pretty safe saying you'll be sweet 😊

As you said it "hurt" I think you should call (I'm a midwife). You have fallen and your abdomen has been knocked causing pain. Any impact to your abdomen that may have caused the placenta to be disturbed is a sensitising event requiring anti D, so I would say its worth calling them to discuss :)
I'm sure it's absolutely fine and it's unlikely the placenta has been disturbed but there's no way of being 100% sure so it's best to be over cautious.
And yes up to 72 hours is fine.

KnittingKnewbie · 15/02/2024 08:30

You may not know but if your partner's blood type is also RH- your baby can only be RH- and so Anti D is unnecessary

OopsieeDaisy · 15/02/2024 09:34

I would phone up and check, I had an incident that I deemed to be quite minor but like you I kept going over it in my head. I phoned up to ask, thinking they would just put my mind at rest, and was told to go and have the anti d as a precaution. It won’t do any harm so the potential benefits of having the injection if you’re advised to far outweigh any negatives!

Marynotsocontrary · 15/02/2024 13:14

I think I'd rlng and ask too.
They might ask you to come in just to be on the safe side.

Cali8 · 15/02/2024 13:26

If it makes you feel any better, I fainted at work around 12 weeks and collapsed (hitting the bump), and they didn’t give me anti d injection then. I’ve since had an antibody check at my 28 week point (when I did have the injection as planned) and it all showed up as fine and no antibodies. My midwife said at the time to generally only worry if you bleed, but that I’d done the right thing by checking. I’d personally ring them just for reassurance and to put your mind at rest! I’m sure it’ll be fine though, as it sounds like it was only a very soft knock.

Marynotsocontrary · 15/02/2024 13:35

They gave it to me when I slipped and fell onto my back, not bump. No bleeding. I think they gave it as a precaution.

Actually that's not true! It's really interesting, but even if both parents are rh neg, there's a tiny tiny chance the baby can be positive. Something to do with there is actually two sort of 'markers' for pos/neg, a main one and a mini one. I can't remember it exactly but look it up if you're interested 😊

OP, have you mentioned your anxiety to your midwife? It does seem quite excessive, and it might be good to see if there's any help available?

ejndwejnfk · 15/02/2024 13:46

thanks guys I rang them they aren't concerned I feel stupid silly but glad I checked
she wasn't worried as had no ongoing pain and babys moving
