Hi everyone!
I found out this morning I'm pregnant with my first child so still very early.
Does anyone have any tips, anything I should or shouldn't do?
I've been taking Folic Acid, should I add in any other supplements?

Congratulations!! I found out I'm pregnant last week with my first. I'm taking folic acid and vitamin D, following all the NHS guidelines with what to avoid in terms of eating and drinking. I've been too nervous to do much exercise but going to try a swim tomorrow and the gym on Friday, the recommendation is that you are ok to carry on doing everything you were before so fingers crossed!

How are you feeling after the news??

Yes, you need to take high strength vitamin D as well as folic acid. Don't take anything that contains vitamin A, too much of it can harm the baby.

If your bmi is over 30, you'll need to contact your gp for a higher strength folic acid as well.

Avoid foods with a listeria risk or very high vit a content (pate, liver, deli meats, undercooked meat etc). I so very nearly caved and got deli meat from my local sainsburys, and a couple of weeks later there was a product recall over listeria concerns so I'm glad I didn't!

Nhs guidelines have a full list of what to avoid in pregnancy.

Don't worry too much about your diet/eating healthy, food aversion and nausea can be a bitch in 1st trimester so just eat what you can stomach.

Congrats!
