Ive woken up on my due date still pregnant of course! Please to me your labour and delivery stories, what were your signs, did you have any & what made you go to the hospital? How long was your labour for your first baby & how far along were you when going into labour? Really want to avoid an induction if I can and only have a sweep as a last resort hoping for a spontaneous labour!

The sickness could definitely be things starting.

Just start using the tens machine as soon as you get any pain / discomfort.

LimeOrangeLemon · 30/11/2023 11:53

Yes I think the sickness could be a sign. Fingers crossed for you OP!

I’ve now got what feels like stabbing in the side of my hip 😬

First baby was 4 days early. I felt a slight ache under the bump. Within an hour, I went from small ache to 'what is going on!' Got to hospital, I was in established labour and the midwife gave me Paracetamol as she said the pain was "mind over matter and we'll save the good stuff for when you need it most". More experienced midwife checked and I had gone from 3 to 8cm dilation in 2 hours - finally got gas n air. My contractions were back to back contractions with none of the magazine reading or talking in between that I'd imagined. First baby arrived in 4.5 hours start to finish.

Only advice: Try to stay as calm as possible and upright for as long as you can. The week before labour I was advised by my midwife to sit on an exercise ball to encourage baby into position too.

@Artichoke88 That sounds fast!!

Ive got my first sweep this morning 😬 really wanted to avoid one if I could! I rejected one at 40+2 but this is my last resort before induction to help things along I think but atleast I’ll know if there’s been any progress with the random spirts of cramping/tightening/back aches etc. I’ve read latent labour can very much stop start so I’m hoping I’ve had some of that bit 😂 wishful thinking

Good luck! Honestly the sweep wasn't bad, and they'll be able to feel if you're dilated at all yet, so will be good to have that info.

Anonymousm · 01/12/2023 10:34

Well I’ve had it, she had a good root around 😂, she said cervix very thin could feel his head and got around his head with 2 fingers but said only fit one finger but I must be very thin and stretchy for her to get 2 in, had a little bit of blood and I’d say it wasn’t really painful i could just feel a ton of pressure in my pelvic area

Sounds promising ! Do you have a birthing ball to bounce on? I'm 39+2 and feel like this waiting is already driving me insane so can only
Imagine how you're feeling!

Anonymousm · 01/12/2023 10:46

@TulipVictory I left work pretty early aswell at 35 weeks hoping it would be earlier but it’s realllyyyy dragged!

I do have a birthing ball, so I’ll get on that in abit after I’ve entertained my little cockatiel for abit 😆

I feel like nervous now because I know the end is insight now, she didn’t want to talk inductions with me but she’s said our trust is 40+12 and have it booked for Monday as an outpatient I’m just waiting for someone to phone me up if nothing happens!

Fingers crossed you’re not waiting as long as me!

It was fast and I was all prepared for an extremely slow labour - magazines, snacks etc. 😂 Take it one step at a time. Soon you'll have your baby in your arms and will have your own story to tell. Wish you all the best

Anonymousm · 01/12/2023 12:53

@Artichoke88 Im hoping for a slow first chunk of labour and fast active labour, I have my lucozade and snack bag ready too even though I’ve started munching on my humbugs already 😂. I’ll go and do the big food shop after with partner and tempt fate I think!

thanks - Hopefully a smooth story to tell! 😆

Well, I had my bloody show after the shop on Friday night and then had period/back cramping through Friday night and all day yesterday that were getting regular 8-10 mins apart lasting 50 seconds or so, carried on through last night but still not any closer or intense, manageable. Feels like my back being squeezed at the bottom and a heavy feeling in my bum that builds and then goes again, along with a bit of tightness in the belly, had my tens machine stuck on basically all day and night and tried to sleep in spurts - feeling knackered this morning and feel this induction looming over me tomorrow 😥Reallyyy didn’t want to end up with that but I’ve been told I can probably do it as an out patient as really wanted to do majority of it at home labouring or as long as I could handle it!

Get walking, bouncing on your ball and sex (if you feel up to it) sperm contains a hormone that softens the cervix

Anonymousm · 04/12/2023 05:44

@TulipVictory Ive tried what I can, walking, positions on the ball, bouncing on it not sex though because I’m just not comfortable enough and I don’t think partner would come near me 😆.

Ive once again had an awful sleep drifting in and out and woken up by the contractions it’s absolutely draining for days on end! Deffo ready for the end to be in sight

Any progress today ? 😊

Mercury2702 · 04/12/2023 22:03

Aww I feel for you op!

I only have the one ds but he was an induction at 41+5. He was quite happy in there. My induction lasted 8 days as they kept wanting me to have a break between pessaries and needed to wait for a bed on labour ward when it wasn’t a busy day. Wasn’t all that great though if I’m honest, from breaking my waters and putting me in the drip my labour was 12 hrs 46 mins, ended with an episiotomy and manual removal of placenta in theatre 🙈 always hoped that if I do have another that it will be a much smoother entrance

Anonymousm · 05/12/2023 06:52

had my baby a few hours ago, bloody hell - what an experience! Pessary in at 2.30 got to about 10pm and it was like holy shit - I’m in pain every minute, wanted pain relief - I’d only had my tens for days, dealt with it very well the midwife was shocked said I was 4cm but so thin and all the rest of it, waters gone she rang delivery suite as soon as I got up there I progressed and started to have the bearing down contractions! Up until the pushing I was happy with the induction. I had to have a cut, stitches and lost a lot of blood 1.5 litres there about so I’m assuming they’ll want to check my iron and not on a drip summet to do with uterus oxytocin and fluids .

Harley was born around 3am, 8.4 pound!! Lots of hair 🥰

I've been checking in every so often to see if that baby has finally arrived! Congratulations and well done! Enjoy baby Smile

Waitingfordoggo · 05/12/2023 08:48

Aww, congratulations OP! Sounds like it was a slow build up and then pretty quick after the induction. Hope you’re feeling ok and enjoying all the snuggles ❤️

Chanhedforthis · 05/12/2023 08:50

I was 39+4, passed my mucus plug then rushed to the hospital, I was 4cm and they wanted to send me home 😂.

Waters broke then everything went really quickly she was born 16.17 that day.

Had sex the night before to try and bring on labour as i was fat and fed up.

Dontmesswiththeyakult · 05/12/2023 10:15
