Hi all. We're having our first baby, and my husband wants to go skiing with his friends for a week in Jan when I'll be 34w pregnant. It would take him most of a day to get home. On one hand I want him to enjoy his time before baby, on the other I can't help worry this isn't a good idea as I could go into early labour, and also I'm a little bothered that I can't go and he's not overly worried about the timeframe! How would you feel/would you be OK with it/ let or not let yours go in this situation? I'd really appreciate any thoughts/advice as I'm stuck about how I feel/ whether to be OK with this! xx

Oh God, let him go now while it's still possible. You can have a lovely time with your feet up and the TV to yourself. Neither of you will get much time to relax for a good while once the baby comes, so you may as well let him have a last hurrah.

@SylvieLaufeydottir

Well, sure. OP could have a miscarriage at 16 weeks or 22 weeks. Or a placental abruption at 29 weeks. These things happen. So you either stay at home all the time for nine months, or you play the odds

My miscarriages were at 8 weeks and 16 weeks.

What a stupid and thoughtless point to make.

Play the odds...,👍

My husband went to Turkey for a fortnight (with our other son) when I was 37 and 38 weeks pregnant and it didn’t bother me 🤷‍♀️

Thanks so much everyone, these insights have been so helpful.
I did actually have a late loss at 20w earlier this year which has made this pregnancy so challenging and more anxiety inducing. I see statistics in an entirely different way now..as I was the 1 in 100. So playing the odds does feel more difficult to do. I know it's not impossible I could go into early labour, as some of you have verified!
My other concern is with skiing being so high risk, what if he injures himself and is on crutches and can't then drive, or breaks an arm!
I think I'm going to say we see how the pregnancy progresses over the next 8w and see how I feel, asking him not to commit to anything financially until as late as possible... xx

I know skiing is never going to be totally without risk of breaking a limb, but surely it is not too much to ask that he tones down his risk taking now that he is about to become a father !!
