Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fingerwoman · 11/03/2008 21:02

nope, don't

SoupDragon · 11/03/2008 21:02

Yes.

S1ur · 11/03/2008 21:02

yes

kayzisbroody · 11/03/2008 21:03

yes

Jojay · 11/03/2008 21:04

Yes

Heated · 11/03/2008 21:10

I didn't, as I like surprises and having gone through the whole dreaded labour thing, it was just a wow moment.

However, most ppl do find out or at least that is what the Senior MW said and most of my friends/family did too. My brother likes everything planned (room colour, name etc) whilst SIL just couldn't wait

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 21:13

I have my scan tomorrow and dh and I aren't talking about it until we go in and they can tell us IF we can find out, sometimes baby doesn't sit right and would be typical if we decided yes and baby was curled up being modest lol

didn't with dd1
did with dd2 but then she wasn't being modest so really hav no choice to know lol

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 21:14

definitely.

ArrietyClock · 11/03/2008 21:14

NO!!! S'like unwrapping the pressie early, surely? (Mind you, depending on where you are, they might not tell you anyway...)

S1ur · 11/03/2008 21:16

Trust me. It is a farking surprise when from out of your fanjo comes an actual baby.

Regardless of whether you have found out the sex.

Alishanty · 11/03/2008 21:17

I think yes. With ds I was so glad we found out as we had both been convinced he was going to be a girl, it gave us a chance to get our heads round the idea and prepare. I am pg again and will be finding out if possible.

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 21:19

arrietyclock I was always the one found rooting about in parents wardrobes etc the weeks before christmas looking for what I was getting, I never could wait!!

we'll see tomorrow, am not sure if I'll need rest of pg to get around having a boy seeing as I have 2 dds and thats what am used to but not making decision until tomorrow lol

Youcannotbeserious · 11/03/2008 21:21

I vote for yes.

I couldn't wait to know for sure, even though I was totally convinced he was a boy.

kaballie · 11/03/2008 21:21

Nooooo!! The most awesome thing is finding out what it is. what's the suprise otherwise? Ooooh, look, it's a baby. Not exciting. Don't do it. Please....

MissHaversham · 11/03/2008 21:21

I'm amazed so many have said yes, I thought most wouldn't.
I definitely wouldn't, in fact one of my (minor) regrets with my 3 births is that I was told the sex before they were put into my arms. I do love the idea of gazing into that little face for a bit and not knowing, then finding out myself.
Guess I'm just weird then.

abigaillockhart · 11/03/2008 21:24

No vote over here. I thought that if I found out I'd regret it and wish I didn't know (if that makes any sense )

Also, if you do find out, don't tell everyone the name you've chosen. A friend of mine recently went in for a planned C-section, so when the text came with baby boy, (name), born on (date) etc. it felt a bit less exciting.

slinkiemalinki · 11/03/2008 21:25

Brilliant Slur
Totally depends on your situation. #1 couldn't wait to find out, #2 couldn't wait either as was hoping for the other kind (indications are promising!). If I ever get to #3 maybe I will leave it a surprise?!

S1ur · 11/03/2008 21:26

kabellie you are ahving a laugh!

ooh look a baby = not exciting, good grief!
I can assure you that finding out at the hospital is a lovely surprise and looking at you baby for the first time is more than a little sodding exciting.

pah.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 11/03/2008 21:33

dont do it

must be a bore for midwives

no more 'its a.......'

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 21:34

didn't know with either of our two. and not by choice, but because the trust wouldn't tell you and we didn't ahve the money to go private.

this time, if this pregnancy makes it, we're going to find out.

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 21:35

the midwives never did 'it's a . . . ' with us, they let me or DH look first.

Lizzylou · 11/03/2008 21:37

NO, I really wanted to and DH stopped me, both times. Was totally shocked that Ds1 was a boy, was sure he was a girl.

My ex-boss knew the sex, named the baby in utero so when said baby was born, it was rather an anticlimax.

Trust me, you'll be pleased whatever and it is nice to be surprised (and I am exactly the same re: christmas/birthday presents etc, I hate surprises.)

expatinscotland · 11/03/2008 21:38

how can giving birth to a healthy infant be in any way anticlimactic?

VictorianSqualor · 11/03/2008 21:42

expat, I may be able to get hold of some urine sample test sticks, would you want them if I could? No guarantees, but it is possible

To the OP, personally I found out with DD, not with DS, and pg again and haven't found out, though I felt everything 'surprise' wise was taken away from me with both, knew when they were coming and their names etc beforehand so for me not knowing the sex was giving me an extra 'wow' iyswim.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 11/03/2008 21:43

i did not find out 1 - 4
did find out 5

not found out 6
