IVF pregnancies - Spring 2024

Anyone here in a similar position? I'm feeling a bit of an odd one out on forums now where I don't feel pregnant pregnant and I don't feel infertile infertile, and thought I'd see if others were in the same, tentative situation. I don't feel like I'm ready to join the main May 2024 gang until I'm more confident this will continue.

I'm only 4 weeks 5 days :/

Dating scan is tomorrow and still no symptoms have returned so preparing for the worst. My partner is already planning how to announce the baby to our families and who he’s going to phone first. AIBU by getting angry and short with him?

I’ve also picked up a UTI so the antibiotics are making me feel nauseous!

How is everyone else doing?

Hi @IVFAlone is it your 12 week scan? Good luck! Mine is on Tues. have you had a discussion about who should be told first or has your partner already made the decision? My sickness hasn’t been so bad this last week, although I still geel sick a lot. I’m also very tired.

@PollywithaP yes my 12 week scan! But all my symptoms have disappeared so a little worried for it.

I think because I’m worried, I don’t even want to think about telling anyone yet and that’s all he can talk about

@IVFAlone I completely get that and had a bit of a disagreement with DH over it. I told people bit by bit. You have to do what you’re comfortable with. Try not to worry about symptoms, a friend of mine has just had tiredness and is 20 weeks now. Wish you and @PollywithaP lots of luck for your upcoming scans ❤️❤️

@IVFAlone Symptoms dont mean your pregnancy is healthy. You can have HG and have bad news. Dont focus on that. They literally mean nothing at all.

As for being angry with your partner... I do think it is a bit unreasonable. Obviously your anxiety and your feelings are 100% valid. But he is excited! Dont be angry with him for being excited!
And hopefully you can also be excited after your scan tomorrow!

@ASGIRC how are you getting on?

@IVFAlone i don’t really have symptoms either tbh, I’m just more tired and my asthma is worse. Not sure if it’s the low dose prednisolone dampening down my symptoms or that’s just how pregnancy would be for me either way. I stop the pred in a week and I’m a little concerned that my asthma will get worse again and I’m not looking forward to that.

Did everyone here tell their families by 12 weeks? We are 11 weeks today, I’m not sure whether to wait a bit longer. I nearly slipped up talking to SIL yesterday and she’s coming to visit at the end of November. I’m really hoping we have our test results by then, but our 12 week scan isn’t until 12w6d.

I started feeling the baby this week! It basically feels like gas, but the way you end up figuring out it isnt is the amount of times it happens and where it happens. But also, if you try to focus on the feeling, you stop feeling it! Its really bizarre!

I told my family at 7 weeks, after the first scan. Then I had another scan at 9 weeks, and told some more people, then I ended up going to the EPU a 10, 11 and 12 weeks (different issues, none of it was an issue!), and had scans at each of those visits, so would tell more people, as I felt reassured things were ok.

After my 12 week scan I stopped worrying about who knew. Apart from work, as I havent told them yet, so havent put it on social media.
If my work situation was a bit different, I would have put it on social media after the 12 week scan.

@thislittlebird I told my closest friends immediately, then most family and friends after 8 week scan, my mum I waited until 12 weeks scan, then work I’ve just told at 17 weeks (because bump getting too hard to hide). So everyone knows now but I wouldn’t put anything on social media until possibly the baby shower in March which friends are insisting on throwing me! I’m not a big social media poster anyway.
Theres no right answer as to when to tell people- it’s totally your choice!

@Misty84 my best friend knows and my boss, but that’s all. Oh and one work friend from work who is on mat leave. I’m worried about the NT and NIPT test results still to come, if it wasn’t for those we might have told parents already, and unfortunately they’ll be quite late at 13-14 weeks probably. Nice of your friends! No one will be throwing me a shower, I can bet on that. I’ve basically ended up with very few friends after such a long time isolating myself. I don’t especially want one since I’m not into them, but telling people will remind me how few people there are to tell really.

I have told work but I’m unlikely to put anything on social media. For the reasons mentioned above I’m unlikely to post, I feel like a dick reappearing after years of being absent from friendships. Not that they made any effort with me either.

@thislittlebird haha yes, it is confusing! It doesnt feel like a kick or anything. Just gas bubbles. And only if Im sitting still. If Im up and doing things, I feel nothing.
I expect this will change as time passes. Currently I still have no bump, and I do have an anterior placenta, but I feel her on the other side, where the placenta isnt!

I'm nearly 13 weeks now and feel huge already. Getting reliable wiggles daily now, even when standing up which surprises me as it tickles 😂

@TheBirdintheCave this is your second so I’m guessing you’re getting bigger earlier? I’m not sure what to do about clothes right now because they’re fine but no idea when that will change. Annoying having to buy a maternity winter coat for 3 months, I will get a cheap or second hand one probably.

@ASGIRC weird! I’ll have to ask what side everything is on at my 12 week scan.

@thislittlebird Yeah I'm showing way earlier than I was with my son. I think my stomach muscles have just given up the ghost 😂

I’m thirteen weeks with my first and already wearing maternity leggings as the ones I own are so uncomfortable already!

@countrypunk it makes it feel very real doesn’t it? I had a slight freak out last week about having a massive bump so hoping mine grows gradually and don’t just wake up with a watermelon 😂

awww exciting everyone feeling the wiggles!
i am waiting impatiently to feel a proper kick. You know one that makes ur belly actually move. I feel like the wiggles are so strong it must be this week I will feel a good kick!
Get my NIPT results tomorrow. been waiting weeks and weeks. Bit nervous about it. Booked a scan for on Thursday too because waiting until 20 weeks 6 days is far too long to wait lol

Hi ladies 😊 hope you are doing well, exciting news about the first movements, looking forward to that too!!

I had my 12- week scan last week, it went well, no concerns at all and babies are well and active ☺️

Just wondering how long the NIPT results with NHS take, does anyone know? Do you get a phonecall or they're emailed? Did you have yours with NHS or privately @CazzyM1983 ? My booking appointment with the midwife is all the way on the 13th November when I'll be 13+5 (imagine!), so I don't expect any news from them before that.

I'm also having a home fetal Doppler to be delivered today, I'm prepared not to be able to find the heartbeats easily esp considering both placentas are anterior but I'm happy to spend hours trying to get them :)

I've ordered my first maternity leggings too!

@Summerishere83 I would have been 12+4 but I was put forward three days at my scan so now 13 weeks today :)

How long was the crl at your 12-week scan? I was told since it's IVF and dates are known they're going to stick to the IVF due date.

@Summerishere83 I will check when I go downstairs :) I find the date change odd too as my dates (despite not being IVF as this one was conceived in between cycles) are correct with a variance of maybe a day as I was temping and using OPKs to monitor ovulation.
