Anyone here in a similar position? I'm feeling a bit of an odd one out on forums now where I don't feel pregnant pregnant and I don't feel infertile infertile, and thought I'd see if others were in the same, tentative situation. I don't feel like I'm ready to join the main May 2024 gang until I'm more confident this will continue.

I'm only 4 weeks 5 days :/

@Summerishere83 When did you announce to them you were pregnant? I'm wondering how delayed it is round here, probably a lot, our local services are very stretched. You're high risk because of age like me, I assume? Hmmm that's a shame they can't fit a high risk patient in.

I had a diabetes scare before this FET, so I'm also worried by it and trying to be aware of/track how many carbs I eat on myfitnesspal, both my sisters are diabetic.

We did ICSI rather than IVF, we have swimmer trouble, not sure how that impacts sex but I think I read AAs are more likely boys. Just googled and found this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2767484/ - nothing conclusive but they seem to think IVF favours boys and ICSI girls here. You could have one of each, right? I can't remember how much you can see at this stage on your scan.

Good to know your symptoms are all over the place as well!

Hi @thislittlebird I self-referred at 5 weeks I think. Yes, my risks are age (40), previous miscarriages (2) and a twin pregnancy (can't help but smile every time I say this :)

Yeah diabetes is a serious concern, I'll try to call them again and make sure they know my risk factors. Any particular diet you're following or just watching the carbs? Sorry to hear about your sisters.

ICSI is definitely a different matter, we did IVF. We transferred 5bb and 3bb and I read somewhere that the 5 might be a boy (70% chance) and the 3 might be a girl (60% chance). Then the doctor at the IVF clinic said the heartbeats sound differently and might be different gender but again, just speculation. I guess we won't know until the harmony test if we do it privately (I think it can differentiate between two different Y chromosomes), the NHS harmony test doesn't look at gender.

We'll see, fingers crossed we're all healthy and well. Today might be a symptom free day for me it seems 😅

thislittlebird · 02/10/2023 11:07

@Summerishere83 ah yeah, of course. Totally forgot twins would be high risk too.

No particular diet, monitoring sugar and carbs really. I'd already made lots of changes pre-FET, although a few have slipped now. Age + IVF resulted in me gaining weight and then I lost a stone or more between February and July. I did the FET when I was back into a healthy weight range, I'm short so it doesn't take much :/. I'd started getting tingling feet and toes around my 40th birthday after an indulgent holiday and my sugar was high when tested a few weeks later, but not quite into pre-diabetic.

It's fascinating really, those BBs could be two girls. One of each would be ideal, no chance of that for us lol. I think we'll likely do the private Harmony, will decide nearer the time. When does the NHS test do Harmony/equivalent?

I've had some cramps since my low symptom couple of days, and my pregnancy induced asthma seems to be worse again. My asthma is usually well controlled and I barely notice it, but it's been a lot worse since this has worked. Will definitely mention my heart and lung issues to a doctor if Thursday goes well!

Had my 12 week scan and all is fine, I’m so happy, I cried throughout the whole thing! Even saw the baby sucking its thumb. It’s miraculous! 🥰

thislittlebird · 02/10/2023 12:50

@Misty84 I thought it was Tuesday! Congrats, really glad you got there and got to see it!

@Misty84 oh wow! That’s amazing ❤️ So happy for you x

Summerishere83 · 02/10/2023 12:58

Amazing news @Misty84 congratulations, enjoy:)))

Summerishere83 · 02/10/2023 13:03

@thislittlebird well done for all the positive changes you made and it's good you are aware of the signs and keep an eye on your sugar levels, diabetes is a sneaky condition.

I think they do NHS harmony at the 12 week scan based on the results or just because you're 40+. I can't say from experience and every NHS trust practice is different I'm sure.

Hope your asthma doesn't exacerbate but definitely worth discussing every worry on your mind with the doctor.

Good luck 🙂

thislittlebird · 02/10/2023 16:07

@Summerishere83 yeah it is, I didn’t even realise both my (decade older) sisters had it until my mum mentioned it in passing. Didn’t think it was in our family, but it is.

Yeah probably, I should look up my CCG I suppose. Maybe after Thursday 😅

Thank you so much everyone for the lovely messages!

Hope everyone is feeling ok today!

CazzyM1983 · 03/10/2023 08:06

@Misty84 ahh i welled up there seeing your message about your scan and seeing baby sucking their thumb. How magical!
Really pleased for you!
I’ve got my 12 week scan next week. Hoping I get that far to see something like you have!

Misty84 · 03/10/2023 08:16

Aww @CazzyM1983 I have everything crossed for you and I’m sure you will!!💕

thislittlebird · 03/10/2023 18:02

Hope everyone is well, not sure when all your scans are.

Mine got moved to today because I had a shoulder tip pain this morning which I reported to my clinic. They rang and said can I come in today instead, so I did, and the good news is all is well.

After 4 years, 3 ERs, 7 embryos and 6 transfers, we finally have the embryo in the right place and so far it’s ok. Long way to go yet, of course!

@CazzyM1983 12 week one must be exciting, looking forward to the update!

That's really, really wonderful news @thislittlebird ❤️

Misty84 · 03/10/2023 18:27

Congratulations @thislittlebird! Bet you were nervous as hell after that shoulder pain!

thislittlebird · 03/10/2023 18:31

Thanks all!

@Misty84 I freaked out tbh and was relieved they invited me to come earlier. It was very weird, the same pain I get a few days after egg collections. So I wonder if it’s hormones triggering it? Dunno. Anyway, she was really nice and scanned me and said all looked ok. Was measuring 6 weeks and I’m 6w2d but she said it doesn’t really matter at this stage. Booked me for another scan at 9w4d.

@thislittlebird Thats good, what a relief! Was it too early to see the heartbeat today?

thislittlebird · 03/10/2023 19:15

@Misty84 no, it was there! 120bpm! Crazy.

@thislittlebird ah wow. Amazing news ❤️

ASGIRC · 03/10/2023 21:36

@thislittlebird amazing news!!! I was thinking about you and your scan on Thursday! Im glad it was today and everything was fine!
Definitely not an issue it was measuring a couple of days behind!
Mine was as well, at 6+6, measuring only 6+4, but the doc said that since it is milimiters, even the angle can affect the measurement!

Is the next scan at the clinic as well?

Jpos · 03/10/2023 22:55

Aww @thislittlebird fantastic news! Still two weeks to wait for my first scan can't come soon enough! 🤞

CazzyM1983 · 04/10/2023 05:35

@thislittlebird ahhhh that’s amazing news!! Really pleased all is ok x
