33 weeks, got up had a sudden feeling of wet, checked and it was watery, clearish slight white tinge dischage, thought nothing off it. Went back bed for a bit, had sex with partner, only gentle, got up sorted my self out if you know what i mean. I got up made myself a cuppa suddenly ive got the same water discharge running down my legs. Not a gush just 3 or 4 drops running down both legs and had to wipe 3 times, then 10 mins layer it happend again but no where near as much. Also no pain or discomfort.

Mid wife isnt in today so i will ring MAU later.

Could it be because we had sex, has anybody had similar?

You need to call the emergency line. At 33 weeks if your waters have gone it's an emergency. Don't wait for your midwife.

MyBedIsMySpiritualHome · 20/09/2023 07:40

ypu need to get it checked out. Could be PROM, which can lead to infection, I think.

Yes, call midwives

LolaCrapola · 20/09/2023 07:41

Maybe your waters have broken … same happened to me at 35 weeks… think you should phone midwifery service - at least they can check things out… don’t panic

PurpleRadish · 20/09/2023 07:41

Call the hospital..is it your first?

Prettypaisleyslippers · 20/09/2023 07:41

I suspect your waters have burst, may not be be total but partial. Call maternity unit. Does the fluid have a smell?

RoseRows · 20/09/2023 07:41

You need to call triage right away, don’t wait.

Monkeyfloor · 20/09/2023 07:42

do you have an sanitary pads or anything similar? Put those in your knickers so you can collect the fluid. The midwife might want to see it. And ring the all hours line for your maternity units.

This, don’t take any chances when it comes to an infection risk.

Mummy08m · 20/09/2023 07:42

Yes, call them! And tell them that you had sex afterwards too, as that may increase the infection risk as the barrier to the baby has gone. Sorry to worry you and hopefully I'm wrong. But please tell them.

GreyFeather · 20/09/2023 12:52

Definitely call. Mine went at 34+6, DD born 35+2. If waters have gone, you may need antibiotics and steroid injections for baby's lungs. Statistically, babies are likely to be born within three days of membrane rupture, so please do call straightaway.

bemorebernard · 20/09/2023 12:55

You're waders have broken - don't leave it . They don't always go with a gush.

Need's checking out

uncomfortablydumb53 · 20/09/2023 12:59

This happened to me and I told myself it was just bath water! It wasn't
It could be just part of the waters
Go in and be check as soon as you can
They can swab you to check

minipie · 20/09/2023 13:02

As pp said you need to be seen. Catch some of the fluid if you can in a clean sanitary pad or cloth or whatever you have. Keep a note of what time you had the first little leak (if it was a leak) as they will time things from there, the risk of infection increases with time from the leak. You may need antibiotics, and they may want to give steroids if baby looks imminent. Good luck.

(This is how DD1 arrived at 34+0 - small trickle, followed by big pop and waters gushing, followed by baby)

fearfuloffluff · 20/09/2023 13:03

Better safe than sorry.

Waters don't always 'pop' - if you think about it, the uterus is a big bag of fluid, the membrane holding the fluid can have a little hole away from your cervix and this means only a little leaks out.

minipie · 20/09/2023 13:03

Also - take your notes and a hospital bag! unlike me 🤦‍♀️

herringboneparquet · 20/09/2023 13:05

Sounds like your waters - happened to me at 35 weeks. Hope you've got in touch with hospital.

Icannoteven · 20/09/2023 13:06

Could be that your back waters have gone. You definitely need to go to hospital to be checked.
Did you smell the fluid (amniotic fluid smells like semen ime).

areyouhavinglaugh · 20/09/2023 13:06

My waters broke in a similar way, it's called your fore water, baby's head is plugging it.

I have birth 24hrs later. I was 36wks

Justgonefishing · 20/09/2023 13:14

I’m hoping you are now in the MAU !!…you can have a slow leak of amniotic fluid, sometimes throughout the 3rd trimester, I had loss of fluid in this way and so had to be induced early. As the person before said ,wear a sanitary towel to show the midwife and keep an eye on baby’s movements .

Ladyoftheknight · 20/09/2023 13:21

You definitely need to be seen as you're at high risk of infection even if this isn't 'go time'.

If anyone is reading this thread in future, if you have an unexplained fluid leak during pregnancy, get checked out and don't have sex until after you've received medical clearance for it. Having sex after waters break is not a good idea

Bells3032 · 20/09/2023 13:47

Call triage and dont panic. It sounds like the waters have broken. Doesn't always mean you'll give birth now esp if not contracting. But needs monitoring and get you on antibiotics to prevent infection

hellohelp · 20/09/2023 14:26

That sounds like how my labour started 😊 I shouted to do I was 'leaking' and he started questioning what I meant. I didn't know myself
It hit me by surprise as I was only 34+1. I called the hosp and they had me come in that night. Stayed for 12hr, went home for 12hr and they had me come back in again. I had baby at 34+3. My waters leaked the entire time until baby came

coloursquare · 20/09/2023 14:37

My back waters broke and I had to go onto an antibiotic drip during ensuing labour due to risk of infection. Personally I would go to the labour ward.

EarringsandLipstick · 20/09/2023 14:41

Exactly this - baffled that OP chose to do this!

To add to other posts, it may very well be your waters but it doesn't always indicate labour or the need to induce - it entirely depends on how much fluid is still around baby.

Regardless monitoring & checking for infection are vital so hopefully OP is currently being fully checked out right now.
