42 & pregnant

Hi, I'm 42 just found out Im pregnant, 8 days before my period is due. I've become addicted to testing, more then 3 times a day as I'm still in disbelief. I have had 5 previous pregnancy which I believe to be chemical as they all ended at the 5 week mark, all starting off with faded positive hpt lines.

This time I've been testing every day as I'm hoping my hcg will rise so I can feel abit of hope. Right now I'm 3 days away from my period and I'm still getting positive tests, so I'm holding onto abit of hope. I was wondering if there's any success stories that can be shared so I have even more hope. TIA.

@Stokey33 thanks for the support it means alot, I'm ment to be 6 weeks today. Last lmp was 5/6 of August. It was only just a sac, but it was only measuring 4-5 weeks.

This was my report

My bloods was taken in less then 48 hours, aswell. I had them taken, Thursday after 3pm, and again Saturday morning, I read it can take 48- 72 hours to rise

Yes my bloods didn’t double for 60 hours. And also when you are older app they don’t double usually at 48 hours. Will they rescan you? I would be definitely requesting they do because it’s so early you really don’t know. I had a yolk sac is less than 24 hours from just having a sac. Can you pay to do one privately?

@Stokey33 yes there planning on scanning me again, just don't no when, I think there waiting on my next blood test to decide. What your telling me really does give me some hope. Thank you 😊

Just another update, had my 3rd hcg bloods done, they are still rising very slow, there 5500 atm, lady on the phone says its not going to be a happy ending. There bringing me in tomorrow for another scan to see what's going on in there. I'm just baffled atm as I feel absolutely fine, if anything I feel like I did in my previous pregnancys. But only time will tell I guess.

Ultimately your hcg is still rising so at this stage you have to remain positive.

Hi, update. my situation ain't really changed. The sac is still empty, it's grown since last time, it now measures 5 weeks and 4 days. Hcg is going up very slowly. Could possibly be a blighted ovum. It's just a case in more scans and more bloods. I guess if nothing shows in the next week after the next scan then it's all over for me. I'll just sit and wait untill my body realises its non viable, then my hcg will drop naturally. I had a 2 hour wait for the doctor so I just left, and asked a nurse to call regarding next appointments. I'm just fed up now with the same outcome.

No, nothing inside, even the nurse was baffled, with everything that's going on. She said the next move is down to the doctors. Which I wasn't hanging around for. I'd rather things happen naturally. I said if I'm still pregnant at 12 weeks, I'll come back. I'm just so fed up now... It's been the longest few weeks of my life. To say I found out I was pregnant 9 days before my period was due, it seems like I have been pregnant for years. Its been a experience and a half.

I've been in similar position - sac was empty - measuring around 4 weeks when I should have been 8 but I started bleeding this week. I knew things weren't right. I keep getting really sad but then i know im lucky with two lovely boys. I hope you are getting the support you need.

Hi, I wana end this thread properly, i don't wana just run and hide. I wana say Thank you to each and every person that has supported me and gave me advice along this journey, bless you all. My pregnancy is sadly going to come to an end. I had my phone call this morning and the consultant doctor has read my notes and decided that best course of action in my case, is to end this pregnancy as nothing is developing in the sac and my HCG results are static. I just want this to end now, so I can carry on with my life, these past few weeks have tormented me emotionally & physically and I've put my life on hold why not knowing what's happening.

Hi Stacey. So sorry for you. It’s truly devastating! Also just an update on me ( I think it’s important to update for other readers ) I did a clear blue weeks today as my boobs were definitely less sore. Anyway had a scan and sadly the gestational sac didn’t grow but the yolk sac did. I’m booked in for Monday to have a D&C. Love to everyone. You never know it might just happen xx

😔 I'm so sorry to hear that @Stokey33 . Did they say what causes that to happen? I've never heard of that happening before. If only I could give you my empty sac 😊 pregnancy can be so stressful. I remember when I was younger, I never even dreamed that all these things can happen. A pregnancy test automatically ment a baby, didn't have to Think about hcg's empty sacs, now with age its more difficult 😔 Please stay in touch, I'm gana keep this post open, for any future updates, if you ever need to talk or advice, I'm hear 😊

My heart goes out to you. The same happened to me last year, prior to that I'd never heard of anything like this before.
In my case whilst I was waiting for the doctors and EPU to see me for the 3rd time I began bleeding. I hope for you your body does the same and saves you any more heartache.
