Hi all. I am being induced tomorrow morning due to being a week late. This is my first baby.

I was just curious, to all the Mums out there who have been induced, how long did it take you from being induced to delivering?

OP posts:

Went in the evening, had 2 pessaries 24 hours apart with little progress so then the following day waters were broken, I went on the drip at 12pm, baby born 2 AM.

So 3-4 days.

Oh, and baby was born with no assistance required.

I tried the drip without an epidural and it was a big fat no from me!

38 weeks..Induction started 9am Tuesday and 9lb boy born 2pm Saturday.

No gels or pessaries. Waters broke at midnight, drip started at 1am, baby arrived at 7.46 wasn't fully dialated till 5.30

I was induced with the drip starting around midday on Sunday, baby born at 1.11am on Monday morning so around 12 hours. However it was very slow progress from 0-4cm dilated then just under 4 hours in active labour

3ish hours

SJG1987 · 27/08/2023 21:22

6 hours from the moment they broke my waters.

I was induced at 41 weeks and from pessary being inserted to baby being born was about 39 hours. Ended up with failed forceps and cat 1 emergency c section. Wishing you the best for your induction and safe delivery of your baby 🥰

5 days and 4 attempts at induction

Creepyrosemary · 29/08/2023 01:46

Almost 4 days, ended up with EMCS because heart rate dropped.

WandaWonder · 29/08/2023 01:47

about 12 hours

RugbyGirl1 · 29/08/2023 09:49

My waters broke first but no natural progress so had the gel 24 hours later at 1am and baby in arms by around 11am the same day... Ended up in theatre with forceps delivery due to her heart rate going a bit crazy. It was all very quick in the end! Good luck with your induction OP 🥰

I was induced at 40+5 as my DD was trying to make me implode (high blood pressure).

Saw midwife in the morning, who shipped me off to the hospital. In the afternoon was shown to a room and then had the balloon inserted in the evening (Friday). Had that taken out after 24 hours which did nothing, then a few hours later had waters broken by consultant and then started on the drip (Sun morning- around 1am).

Drip fun throughout Sunday, had an epidural around 6pm (amazing), then ended up in theatre as DD was stuck (mild shoulder dystocia) and resulted in a forceps delivery around 10pm.

So all in all, about two days of you count the actual induction process. I do wish I pushed back on the balloon though as it did nothing and I am not entirely certain how clean it really is (you have plastic tubing hanging out downstairs which I can't imagine is left sanitary when you still need to use the toilet!).

2 hours from manual breaking of waters to baby out. I was 42 and a bit weeks. 2nd baby.

HouseofGods · 29/08/2023 11:13

About 3.5 hours from drip starting to DS being delivered, very quick after waters were broken manually - 5 weeks early, first baby.

HouseofGods · 29/08/2023 11:16

Should have said that there was nothing else before the drip. I was just started on that as I had PE and they needed me to deliver quickly.

Persipan · 29/08/2023 11:19

About 18.5 hours from pessary to baby, at 39 weeks.
