I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

Planned c-section for me too, suspected adhesions this time plus other complications saw my consultant strongly recommend it; which I was more than happy to go along with.
Now, if they’d give me a hysterectomy at the same time I’d be laughing, but they won’t!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 27/09/2023 19:23

@Spareincoming providing there are no complications during my c section I will be having my tubes tied, which is something you can ask for if it’s contraception you’re thinking of.

Spareincoming · 27/09/2023 19:32

@BabyBabyBaby123 Not for contraception no, I have horrendous periods - think days of flooding and I often end up off work so a sterilisation wouldn’t help unfortunately. I had the coil fitted for a second time last section and it came away, for the second time, about a week later.
I’ve got to wait for 6 months post section then I can ask for a uterine ablation, but availability of the procedure has been reduced since covid in my area; I can’t win!

Im thinking of asking for this but I’m not sure they’ll agree due to my age.
Ive also heard there’s a risk of ectopic pregnancy with tied tubes?

BabyBabyBaby123 · 27/09/2023 22:21

@Spareincoming bloody covid 🙄 get your name on the list asap and hopefully they’ll get you in as close to 6 months as they can 🤞🏻

@GreenAventurinee they were very quick to agree to my request with me being in my 30s and on my 3rd section. She did mention an increased risk of ectopic and I think I remember her saying the failure rate is 1 in 200, but I’m willing to take the chance. Due to family history I’m not suitable for hormonal contraception and I tried a copper coil and ended up severely anaemic so it’s the best option for me. We did weigh up the pros and cons of a vasectomy for DH, but the wait is over 12 months and I feel like if they can kill 2 birds with 1 stone I might as well get sterilised during the c section.

WriMum22 · 28/09/2023 05:48

@BabyBabyBaby123 12 month wait, oh my gosh that’s ridiculous! This is baby number 3 for us so my husband has made the decision to go for a vasectomy. He spoke with the doctor in August believing that the waiting list would be a few months so wanted to get on there and he was called a couple of weeks later with an appointment for early October, so five weeks from referral. He declined as we would like to wait till baby is here and I’ve recovered, so they are calling him in January with a date for then. It’s crazy how things fluctuate depending on the area you’re in.

Shaker21 · 28/09/2023 08:05

I had my 31 week midwife appointment yesterday, everything was all good and when checking babys position she said he was fully engaged. She said that once fully engaged they are unlikely to move out of there now but is also not an indication of how long till labour starts or anything, it could still go to due date or late. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience of being engaged this early and the outcome of any previous births or this pregnancy if anyone has been told they was fully engaged early on?

@Shaker21 I had my 32 week scan on Tuesday and was also told baby was engaged and cephalic (head down).
I think it's quite common from 30 weeks onwards for babies to move into this position.

Katiec1 · 28/09/2023 09:02

@Shaker21 i remember on my eldest she was fully engaged at before 36 weeks…we went 10 over with her 🙈

Shaker21 · 28/09/2023 09:04

Thanks girls, looks like just longer with having pressure and pelvis pain for me then lol!

TMI2000 · 28/09/2023 09:05

@Shaker21 Oh I totally feel you. Some days it genuinely feels like I'm about to go into labour because of all the pressure and discomfort and don't even get me started on getting out of bed after being laid down for a while! Ouch! 😂

Shaker21 · 28/09/2023 09:42

@TMI2000 Tell me about it!! Haha!! It is so sore and uncomfortable.

Just had a growth scan, baby girl is 4lb 4 at 32 +5. That seems huge as she was only 3lb 1oz 2 weeks and 2 days ago.
Is this about average? X

WriMum22 · 28/09/2023 09:50

@Shaker21 My son was fully engaged quite early on and I had him at 42 weeks. This one was engaged yesterday too and my husband got excited but had to remind him of my first born 😂

WriMum22 · 28/09/2023 09:52

@GreenAventurinee I think that’s about average from what I’ve been seeing in other groups I’m in. What percentile is she?

Im 32 weeks and my little one is 3lb 9oz and measuring on the 10th centile, they’ve said 10th centile or below is small for gestational age. I’ve got to go back in three weeks for another scan and if she drops we could be having a Halloween baby.

She was on the 10th centile two weeks ago. I don’t think she is anymore haha

GreenAventurinee · 28/09/2023 10:29

Saw midwife after scan and she said she’s on the lower end of a normal growth but still perfect so I’m very pleased with that.
Its so stressful thought isn’t it.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 28/09/2023 10:41

Take fundal height with a pinch of salt, last appointment I was on the 3rd centile, growth scan measured me just below 50th centile. 3 weeks later fundal height is now off the chart - but big! Over 97th centile. Guess who is waiting for yet another growth scan!

PinkPlantCase · 28/09/2023 10:51

You can decline growth scans if you want to.

I had 2 fundal height measurements where 1 was just over the 50th percentile and the next measurement was just under the 50th line. Both measurements were a few mm off the 50th line though they only measure FH to the nearest cm.

They wanted to send me for growth scans to check if baby was below the 10th percentile because they had technical crossed a percentile line 🤣 it was all a bit silly. I didn’t need to see a doctor to talk about it and I didn’t need to have extra scans, so I declined.

I feel like baby has had a growth spurt this week so I think it’ll be hilarious if the next fundal height measurement has shot up and then they’ll be worried if baby is too big.

I just want to be left to get on with it tbh.

TMI2000 · 28/09/2023 11:23

Find myself worrying so much more about movements now he has less space so the movements are so much gentler.
Then, for the past couple of minutes I've been feeling a steady tapping feeling around my pelvis and was worried he was moving too much🙄 but i've just thought, could this be hiccups? I've not felt them yet so not sure what they feel like 😂

Thack · 28/09/2023 12:21

@TMI2000 I describe hiccups as being regular/rhythmic. There's a steady beat, not like the random clusters of kicks and squirms.

Growth scans aren't fully accurate. My one this week they struggled to get a reading for baby's position, which won't change much now.
I'm set for weekly scans. Very likely we'll be inducing early as the growth is not following a line but I'm happy enough that all looks healthy otherwise.

JD90 · 28/09/2023 12:54

Two bags I ordered as hospital bags for myself and bub arrived today, I feel like I've done something at least somewhat productive 🤣 I was shocked actually, ordered them late last Friday night off the tikkytokky for a whopping £3.72 for the both of them including postage and they arrived today!

The bags look good. I have to start thinking about mine now at 31 weeks. I felt like I had plenty of time up until this week. Now I realise I need a crib, nappies and supplies for the bag etc etc. There seems to be a lot to do!

JD90 · 28/09/2023 13:23

@Nov2023 I was thinking exactly the same way until I saw my consultant this week and realised I might not have much time at all 😬 hopefully I'll get more of an idea from consultant next week when I have my next appointment and can figure out what sort of stuff I need, especially if bub is going to be making a super early appearance!

Shaker21 · 28/09/2023 13:26

@TMI2000 Yeah I feel mine very low down in my bump because of him being head in pelvis and also steady tapping feeling every now and then I have put down to hiccups, they are very similar spaced apart
