I couldn't find a new thread open as the old is now full.

Got a few of the usernames to tag, definitely missed people but hopefully they find the thread :)

@TMI2000 do you have gestational diabetes or is that why their testing.
it’s good their monitoring, and remember, growth scans are not always accurate.

TMI2000 · 26/09/2023 13:02

@GreenAventurinee No I don't as far as I know, I had a GTT 5 weeks ago and I came back normal, I'm doing a repeat on Friday to see if anything has developed since then. I'm glad for all of the extra monitoring and like you say, I just hope it's not accurate as he is already showing at nearly 5 pounds at just 32 weeks 😅this is my first so terrified to push out a big baby 😂

Thack · 26/09/2023 14:04

@JD90 I'm probably there with you. Under 0.3% on scan today, another scan and meet with consultant next week. My DC1 was early so I'm likely to be October anyway!

@PinkPlantCase I was the same with breastfeeding. I struggled to keep weight on, I am petite anyway but was a bit too thin for my liking.

Our little one is measuring on the 10th centile, and we have another growth scan on Thursday. Be interesting to see if she has jumped.
My first was apparently 4lb though, and was born the next day at 5lb 15oz so ….think they can be way out 🤣

Mrsrobinsonx · 26/09/2023 18:21

I wouldn’t worry too much about estimated weights, when I saw a specialist consultant at addenbrookes fetal medicine with my sister in law he said ‘imagine if I took the length of your femur, head and stomach and then tried to guess your weight from that’ 😂 so maybe not accurate in all cases lol x

Crazybrowncow · 27/09/2023 02:26

Urgh awake with heartburn...again!

Nice to hear everyone's updates , I have my consultant appt to make a plan for my section. Can't believe it is coming round so fast!

Those with two already, do you have any advice on transitioning from 1 to 2? I've been having a wobble the last couple of days thinking it just be impossible! (I know it's a bit late now!) x

Psqueak87 · 27/09/2023 03:29

Saw baby girl for the first time in 10 weeks today with an ultrasound! So cute yawning away. They guesstimated 5lb 4oz at 34+4.

Thack · 27/09/2023 04:02

@Crazybrowncow hooray for insomnia and going from 1 to 2 too!

I've got a gift ready from baby to DC1. I've also been advised to not be holding baby when they first meet. Mum is still a separate person and baby is not keeping them from me!

How has your biggie been about it?
We've had a few shouts of "that's mine!" as I've gathered baby toys from around the house etc.
I've got new blankets so that as little as possible is 'taken' to begin with.

Crazybrowncow · 27/09/2023 07:22

@Thack exactly the same with the toys! They're all suddenly his favourite! Generally he's been good, seems to understand and is excited/ frustrated that the baby is there yet!

Thank you for the present idea, gave me something to do in the early hours this morning!

Katiec1 · 27/09/2023 08:40

@Crazybrowncow we went from 1 to 3 (singleton and twins within 17 months). Our eldest was fine when the twins came home, tbh I think she was a little too young for the whole “jealousy” side of things because they were so close in age and she adapted with no issues at all.
As mentioned above a little gift from baby to child and also for yourself not to be holding baby when they first meet, keep open arms for your child.
Best advice I could give is to find a routine that works for all of you and stick with it 😊

Spareincoming · 27/09/2023 09:21

@Crazybrowncow definitely have a little gift from Baby to sibling, and vice-versa, if sibling can choose a gift for baby. The eldest DC came shopping for new bits for baby and had some say over clothing etc, which gave them a bit of ownership of their sibling if that makes sense - it wasn’t all mummy and daddy making the decisions!

With all the DC I have agreed that some toys are theirs and not to be shared, and we’ve stuck by that. It’s been things like the dolls
house they got for Christmas so that was moved to their room/space or the Thomas railway set. But it’s only ever been one or two specific things, no hoarding all the toys!

I’ve always had and enforced the idea that communal space toys are for anyone to play with, just like at nursery or school.

2nd, 3rd and 4th DC have to fit into to the household routine and I actually found that easier than 0 to 1!

For those that had a previous csec...any more thoughts whether you are trying for a vbac or going for another section?

Have a consultant appointment next week and I still can't decide

I had a section 5 years ago a emergency one , but I've been advised to have a natural due to uterine rupture, but I had a placenta rupture in my last pregnancy . But I'm fighting to be Induced or section I've got consultant on Monday and growth scan too xx

foodislife1 · 27/09/2023 13:10

@LeeanneD11 mine was 3 years ago and they've also said if I do go ahead with vbac they wouldn't induce due to risk of rupture

I wanted to be induced. I would love a planned c section but I think it's the stay for me cause I have 2 older kids who get upsets about me leaving my big boy is very sensitive and his only 6 , so I'm in 2 minds xx

WriMum22 · 27/09/2023 13:37

Hi all, hope you’re all doing well. Had a growth scan today and baby is on the 10th centile, measuring around 3lb 9oz at 32 weeks + 1. Consultant said she’s on the smaller end of normal, so isn’t concerned but back in for another growth scan in three weeks. I’m really surprised as felt like she was going to be a lot bigger than my son, who was 6lb 10oz when born at 38 weeks, but she’s currently projected to be smaller, I know I’m definitely carrying bigger this time. I do always take these scans with a pinch of salt though because my son was supposedly around 7lb at his 36 week growth scan and was born lighter than that two weeks later! She’s got the plumpest little lips though and a cute little button nose from what we could see, just can’t wait to meet her!!

PinkPlantCase · 27/09/2023 13:43

@LeeanneD11 induction increases the chance of uterine rupture if they have to use the drip so it isn’t recommended for a VBAC.

They might be able to do a pessary an break your waters and see what happens but I expect that’s more likely to lead to a c-section than if you went into Labour spontaneously as they wouldn’t be able to do anything else if breaking your waters don’t kick start things.

Ah thank you for that , that's so helpful to know I'll speak to consultant on Monday about my options xx

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 27/09/2023 13:57

I'm still trying to decide between elective C-section and vaginal birth. Uncomplicated vaginal would obviously be better than surgery any day, but I've seen so many people go through horrors with assisted deliveries etc! Guess it's fear of the unknown. I know vaginal would be better if I decided to try put myself through the torture that is pregnancy again 😂 - as in gives more options birthwise and doesn't carry the same rupture risk etc.

Kind of late to the decision party as it had been assumed I'd need an early c-section medically up until a couple weeks ago so hadn't really given much thought or prep for vaginal delivery. I'll see consultant next week who was amazing and just said she would support whatever what I want but I still know 🙈.

JD90 · 27/09/2023 14:54

@FlyingHighFlyingLow I had given my actual birth zero thought until a few days ago! I've just been so sure that my consultant would just make the decision at one of my appointments along the way. Not the best approach I am aware but I feel like something has just twigged and now I need to think about it. I was drip induced and had an unassisted vaginal birth first time around. I really need to get my head out of my bum and think about what I want if by some chance I get a choice 🤣

Katiec1 · 27/09/2023 15:52

@foodislife1 hi I had a section 7 years ago on my twins and I’ve been given the go ahead for a VBAC this time around. Consultant seemed quite happy and positive for me to go forward with it but did explain that it might not go according to plan, which I get 100%.
They obviously won’t induce me and will only let me go 7 days past due date (if labour not before then it’ll be a section)
When in labour I’ll be under constant monitoring for uterine rupture and I’ve also been advised against certain pain relief as they could slow down labour. They have said they’ll allow me a certain timeframe of active pushing before I get brought forward for a section.
I’ve also had a previous vaginal before and recovery for me was much quicker than my section, so I’m happy to take that chance this time.

GreenAventurinee · 27/09/2023 16:22

I had an elective 15 years ago, and I’m having an elective this time around too.

foodislife1 · 27/09/2023 16:54

@Katiec1 so my initial
Consultant said the same. I had my first csec due to breech position but she seemed happy for me to try vbac - with a low threshold and all the things that you just described. I'm just concerned that it doesn't go well and I wish I'd gone for an elective anyway!

Katiec1 · 27/09/2023 17:12

@foodislife1 yeah there is always that too. I do wonder am I making the right decision in going with VBAC. But I suppose no one knows what their birthing plan will go. Do you know position of baby at the moment?

foodislife1 · 27/09/2023 18:25

Up until now baby has been breech again but midwife last week said she's moved to head down...which opens up my Options
