Reduced movement 38+4 WWYD?

Can anyone advise?

First baby and it's been increasingly more quiet over the last few days.. I had a midwife appointment on Thursday who reassured me and everything was going good.. offered a sweep at 39 weeks and I decided to pursue this.

I had a bout of reduced movement at 36 weeks and they found out I was anemic which was probably the cause.

Today it's been major quiet.. I called EOU who advised to eat something with lots of carbs and lay down. It moved for about 15 mins and has gone quiet again.

Should I go in even tho I have felt movement?

Go in! Always go in, things can change very quickly. Always best to get checked if you feel something is not quite right.

Merrz · 05/08/2023 20:04

If you're in doubt at all there's no harm in getting checked. Trust your instincts

Happygerbil · 05/08/2023 20:04

Go in. Now

WooWooWinnie · 05/08/2023 20:04

Absolutely go in. That’s very outdated advice from your EOU.

Hopefulbride18 · 05/08/2023 20:05

Emphasise that you feel movement has been gradually tailing off... This doesn't sound right.

Apricotton · 05/08/2023 20:06

Definitely go in and get checked.

QuiltedHippo · 05/08/2023 20:08

Please go in, I'm not sure what the EOU is (Google suggests European ornithologist union) but that isn't great advice. And I'm not sure what checks your midwife did but normally at this stage your routine appointment don't include scans etc so they won't have a full picture.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 05/08/2023 20:08

I practically lived in triage for this very reason. That's what they're there for. Go in xx

DustyMaiden · 05/08/2023 20:09

Get checked, no harm done if it is unnecessary. Anything wrong your baby can be delivered.

ellesbellesxxx · 05/08/2023 20:09

It’s the pattern of movements that’s important.., this has changed so absolutely you must go.
kicks count is a really good resource to look at.
hope all is well x

kingdom123 · 05/08/2023 20:11

Go in right now.

BrutusMcDogface · 05/08/2023 20:11

100% go in and get checked. Tell the midwives you’ve had a change in pattern of movements.

Tryingtokeepcalmandcarryon · 05/08/2023 20:12

I’d go in, take your hospital bags in the car just in case

UnaVaca · 05/08/2023 20:14

Jesus, get off mumsnet and go in to be checked and speak up about your concerns.

KittensSchmittens · 05/08/2023 20:16

Oh no just go in love, the faff of going in outweighs the risk. It's too important. Go in now.

ALittleChilli · 05/08/2023 20:17

Definitely get it checked out - I had exactly the same yesterday (also 38+4!) and was told to go in for monitoring. Although all seemed fine with baby on the monitor (heartbeat and oxygen all looked good), his movements were still not what I felt were normal and the doctor advised that I consider an induction because the monitor can only catch what's going on at that particular time, and you're considered full term.

Bumblebee112 · 05/08/2023 20:18

Never doubt yourself. If it’s a change, you go in!

Bumble84 · 05/08/2023 20:19

Get checked out. They’d rather see 100 healthy babies than the ones that should have been checked out but weren’t.

dreamcatchmee · 05/08/2023 20:20

Definitely go in, don't wait, call now.

Shinytaps · 05/08/2023 20:21

Please go in. Trust your instincts.

RoseAndRose · 05/08/2023 20:22

At least ring

Or just go in

They'd rather do a hundred checks where everything's fine than miss the one where they need to induce

Greeneyedmonster · 05/08/2023 20:23

Defo go in.

Saywhanow · 05/08/2023 20:27

Go in.

Andywarholswig · 05/08/2023 20:28

Go in, don’t wait just go

snoopy18 · 05/08/2023 20:32

Triage was my second home during first pregnancy for this reason. Definately go in not worth the risk as anything can happen. Good luck
