As the question says really, currently pregnant and have our abroad wedding booked for when baby will 4 and a half months old, it was already booked before we we knew we're expecting, and it can't be cancelled or moved, just want some one to tell me that it's going to be okay and any advice welcome 😂
Hotel is all inclusive for 2 weeks and there are indoor baby areas as we had thought about family coming with children.

You’ll cope it will be fine, better than having a one year old running around and trying to escape!

enjoy!

Falifornia · 10/06/2023 15:02

Took DD to Spain when she was 5.5 months. Easiest holiday ever!!!!

Harriet669 · 10/06/2023 15:03

@Billyho that's what I am telling myself 😂🙈 a bit of pool time and lots of sleeping is what I'm hoping!

Be a breeze and that age!

DurhamDurham · 10/06/2023 15:09

We got married when our youngest was almost five months old, she was definitely easier than our three year old Grin

Our baby napped in the shade, loved going for walks, she was dressed in either a summer dress or just a vest and nappy. She slept well at night and as I was still breastfeeding it was easy. She did have drinks of water from a bottle and she tried her first taste of icecream (wouldn't have done that with my first but with subsequent children I got a bit more laid back about it all Grin)

Caspianberg · 10/06/2023 15:11

It will be fine. They can’t run away or crawl fast at that age, so generally stay where you put them.
They might not sleep great, but it would be the same at home anyway. Any all inclusive someone is cooking for you for 2 weeks which makes it easier

BHRK · 10/06/2023 15:12

It will be fine. Invest in a baby Bjorn or carrier for carrying them around. It’s easier than when they’re walking age

Harriet669 · 10/06/2023 15:16

@DurhamDurham awww that sounds really quite lovely! Thank you so much for sharing that! Makes me feel more at ease!

@Caspianberg oh yes! To be fair I'm sure having food cooked for 2 weeks will actually be really helpful, hadn't even thought of that!

@BHRK I will definitely look in to those thank you so much 🩷

Honestly so much easier than taking a toddler!

Whatsthescory · 10/06/2023 15:19

Easy. Once they start crawling things get tricky. Walking is a nightmare!

DurhamDurham · 10/06/2023 15:20

@Harriet669 I hope you have a great time, you'll be creating some fab memories.
Forgot to say that we were married in Cyprus, everyone seemed to love children and babies. On more than one occasion we had waiters and waitresses helping to entertain the children while we ate. It was very family friendly.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 10/06/2023 15:21

Just get on the passport application quickly as it may take time to get a slot and for the application to come back.

Went abroad when my DD was 10 weeks and the passport was the most stressful part.

dearJayne · 10/06/2023 15:22

It's so much easier when they're not mobile.

Taking a 2.5 year old is much trickier

surreyisik · 10/06/2023 15:38

We did 5 trips between months 4 and 8 when he was completely portable and glad we did because now that DS is a 15 month old toddler he won't sit still more than 15 seconds.
Just make a good checklist of items you will need for your sanity and bring extras, you will be fine.

MistyFrequencies · 10/06/2023 15:44

Easiest time to travel. Do long haul a lot with my kids unfortunately. Worst age in my experience is between 1 & 3 years old; old enough to leg it away from you, too young to keep entertained by screens.

Harriet669 · 10/06/2023 15:58

Honestly thank you all for taking the time to reply! Me and my fiancé both feel a thousand times better after reading these replies it's our first so a bit clueless 😂 but I'm sure it will all be fine and will have family with us but they all have kids 1.5 - 11 so they Weill be pretty busy too!

Totally recommend getting babyzen yo-yo for travel. Seemed expensive, but when it makes travel easy for 4 years it’s a bargain. Can be taken as hand luggage also above head, and car seat fits for small baby. Newborn nest not carrycot folds also

Falifornia · 10/06/2023 16:25

@DurhamDurham Spain was the same. Our plan was to get DD ready for bed, walk her up and down the prom in her pushchair and have a quiet dinner. The reality was a wide awake DD fluttering her eyelashes at every passing member of the waiting staff. They eventually got around to giving us some attention, instead of her 😂.

One thing before you start travelling @Harriet669 - if your DC gets attached to a particular teddy/toy/blanket BUY A SPARE (or two). And remember to rotate them so you don't end up with one grey, threadbare original and a fat, pink spare (which won't stand a chance of kidding a sobbing child). We learnt that lesson the hard way!

dazel · 10/06/2023 16:29

Took DC2 to Florida when she was 4m. Slept most of the flight except for feeds, had a lovely time at the parks, slept much of the time in a carrier.

Harriet669 · 10/06/2023 16:57

@Caspianberg lovely I have saved that! Looks so so good! Any tips greatly appreciated 🥰

@Falifornia that's such a great idea! We actually did that for our dog 😂 won't sleep with out her face toy 😂🙈

@dazel that's so good, thank you so much for sharing!

Honestly the smaller they are the easier it is. Yes you have to take more stuff (bottles, formula etc if formula fed) but they just lie there!

We tag teamed, each person has baby for 2 hours and it means you each get some chill/nap time.

AnnaBegins · 10/06/2023 17:18

Oh it'll be amazing, before weaning and walking is the perfect time to travel.
Get an ergonomic carrier (not a baby Bjorn) - you can even hire from your local sling library. That will make the airport so much easier.
