Im hoping someone can help me as I’m worried sick. I’m just over 16 weeks pregnant and have just been to the GP because I have noticed loads of tiny red pinprick dots over my body - my arms, legs and tummy. It looks like specs of bloods under the skin, but individual specs not so much a rash. I also have some cherry angiomas but these are slightly different to these as in they are tiny and flat. I thought she was going to say it’s just a pregnancy related thing, but she said she had never seen this before and wanted to check my bloods for liver and kidneys issues and infections. She also googled HELLP whilst I was in the room, so this has frightened the life out of me! I feel well in myself.

Does anyone have these red spots and know what they are ? I’ve attached a picture, but they are so small it’s so hard to get a good picture of them ! But they are like this but over my arms, legs and tummy and even a couple on my face. Thank you !

Good luck - it would be good to get to the bottom of it 🍀

Oh gosh, that's not very reassuring is it! Be interesting to see what they say BUT I'd have in your mind that you want to know what a consultant obstetrician thinks about it if it's going to be beyond your midwife- if your midwife thinks it's needed they can put you on to that pathway so hopefully you will hear back from her. I'd definitely update her and say you've been sent to the thing tomorrow, if she's been on leave over half term or whatever she might see that message and think WTF is the GP doing, as much as anything else!

I hope you're still feeling well in yourself, try not to let it worry you to much as we're all still here to tell our tales. At least you can have confidence in your GP going forward that they are very thorough 😂

Final update !! Hopefully this provides reassurance to anyone else ever searching for this also as I have been very thoroughly investigated !

So I went to the medical assessment unit this morning. Had bloods redone, crp has come down to 10 - so I must have had a slight infection without knowing. The red specs - a couple of doctors and nurses had no idea so they got some hospital photos sent over to dermatology who confirmed (like you all said) that these specs are pregnancy related and caused by the increase in estrogen. They can wax and wane and should disappear after pregnancy but definitely nothing to be concerned about, was just a coincidence that my crp was raised at the time of going to the doctors.

Such relief ! Thanks everyone for messaging it really did help my anxiety whilst going for these appointments xx

That is reassuring. I wonder about the pregnancy care I had sometimes but I can cross that one off 👍

Hope everything goes well.
