For me it's a juicy medium rare steak. Then sushi.
Citrus makes me sick but I'd love a huge glass of orange juice too.

Oh really? I could manage small amounts of brown rice/pasta/high protein bread, but any white carbs saw my blood sugar levels spike massively. It was good for controlling my weight though, I didn't put on any weight apart from the baby!

That has been a benefit. I had only gained a kilo at 33 weeks but I was already overweight and worried about how this pregnancy would affect me.
I didn't eat white carbs previously really but I bet they would spike my sugars massively too. For some reason though, white basmati rice doesn't affect me. So strange! It's definetly helped to set some good habits so hoping to keep them up after birth

You can have sushi if you're in the UK as the fish had to be frozen first which kills of bacteria. I didn't find out till half way through my last pregnancy! you can also eat rare steak as the risk of food poisoning is minimal.

I’ve got gestational diabetes so it’s quite a list 😂

Rare steak, blue cheese sauce, Chianti
bakewell flapjacks
lemon biscuits
limoncello cocktail, sangria and pimms (although not all at once)

Also been a bit of a challenge getting here. We bought a really expensive bottle of champagne in 2012, planning to drink it when we got married. Decided to start a family first, just didn’t expect it to take 8 years for the first baby, 11 years for the second and 4 miscarriages on the way. Feels champagne worthy now we’ve got here.

When I had my ds I rang my parents to tell them he had been born from the hospital and they asked what I would like for them to bring to the hospital when they visited about 3 hours after birth. I asked for Parma ham, I ate £12 worth of Parma ham right out of the packet.

For me a craved a few oysters with a glass of fizz on a sunny day. Breastfeeding so had to wait until the 8 week point for it but it was well worth the wait!!

A Mr whippy ice-cream, smoked salmon, a G&T, and coffee.
I know i can have coffee but it triggered sickness and I haven't had any for 7 months so waiting until bubs is here now.

apric0t · 14/05/2023 09:35

pie d'angloys, salami and endless cups of tea ❤️ can someone explain a bit more why you can actually eat cheese??

DrinkingAllTheGin · 14/05/2023 09:48

The only cheeses you can't have are mould ripened soft cheeses like brie and camembet unless they are cooked.
Stilton is ok.

bluechameleon · 14/05/2023 17:12

I also had gestational diabetes. A friend left a bag of pasta and a jar of pesto on my doorstep the day after I came home from hospital which was exactly what I needed! I'd also been pregnant over Christmas so I'd saved a biscuit selection box and a chocolate orange to have after he was born.

For me it's the other way round to most of you. I suffer from migraines and cutting out dairy really helps but in pregnancy I don't get migraines so I can have aaaaall the dairy. Natural greek yogurt, cream cheese and good old cheddar have been so nice to have back in my diet for the last few months. I'll miss them.

medicmumma · 14/05/2023 18:39

Cheese, salami and champagne - I've told my partner to get a charcuterie board ready for the postnatal ward lol

Mummy08m · 14/05/2023 19:54

I can't wait to enjoy food, any food, again. I feel like I've got that mythical curse where all food turns to (nauseating) ash in your mouth. I'm only 8w pg and last time this lasted till 20w so I've got a long way to go...

northernmam · 14/05/2023 21:07

A rare steak and camembert 🤤

Justanothercyster · 14/05/2023 21:31

Brie and cold meats 🥴

Thack · 14/05/2023 21:46

Medium rare steak and I now have a fancy for paté.

I can't wait to have a proper drink. Between BF and family complexities I haven't let my hair down since before I was pregnant with my 2yo. I know I have a looong time to go.

IlonaRN · 14/05/2023 21:52

I couldn't wait to eat pâté on toast! 😁

Pollywoddles · 14/05/2023 22:01

I bought €40 worth of raw milk cheeses and ate them all.

Summerbabythree · 14/05/2023 22:08

Everything!

Pregnancy has made everything a bit tasteless this time round, and sometimes also "surprises" my gut which literally doesn't know what to do. I'm either constipated, the opposite of that 😬

elm26 · 14/05/2023 22:11

@TakeMe2Insanity you can eat runny eggs if they have the lion symbol.

gogohmm · 14/05/2023 22:13

I ate sushi and rare steak, since when did they say you couldn't? Honestly I think they forget women have always given birth and around the world!

gogohmm · 14/05/2023 22:16

Oh and I ate blue cheese, Brie, cured meat, smoked salmon and a lot of the other things people are scaremongering about here. Look at the nhs list not the USA list who have different food standards

philautia · 14/05/2023 22:30

Just spicy food for me, I can't eat chillis as they give me terrible heartburn. I can't even use my hot sauce collection. Pre-pregnancy, I used chilli flakes / actual chillis and hot sauces for lunch and dinner.

Apart from that, I haven't cut anything out or changed my diet - I don't drink alcohol anyway and usually just have two cups of tea a day. I eat really healthily and have whatever I want (including brie).

TakeMe2Insanity · 15/05/2023 06:09

@elm26 I know! As I said I’ve gone off them. The sight of runny eggs makes me want to vomit :(

DesertSnow · 15/05/2023 08:42

Brie! Being pregnant in December aka wine and cheese month was a challenge. Also miss the odd glass of prosecco.

missrubi · 15/05/2023 10:46

Toast with mushroom pate! And Camembert cheese!
