I'm between 4-6 weeks pregnant and as soon as I found out I stopped vaping. I've gone 2 days without (found out 2 days ago) and I'm really struggling even though I've done so well. Is there anyone else going through the same or have any advice ?

Hiya, I was vaping until I got my positive. I stopped and was going to briefly pause while ordering zero nicotine liquid then continue but then went down a Google hole and kept off it due to lack of evidence or studies. Pregnant women that smoke and are struggling to stop are advised to vape instead as its 'less bad'. Maybe try and reduce the nicotine down to get to low or even zero nicotine eventually?

I hope this helps somewhat 😊

I had an appointment with the no smoking clinic , and she advised me vaping is fine in pregnancy . As I asked her as I used to vape before finding out and I still vape as it's the safest thing to do in pregnancy . I was on zero nicotine but didn't the find taste in them so I changed it. I wanted to stop but couldn't . X

I'm not going from cigarettes to vape, I've always just vaped. It is 20mg and I could easily do 0mg as it's not the nicotine that bothers me, it's just habit and I like the taste. Partner really doesn't want me to vape at all which is understandable but he vapes and obviously I'm watching him do it in front of me, can smell it etc and it's so hard to quit.

@duedec2023 I quit smoking 5 years ago and starting vaping I'm on 5mg at the moment myself , could you not just go back to vaping but use 0mg? It's hard when your partner sits there vaping and you can't . If your partner doesn't want you to vape could he not vape else where ? So makes it easier for you to be tempted

LeeanneD11 · 01/05/2023 16:16

According to lmp I'm 6+2 but CB digital is saying I'm 3-4 weeks, don't know which to believe. I did have brown spotting for 4 days 2-5th April so maybe that was instead of a period? I'm younger so this is a big shock to me and still learning so may seem like I'm asking stupid questions. Did you pay to have an early scan? Doctor told me you can't book an appointment to have a scan until 10 weeks?

No as I had 2 periods a month on nexplanon so was very irregular.

No I had nhs, did you miss your period in March? If so when was you supposed to come on? I conceived around end of feb

Also how long is your cycles ?

I requested it off the doctors. I would say your having cramps and bleeding that way you will be able to get a scan and know your dates here to help you with anything xx

I don't know how long my cycles are. They ranged from 12-28. Doctors even thought I had endometriosis so big shock when I found out I was pregnant. So when's the earliest I can get a scanv

@LeeanneD11 that is terrible advice to lie about bleeding and cramping to get a scan on the NHS.
Private scan clinics are available if you want a scan for reassurance.

LeeanneD11 · 01/05/2023 16:38

@BabyBabyBaby123 and what if they can't afford one?.

It just called helping as that's what this page is for.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 01/05/2023 16:41

Then they wait for their 12 week scan like everyone else. Your version of help is dishonest and a waste of NHS resources.

I also can’t imagine how guilty I’d feel if I lied about symptoms and then they actually happened to me, I would feel like I had tempted fate.

The OP never said they can’t afford one though?

And frankly, if a couple can afford to vape then they can afford to save for a private scan. I’m on a low income and I managed it.

@duedec2023 if you haven’t had a period for 6 weeks and you’d like a scan my advice is to book one for next week or even the week after. Because it you go too early you risk not being any the wiser with dates as it may be too small/early at that stage to tell.
If you start another thread asking when he best time to book an early scan is though then I imagine you’ll get more opinions so you can book it for the best time.
