TMI - image attached!!!

As it's Saturday I can't just ask my midwife's office. I have bright yellow discharge today, is this anything to be concerned about or a normal part of pregnancy?? I had a colposcopy yesterday if that would be of any relevance. I'm 33 weeks pregnant.

Does it smell bad? It could be a sign of an infection, although if there's a lot then it might be your waters leaking.

If nothing changes, and you have no further symptoms, call your hospital on Monday morning. If you have any cause for concern, such as reduced movements, call the hospital straight away and ask to be seen at once.

@KvotheTheBloodless thanks for your response! TMI but it doesn't smell bad, almost has a sweet scent to it (sorry 🫣). Still feeling plenty of movements though! X

100% go and get checked out asap. Waters can smell sweet and can look yellowy. It might be nothing but don’t leave it, obviously you’re early and once waters go the risk of infection increases. Better to get checked

ToBeOrNotToBee · 22/04/2023 17:44

That's your waters, speak to labour ward asap

Ihatewinding · 22/04/2023 18:14

I would get to your local maternity triage unit asap at 33 weeks and a pad that looks like that

bunnyrabbitsandbutterflies · 22/04/2023 18:15

It's your bladder leaking from the pressure of the baby. You don't even fee it. I had it throughout my second pregnancy.

trevthecat · 22/04/2023 18:19

Please get checked. Waters smell sweet. Good luck

Username1233 · 22/04/2023 18:20

I called the triage line and as baby is moving they think it's probably a result from the colposcopy yesterday and didn't seem too bothered as there's no pain with it.

I shall keep an eye out it, thanks ladies x

If it continues I’d ring them back. I’m really surprised they don’t want to see you. When your waters break baby continues to move normally and you don’t get pain unless labour has started. I had water go in first pregnancy and movements continued, no contractions or anything. Midwife almost didn’t believe me as they were just a slow trickle. I ended up getting a nasty infection. Personally I would be insisting to be checked out as you said it smelled sweet.

@PickledScrump I did feel that she dismissed me quite quickly. I'm going to keep a close eye and call back if needs be. The dismissivness is why I despise calling these places in the first place, makes me feel like a right pain! X

I'd call again - fingers crossed you get someone else so it'll be a second opinion. They may try and fob you off if busy - I'd pressure to go in for peace of mind if it were me

Username1233 · 22/04/2023 18:40

Is there a way I can keep an eye on if it is my waters? I'm assuming if I change my pad the yellow liquid should continue?

RumandSpinach · 22/04/2023 18:41

They can swab you to check if its waters with instant results. I'd just present to the labour ward on the off chance to be sure all is well.

Hannxo7 · 22/04/2023 18:42

I had this and it was my waters I was in preterm labour, they stopped it and then induced me at 38 weeks, change pad and see if it continues and good luck xx

Not necessarily. I just lost a tiny bit at 40 weeks and only went in as I thought it was bloody discharge

If they are ruptured there's a big risk of infection after 48hrs - just go x

Ihatewinding · 22/04/2023 18:45

You can change your pad then try lying down for at least 20-30 mins (or 45-60 if you feel like it's settled down/stopped), and I suspect when you stand up after this you'll get a little gush of waters soaking your pad and at that point just tell triage you're coming in

Ihatewinding · 22/04/2023 18:46

Or just go now but you can try the above if you're reluctant to

Pearlhavingherfifth · 22/04/2023 18:53

If smell sweet is it your waters.I had this and was yellow like yours.Go in,please.

Emmamoo89 · 22/04/2023 19:16

Please go in x

eyeblob · 22/04/2023 19:34

If you stand up do you get more of the liquid? If doesn't smell of wee it's not. I would go in and get checked said as a mum of an extreme prem due to prom. I was dismissed too as its probably nothing...

ToBeOrNotToBee · 23/04/2023 10:49

Hi OP.

How's it going??

If you still haven't been taken seriously over the phone, please pop over to labour triage in person.

Ttcmumma · 23/04/2023 10:58

Hey Hun,

I didn't have this exact experience but at 37 weeks 5 days I had a gush of liquid. I didn't actually feel it at all (I told the dog off for peeing on me!!) But then went on to realise i was far more wet than her and it didn't smell of wee at all. It smelt sweet but barely like anything. Then nothing else came out. I went to hospital, they swabbed me and continued to tell me I had wet myself. I demanded that I didn't, it happened in my sister's car and the car did not smell of pee... 24 hours later they tried sending me home. At that point I pretty much shouted at them to scan and check, they did and low and behold all of my waters had gone except one section trapped behind baby. I was induced a few hours later and baby arrived within 2 days. He's a healthy nearly 5 year old now but if I went home we would have both been at serious risk! You have to advocate for yourself and not always believe the doctors/midwives unfortunately

Throwncrumbs · 23/04/2023 11:00

Yeah , go to the hospital asap! Better safe than sorry!

SocialLite · 23/04/2023 11:01

I really think that's waters, especially sweet smelling. Hope you're both ok!
