Proper health anxiety going on!

I'm 7 weeks pregnant, unexpectedly, this will be my 5th child 🙈

My youngest is 12... so as you can imagine it's been a while.

I don't know when I'm going to get over the shock of this surprise.... it just doesn't seem real.

Can you hit me with your pregnancy stories.... really crave some reassurance.

I had a bleed a few weeks back x all looks ok in terms of HCG rising... will have a scan next week to check growth xx I'm praying this isn't a molar/phantom pregnancy.

Crazy how this has happened and I'm preparing to have a baby and not a big fat trip to Vegas with my friends xx

Hi @Popalina65 I'm 42 and due in 8 weeks. My pregnancy this time was like my last one, 8 years ago. Not too bad! I am getting tired and fed up now. Looking forward to meeting the baby!

I had my first & last at 42, midwife led, all fine. I’m a right mardy bum & I find it no mither at all!

Good luck!

StarDolphins · 08/04/2023 19:31

Actually just remembered- the only stressful but was that midwife rang & said I was high risk for various things(can’t remember what) so I paid for a blood test that showed all clear for everything! Everything else I found fine.

Bless you x can you remember what you paid for?

It was just under £500 but was worth it totally for peace of mind. Plus told me the sex of the baby early which I wanted to know! Sure it was called harmony or something similar.

Popalina65 · 08/04/2023 20:30

@StarDolphins thank you x

spangleswereace · 08/04/2023 20:31

Congratulations!
I had my first at 40 and my second at 45, both straightforward pregnancies.
I opted to have the harmony test with my second for reassurance and also found out from that what sex the child would be.

annlee3817 · 08/04/2023 20:53

I have a seven month old and an almost eight year old and I'm 41, we paid to have the NIPT test done for reassurance. I was induced at 39 weeks due to my age, had to take aspirin daily from 12 weeks, again due to age, but otherwise it was a better pregnancy than my first, I was more active this time.

Dojiejo · 08/04/2023 21:42

I am 35 weeks pregnant and 43 years old. My son is 7 years and it has taken awhile to get here. Pregnancy wise I am
tired now (but also have anaemia and gestational diabetes). I think it doesn’t help that I haven’t been as active as normal as I fracture my foot prior to getting pregnant and only got out of a boot in January.

I had IVF and had testing of the embryo through that so didn’t get any additional testing apart from the NHS testing and that came back low risk.

Good luck.

Savoretti · 08/04/2023 21:47

I had my last at 42.
Said to midwife I assume I can’t have it at home because of my age and she said ‘of
course you can, no problem at all’
seems 42 is not that old (round here anyway) and that was 13 years ago.
I didn’t have any extra tests

SparkyBlue · 08/04/2023 22:27

I had a surprise at 43. I also paid to have the harmony test done with my gp. That gave me great reassurance as I found previous to that I couldn't relax. She is the absolute light of our lives and I can't imagine not having her. Age gaps can also be great fun. It's great when the older children have friends around as well they love chatting to the cute baby sister. It's a completely different dynamic to when I had my older two. Also think of the fun the older ones now will have helping plan things like Santa. Health wise I had an absolutely miserable pregnancy. Best of luck

Hi, first post on mumsnet! 41 yrs old and 9 wks. Have HG for the first time. Was freaking out today because I’m dehydrated and not sure whether it would harm the baby? Trying to sip water but I think the week 9 peak is hitting me hard!!

Dgu27 · 09/04/2023 17:24

I’m 42 and 12 weeks on Monday 🤞🏻 I have a 10 year old so like you, a big gap! High anxiety as mmc in Oct (8 weeks but only 6 on scan)but early scan at 10 weeks helped settle my nerves a little… lots of wriggling and lovely heartbeat ❤️nhs scan on Thursday though..so can feel my nerves creeping up again! Fingers crossed for us all x

Popalina65 · 10/04/2023 10:50

Thank you all so much for responding xx

I have my viability scan in the morning... I've stupidly read up about molar pregnancy and empty gestational sacks 😓

I feel so stupid because I took the morning after pill to prevent this pregnancy but now it's here I'm so desperate to be it's mummy.

I just pray those pills haven't stopped my bean from growing 🌱

Dgu27 · 14/04/2023 08:36

Good luck for today @spanglesj … after some pink discharge all day Tuesday/Wed I was panicking but the scan showed little one bouncing around 🥰 and measuring just over 12weeks 6 days! The relief! Let us know how you get on today- keeping everything crossed 🤞🏻

spanglesj · 14/04/2023 12:42

Wow that is great news congats. ☺️
thank you for your good luck wishes @Dgu27 . I’m getting so nervous now …. Honestly 3pm scans!🫣 and jsut learned how to tag in a post 😂

Dgu27 · 14/04/2023 15:50

@spanglesj i was so happy I got a 10am one!!!! Well done for tagging 😂I have 🤞🏻for you today x

spanglesj · 14/04/2023 17:12

Thank you @Dgu27 it was all good today, phew! Had a pretty appalling scan experience though which I found tough given this is following 2 mmcs (7 and 8 wks) but I mustn’t let that detract from the fact that I saw a strong heartbeat and some wriggling ☺️ x
when is your next scan? Is it just 20 wks even after 40 yrs old?

Dgu27 · 14/04/2023 18:27

Oh@spanglesj … I’m sorry not a good experience but yay to your little wriggler 😊What a massive relief- so pleased for you!!
Yep, next is 20 but then as over 40, get quite a few more later..one good thing!
But I don’t think I will be able to wait until 29 for reassurance… will definitely be getting a private one (with gender reveal!!)x

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/04/2023 20:48

I had my second at 42 (first at 29). It was a perfectly easy pregnancy and much better birth. I had a CVS test early on which was clear and not nearly as awful as I'd feared. It was all fine. He's 12 now 🙂. Wishing you all the very best Flowers
