right, you would think that this being my 3rd pg I would've got this by now but alas no.

I know am not allowed alcohol (sigh), caffine, shell fish, excessive tuna, Mr Whippy ice cream, alcohol (still sighing), unpasturised cheese and pate

but................. can someone please tell me does philidelphia count?!?!?!?!? spreadable boursin?!?!?!?!?!?

(have silly cravings and determined not to give in before I check )

Cxx

JODIEhavingababy · 14/02/2008 09:01

They are alright if they are pasterised (sp?) I don't have any in my fridge to check (unusually), but they should be OK. Just check the packaging.

schneebly · 14/02/2008 09:01

as long as they are both pasteurized (and I am pretty sure they are) you are fine. Enjoy!

Tapster · 14/02/2008 09:08

Seafood is okay now if its well cooked - according to the food standard agency. Philly is fine

napa · 14/02/2008 09:49

philidelphia and boursin are fine as are mozzarella, dairylea, and the hard cheeses and tapster is spot on about the seafood just in moderation

crokky · 14/02/2008 09:50

philly is fine

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2008 09:50

What about pepperoni and salami? I was told with first pg that you're not meant to have them but never seen anything about it - why not? Why do I always want brie as soon as I get pg?

ThePFJ · 14/02/2008 09:52

There was another thread about this recently, with Peanuts in the title. I learnt there that as for cheeses, its really only the stilton/moudly soft cheeses that are the real worry, and that boursin and Philly are ok. Also (dont pig out) you can have peanuts now. Excessive tuna/caffeine/alcohol also not good as you have mentioned.

Have fun. xx

mishymoo · 14/02/2008 09:57

Philly is fine as it is pasteurised!

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2008 10:00

I still try to keep away from peanuts as I did with other two pregnancies and they were ok so I feel I ought to take the same approach. It's rather annoying when they just keep changing their bloomin' minds all the time (e.g. alcohol). As I'm going to do exactly what I did first time round, that is no booze for 1st trimester and a little of what I fancy the rest of the time.

MrsTittleMouse · 14/02/2008 10:04

What's wrong with MrWhippy icecream?????

Are prawns OK? I just can't remember. I do wonder about prawns in a cafe sandwich that might have been hanging about.

JODIEhavingababy · 14/02/2008 10:06

I was told that soft cheeses such as Brie and blue cheeses were OK as long as they have been cooked and are still warm when eaten, ie a bacon brie and cranberry baguette!!

ThePFJ · 14/02/2008 10:14

Prawns often hang about in cafe sandwiches TittleMouse. Apparently they have meetings there about taking over the world and such.

MissusH · 14/02/2008 10:18

Mr Whippy Ice Cream??? Nooooooooooooo!

I too will be large of bump over the summer and lurve soft swirly ice cream...

(lol at prawn meetings )

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2008 10:19

pfj
I think the mr whippy thing (and flurries from mcdonalds) is because it's unpasteurised and also because they're not cleaned every night so chance of bacteria pretty high. After I found that out, I haven't had one, pg or not! Other ice cream is fine.
Warmed brie not my thing, unfortunately. I like it stone cold on ryvita. Must stop thinking about it!

MissusH · 14/02/2008 10:23

thanks accessorizequeen - will just have to get dh to buy the expensive stuff then

must stop thinking about food - making the ms just that bit worse - yuk...

MrsTittleMouse · 14/02/2008 10:23

Oh no! No MrWhippy and no lurking prawns.
Do you think that they swear and kick the ground like the teenagers on the high street?

MrsTittleMouse · 14/02/2008 10:25

PS Dreadful to admit it, but my first thought after fertility treatment was - Bugger! Why haven't I eaten more soft boiled eggs/brie/blue cheese/drunk the Cava that's been sitting in the fridge for a month???

MissusH · 14/02/2008 10:32

MrsT - I think they wear little hoodies...

Louandben · 14/02/2008 10:36

The list seems endless - no salami/parma ham etc as this is technically raw - no brie/blue cheese/soft eggs/alcohol/seafood that has been loitering with intent - imagine what a great time I had on a weekend in Barcelona with DH and another couple, touring endless tapas bars watching them devour delicious mouthfuls of tapas that seemed to consist exclusively of all of the above, washed down with huge quantities of cava, beer and rioja Very bad planning booking that and then conceiving immediately! Have to admit I cheated a bit....on almost all fronts..

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2008 10:56

Yeah, I really don't believe (and there is no evidence to suggest) that a bit of any of these things will harm your baby, it's just for advice. EVEN alcohol. Blah, blah, my mum had everything on the list AND no stairgate and yet still I'm here (and my 3 siblings). I'm nervous now of having a drink in public as someone will tell me off!
Rats, no salami. Is pepperoni cooked???
It's lucky I don't like prawns because the thought of chasing after lurking ones with hoodies is quite appealing.

MrsTittleMouse · 14/02/2008 10:58

I've cheated a bit with the alcohol thing - mostly to disguise the fact that I'm pregnant (although I've been very careful and kept the amounts very small).
I wouldn't cheat with Listeria though - there is very good evidence about that.

lollipopmother · 14/02/2008 11:01

Oh sh*t, only last night I ate prawns AND Mr Whippy, I am going to hell! I've only just got over the realisation that I shouldn't have used oven cleaner, and that was at Xmas!!

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2008 11:05

What's wrong with oven cleaner? Not that I use it

MrsBadger · 14/02/2008 11:08

it's all here

stop stressing about it, stress is much worse for you than icecream!
