Due late September/early October 2023

Anyone else due around this time? I'm due at the end of September but suspect it might be later than that. Hoping for an October baby as it's my favourite month in the year!

I'm still in the nausea-inducing first trimester but only a few weeks to go before some relief, apparently. I have felt car sick pretty much everyday for 5 weeks, relieved temporarily by eating whatever I am craving.

I'm planning a few little holidays during the second trimester. It'll be nice to spend some quality time with my husband before we become parents. And hopefully to sleep well on hotel beds.

I am nervous but excited about the future beyond that. I'm nervous of bad news, of continued terrible nausea through the best part of this year, of childbirth, of the lack of sleep I know is coming with having a child, of the pain of breastfeeding. I'm looking forward to seeing the baby grow into a person who can speak and who I can read stories too. It's something we take for granted, but it still blows my mind you can love another person and then combine your DNA and have a child who might be totally different from both of us. There's no saying who we are all going to meet – and what lives they have ahead of them!

I'm due at the end of September as well! Thought it was going to be mid October, because I just don't understand how I could get pregnant at end of a cycle or during the first couple of days of my period, but here we are! It must have been one of those 'sperm hanging around' situations 😂

I had my dating scan about a week ago and no letter about screening results yet, but at the scan they said that nothing showed up looking like a risk factor, so at least that part seems clear.

colourPink · 02/04/2023 08:07

@MummyInBucks congratulations! How are you feeling?

Less than two weeks before I find out the gender now! I can't wait! (We have gone private). And I'm finally starting to show - everyone says I've suddenly got a little bump.

Hope everyone is feeling okay 🌟

Kayycatt · 02/04/2023 23:31

Hi @MummyInBucks congrats and glad all went well with your dating scan!

@esgill I don't have a lot of craving at the moment, I am just using pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever I want right now.

@colourPink i think I am getting a bump too but mainly from all the food I have been eating. I only told my manager about my pregnancy, won't tell colleagues till I can't the bump anymore! Have told closed friends and family though!

I did the NIPT test privately due to my age (the NHS blood test came back at 1:5000 for all conditions tests but I am still worried as I hear others have less than 1:10,000). Anyway the NIPT came with optional gender test as well. I want to find out so we can think of names already but we decide not to tell anyone until the little is born though!

colourPink · 03/04/2023 19:39

@Kayycatt mine cam back >1 in 20,000 but as long as it isn't less than 150 they don't worry about it.

I really wouldn't worry! That's still a very low chance and there's no point worrying unless you need to. I was born with a club foot so have a consultancy appointment after my 20 week scan to see if the bubba has it. I think that's about a 1 in 30 chance so much higher (I'm nervous about it). But taking my own advice and not worrying until I need to.

Kayycatt · 04/04/2023 07:45

@colourPink thanks. Hopefully you have nothing to worry about.

You are right, trying not to think too much. Trying to relax and enjoy the second trimester.

Need to start thinking of maternity clothes. I am still trying to hide my little bump as I don't want to announce it at work yet, only told my manager as there may be a promotion upcoming and I don't want this to affect anything but glad to hear he said it didn't change anything as I would be employed still regardless.

I can't button up my usual work trousers, using elastic band to stretch out the top button. Anyone got any other ideas how to fit in your 'normal' clothes with creative alternations?

colourPink · 04/04/2023 19:15

@Kayycatt tbh I've given up and I'm wearing maternity clothes 🤣 my oversized shirts still fit so I wear those looks over maternity work trousers and that worlds. Also flowy dresses (I can still wear my pre-pregnancy ones for now).

I've judged ordered a few cheap bits to help me as I constantly have nothing to wear 🙊😂

esgill · 05/04/2023 17:18

@MummyInBucks congratulations! And welcome to the September/October birth club lol.

I'm also starting to get a tiny bump, but I think to most people it will just look like i've gained a tiny bit of weight around my waist...

@Kayycatt I think 1:5000 are good odds. I got 1:10,000 but they say not to worry unless it's 1:150 or less. I was so shaky when I received the letter in the post. Hard when you have no control over things.

@colourPink Ahh that's so exciting! I might go private and find out the gender in a week and a half, too. I'm just too impatient to wait until week 20! Do you have a gut feeling re whether it's going to be a girl or boy?

OP posts:
colourPink · 05/04/2023 17:35

@esgill most of my family are convinced boy but friends girl. I honestly have NO idea. I thought I'd have a "feeling" but I don't!

So excited to know we'll find out next Saturday! I'm way too impatient and I like knowing we'll see bubba and know everything is okay. We had our dating scan at 11+3 and 9 weeks is a long time to check on things (in my opinion).

Hope everyone is feeling okay 🥰

Kayycatt · 05/04/2023 23:40

@colourPink I am still resisting to wear maternity clothing! My sister has offered some of her old clothes but I said maybe in a month or two. I am still trying hard to squeeze into my normal trousers!

@esgill I was so nervous too while waiting for the results. I feel more assured now that I have done the NIPT test. It's just me though, coz I know that I would be thinking about it the whole time if I didn't do the NIPT test.

We have found out the gender already but keeping it a secret for now. Hehe. Enjoy the moment when you all find out! I have already shortlisted some names :)

colourPink · 09/04/2023 15:16

@Kayycatt how many weeks are you now? So exciting that you know the gender!

Kayycatt · 09/04/2023 18:38

@colourPink I am 15+2 today. You?

Hope you gender scan goes well next week. It's all so exciting! :)

Anyone else looking forward to finding out the gender soon or keeping it a surprise?

colourPink · 09/04/2023 19:18

@Kayycatt I'm 15+4 so very similar 🥰 6 days and counting until we find out!

MinalS · 13/04/2023 16:02

Hi everyone,

I'm 16wks and due Sept 26th.. It's my first pregnancy - having struggling with Endometriosis it's definitely a miracle baby and we're really excited. We didn't even know we were pregnant as I pretty much bled through the first trimester.

Is there a Facebook group set up for UK September babies? Just thought it'd be nice to have people around.

Congratulations to everyone also expecting xx

esgill · 16/04/2023 23:33

16 + 2 and HOW am I still feeling sick??

I am in two minds about whether to get a gender scan next week. I really want to but also seems crazy to fork out £60 when I'll now in May, just because I'm curious...

I'm also weirdly nervous! Like I don't think I have a gender preference but it makes it more real and suddenly i'll feel like I have to commit to one future rather than having the potential of two. How are you all feeling about it?

@MinalS congratulations! I have endometriosis too so understand the pain of it though it didn't seem to impact on my fertility, touch wood...

@esgill I'm 16+5 and we had a gender scan on the weekend. We're having a boy! I was too impatient to wait 😂

esgill · 17/04/2023 21:16

@colourPink congratulations!! How do you feel? I'm so impatient too, I'm booking one for tomorrow morning haha. I'll be 16 +4. How many days were you when you did the scan?

OP posts:
colourPink · 17/04/2023 21:20

@esgill excited! I had a feeling it was a boy. I was secretly hoping for a girl but I think a lot of mums do! Maybe next time.

I was 16+3 when I had the scan 🥰

RMS0209 · 17/04/2023 21:36

@esgill I was 16+5 for my gender scan x

esgill · 17/04/2023 21:37

@colourPink aww are you feeling any gender disappointment or are you now excited to have a boy? I'm sure as many people say, you'll love the baby when they arrive no matter who they are, but yes I think this is very common.

I think early on in pregnancy I was pretty set on having a girl too, and I felt like I had to rewrite my thinking or I worried I shouldn't go ahead with it at all. I thought about what it was that I liked about the idea of having a girl: basically pretty dresses, imagining someone sensitive and sweet rather than into football. A lot of these things I realised were stereotypes I had in my mind rather than set in stone. In reality, a baby boy could grow up to be a sensitive artistic type and a little girl could grow up into football and never wear a dress in her life. I wondered, too, if part of me wanted to reparent myself? I think mothers tend to get on very well with their sons. And also, lots of my friends growing up were boys. And my husband is one of the loveliest people. I've now well and truly convinced myself I'd be very happy to have a boy.

I booked a gender scan for tomorrow and feel I'll feel a little disappointment whatever they tell me. It means one vision of the future is not going to happen right now. But yes, it could in future, and I'm sure we'll both love our babies whoever they are x

@RMS0209 are you having a boy or a girl? x

RMS0209 · 17/04/2023 21:56

@esgill I am having a little boy 💙 so excited! 18 weeks now.. can't wait!

Please do tell us your results tomorrow, I am very excited for you. I get what you mean about the visions x

RMS0209 · 18/04/2023 07:17

Is anybody else having strong/sore round ligament pains? Wowie 18+2 today and I had the worst sleep with these pains and then my legs decided to start getting invovled and being sore also... thank goodness today is a WFH day .

@esgill good luck at scan today and anybody else who has x

esgill · 18/04/2023 14:00

@RMS0209 thank you! We had the scan this morning and ahhhh we're having a baby girl. I was actually so surprised as a lot of friends had gut feelings we were having a boy. Very excited though...

And yes, I think at 16 +4 I'm starting to get round ligament pain. Last night I was really uncomfortable. How are you easing it? I'm thinking I should try and bring back my yoga practice now I'm out of the first trimester.

@esgill congrats on your baby girl! I am excited to have a boy - it just all feels so surreal! I can't believe it's all happening.
