Due late September/early October 2023

Anyone else due around this time? I'm due at the end of September but suspect it might be later than that. Hoping for an October baby as it's my favourite month in the year!

I'm still in the nausea-inducing first trimester but only a few weeks to go before some relief, apparently. I have felt car sick pretty much everyday for 5 weeks, relieved temporarily by eating whatever I am craving.

I'm planning a few little holidays during the second trimester. It'll be nice to spend some quality time with my husband before we become parents. And hopefully to sleep well on hotel beds.

I am nervous but excited about the future beyond that. I'm nervous of bad news, of continued terrible nausea through the best part of this year, of childbirth, of the lack of sleep I know is coming with having a child, of the pain of breastfeeding. I'm looking forward to seeing the baby grow into a person who can speak and who I can read stories too. It's something we take for granted, but it still blows my mind you can love another person and then combine your DNA and have a child who might be totally different from both of us. There's no saying who we are all going to meet – and what lives they have ahead of them!

@colourPink @Izzie94x

Thanks both. That makes me feel slightly better. I will make sure to drink about 45 mins before and hopefully the appointment won't run late!

How is everyone doing so far? As most of my symptoms have now gone (apart from the copious amount of CM!). I forget that I am pregnant at times, which is strange.

Have you all told your friends/family about the pregnancy yet? I plan to do it after the dating scan and the tests, making sure that all is fine before we share.

Izzie94x · 12/03/2023 18:13

You’re welcome @Kayycatt 😌 I have heard the hospital where I am at usually runs behind, so don’t overdo it! Lol!!

I am exactly the same! Basically symptomless but lots of cm!! I am super bloated too, but I think that’s all down to the IVF drugs too.

We’ve actually already told our close family, but that was just because our circumstances were a little different and they helped us fund our IVF treatment, it’s been lovely having so much support around me so early. Which you don’t usually get! But I do feel a little gutted there’s no surprise in it. Is anyone doing any cute reveals?

hope everyone else is doing ok and had a lovely weekend!! 😊 x

esgill · 13/03/2023 20:49

I had two days of respite from nausea and then today it came back in waves. But fortunately, I'm glad to feel a tiny bit more energy and more important than anything for me right now mental clarity. I am able to do a bit of work and read and concentrate after months of feeling I'm looking at the world through a veil. Are any of you feeling like your getting your mind back?

I managed an outing yesterday to another city. I had bad nausea at times but eating regularly helped keep it under control.

Sorry if TMI, but are any of you having digestive issues/IBS? My tummy has been funny since conception...

OP posts:
PBandJs · 13/03/2023 23:38

@esgill no such thing as TMI here 😂 I’ve been fluctuating between constipation and looser movements, and really awful bloating and wind. It was terrible the first few weeks, I looked about 4 months gone but then it calmed down and now it’s back again. I’ve suddenly got a bump this week and I’m suspicious it could just be wind again.

glad you’re starting to feel better and hope it continues to improve. I’m still low on energy and not feeling particularly sharp brain wise but hoping it’ll lift soon.

anyone else having problems with acne? It started a few weeks in and I thought it was starting to settle but it’s got bad again this week. On my neck, chest and back mostly 😞

Kayycatt · 14/03/2023 19:30

@Izzie94x won't be doing any cute reveals, will prob just be showing them the scan photo with a caption 'see you in Sept 2023'. I am not very creative 😂

I have been feeling very bloated as well, which have been painful at times, so I need to be very careful not to overeat which I tend to do a lot. I love my food...

Omg, the acne is horrible for me too! I have started using azelaic acid from ordinary which massively helped.

esgill · 15/03/2023 14:00

@PBandJs @Kayycatt

Glad it's not just me – I also have a bloating bump!

The skin on my face is clear, but I've been getting some acne on my neck and shoulders, oddly.

Still feeling sick :( hoping for relief soon.

Kayycatt · 15/03/2023 18:26

Had the dating scan today, was so relieved! Mainly I was worried that my bladder wasn't full enough to see anything. The sonographer did mention that I did a good job with the full bladder 😄so proud of myself.

We then walked into town after the scan and saw a teddy bear with a blanket that says 'Born in 2023', we had to get it as a way to remember today :)

Who else is waiting for their dating scan?

Daisy0909 · 16/03/2023 09:37

@Kayycatt Aww lovely I'm glad it all went well!

I had what they thought was my dating scan but I was too early (longer cycles!) so I have my official dating scan next week when I'll be 13+4.. so excited to see how much baby has grown in the last 3 weeks!

Kayycatt · 17/03/2023 00:46

@Daisy0909 Ooooh, will be exciting to see the growth of the baby.

I think we don't get another scan now until 24 weeks on NHS? Do people pay for private scans in between?

I have been eating way too much and feel like I am using pregnancy as an excuse to eat whenever I want. I need to stop before it gets out of control. Anyone has the same issue? Or just me who has no self control 😅

Daisy0909 · 17/03/2023 09:26

@Kayycatt I think the next one is between 18-20 weeks but you're right, after that we won't get any more (unless they are concerned about growth and you'll get a couple of extra scans!)

I've been on/off with food but on days where I can eat, I definitely don't hold back if I want a treat so it's not just you 😅

colourPink · 18/03/2023 20:48

I've booked a private scan for when I'm 16+3 to find out the gender. So excited!

I had a John Lewis appointment today which I highly recommend. You get a 1:1 with a consultant who can talk you through pretty much anything (I've chosen prams). They know everything and even take the make/model/year of your car to make sure it's all compatible. You then get a discount if you buy you spend a certain amount.

I was planning on JUST looking but my MIL bought our pram & our bassinet for the downstairs. We got a whole travel system with a swivel car seat which I really wanted. As we spent over £1500 we got 15% off so worth it! Just thought I'd recommend this service 🙂

Bluewhitefloral · 20/03/2023 08:55

Hi all!

Fellow end Sept/early Oct due dater here. I have my ‘12 week’ NHS ultrasound on 29th March (although think I will be around 13.5 weeks by then) as I’ve estimated 1st October.

I’ve had two scans already, one at 6 weeks at the EPU and a private 11 week one, both due to spotting and cramps and both times, all was well. I tell you, my anxiety levels
are through the roof with it 😓Nervous every time I wipe! Has anyone else been dealing with this?

The exhaustion is real isn’t it 😂hoping for the 2nd trimester burst of energy loads of Mums
talk about! The nausea has definitely affected my appetite as just feel full all the time. I had a balanced diet pre pregnancy but now have gone right off food and don’t look forward to eating anything (which for me is unheard of 😂)

esgill · 20/03/2023 18:51

Just had my 12 week scan at 12 + 3. All looks healthy. Need to wait 2 weeks for downs blood test results. So anxiety inducing!

Nausea is still going with a vengeance, and fatigue, but I feel more mentally with it so that's good at least...

Exciting to be on the same journey as you all/hear about your dating scans.

OP posts:
Kayycatt · 20/03/2023 20:17

@colourPink I haven't shopped for anything yet, just general browsing on the web about products. Think will start shopping once it has settled all in properly! Am still in the 'I can't quite believe it' stage...

@Bluewhitefloral I get really tired these days as well. I want to head to bed around 7/8pm these days and then I wake up at 5/6am regardless what time I go to bed, which is not great!

@esgill glad to hear the dating scan went well. I am waiting for my blood test too, they haven't told me when I will get the results back and I haven't asked. Silly me. Assume 2 weeks then or will give them a call then...

esgill · 24/03/2023 15:46

Anyone heard back from dating scan screening yet? I had mine on Monday, assuming for now no news is good news, as I heard they contact you earlier if you're high risk? Sometimes by the phone...

I'm at 13 weeks now, and actually feel more sick :(

OP posts:
Kayycatt · 24/03/2023 17:08

I got my results about a week after the test in the post. I heard others mentioned that if you were high risk, then they would contact you 2-3 days after taking your blood. Otherwise, if the results come in the post, it generally mean you are low risk.

Sorry to hear that you feel more sick :( hopefully it will calm down a little? I still have some evening nausea (never morning) but otherwise, all other symptoms seem to have calmed down.

PBandJs · 24/03/2023 21:15

@esgill I was told 2 weeks to wait for letter with outcome but she said in reality they will contact me within 3 days if high risk so if I don’t hear it means it’s ok.

my symptoms have come back with a vengeance in the last week or so, feels like I’m back at the beginning again! Nausea had gone and now I’m having to eat constantly again to avoid it. Bloating is terrible again too 😫

colourPink · 25/03/2023 13:42

@esgill I had my dating scan and bloody over two weeks ago and still no letter or results.

I'm taking it as no news is good news!

colourPink · 25/03/2023 15:56

Got home after an afternoon out and the letter was there! So it did take just over two weeks to come 🙂

esgill · 25/03/2023 21:02

Thanks @PBandJs @Kayycatt @colourPink

Okay, it's been 5 days so I'm hoping that no news yet means good news! I've been scared of phone calls this week...

@PBandJs eurgh being back in the terrible nausea is so frustrating isn't it? Mine never left but it was easing and I've been so unwell this past week :( I wonder why, given that the placenta is meant to take over. I've been exhausted, too. A whole day spent in bed binging The White Lotus.

@Kayycatt I'm glad you're feeling a bit better!

For now, I don't have any more appointments or a date for my 20-week scan. Do any of you? Or is this done via a letter/phone call at a later date?

OP posts:
colourPink · 26/03/2023 11:03

@esgill I need to book my 16 week midwife appointment. But they booked our 20 week scan at our 12 week appointment so I already know mine is on the 20th May.

We've personally booked a 16 week private scan so we can find out the gender 🙂

Kayycatt · 26/03/2023 12:17

@esgill I have another appointment with the midwife in mid-April to discuss the blood test results I think? This appointment was made at the same time when I first had my blood taken. After that, it's the 20 weeks scan.

Sorry to hear that everyone still affected by their symptoms, hopefully it will calm down for you all soon. I have read somewhere that the second trimester is supposed to be the 'nicest' one of the three :D

esgill · 28/03/2023 18:33

Thanks @Kayycatt and @colourPink -- I got my letter through today with the 20-week scan date. I'm still waiting for a 16-week appointment. No news yet re screenings tests and it's been over a week, so hopefully no news is good news (touch wood!)

I am feeling so sick and tired this week. I woke up at 3 am last night STARVING and ended up having to have a glass of almond-rice milk and a couple of digestive biscuits to settle my stomach. How are your appetites?

And how are your cravings?! I'm vegan and have been for 7 years. I've even vegetarian all my life. I've never so much as thought about cheese but I am majorly craving hard cheeses like paneer and halloumi. I can't stop thinking about it and wondering if I should cave, a pregnancy exception? :/

OP posts:
PBandJs · 29/03/2023 00:01

@esgill 😂 I have never eaten fish in my life and am completely grossed out by it, but had about a week of craving it to the point I found myself watching episodes of Rick Stein’s fish cooking programmes. I eventually tried it and pleased to say the craving has since passed but I couldn’t understand how I could crave something I don’t ever eat! It’s strange what they can do to us and pregnancy is definitely an exception.

esgill · 29/03/2023 20:26

@PBandJs omg that's so weird. Did eating it help at least? I have never eaten meat or fish and can't imagine ever craving it!

I feel terrible but yesterday I actually caved after two months of craving it and my poor husband went out to get me a paneer curry, which I thought would satisfy the craving. When it arrived I thought it actually smelled terrible. Then I ate some and it tasted sooo much worse than I remember it. Oddly sweet and rancid with a rubbery texture. It's put me right off the cheese craving and also reaffirmed my veganism. But now I'm here wondering what will satisfy this need I have for something that's obviously not cheese, haha.
