I have just got a positive test result

But last week DD was asking me whether I had a baby in my tummy and was most insistently demanding that I open up my belly button to show her whether there was someone in there.

Has anyone else had a similar experience??

yes, but with my Dad. He has known before me (at least a week before)with 2/3 babies.

He knew every time with my mum too.

Congrats

my friend did. Their dd came home with a picture of Mummy, Daddy, herself and her new baby brother - lo & behold not only did the Mum find out she was pregnant a few days later but it was a boy!

Maenad · 08/02/2008 18:28

Oooh, this is positively spooky. But in a nice way.

Fingers crossed for you Marne!

Yes with two work collegues. They asked me one morning if I had something to tell them!!! I said NO. They both agreed I had a "glow" about me and were convinced I was pregnant I took a test and BINGO I was.

flamingtoaster · 08/02/2008 18:41

My friend's dog knew she was pregnant before she did - it started walking very close to her on walks and growling if another dog came near. It had not done either of these before.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 08/02/2008 18:43

My cat had me worried a few months ago as she kept sitting really close to me and she only ever did it when I was pregnant.

Minkus · 08/02/2008 19:45

When I had just foud I was pregnant, DH told ds he had some chocolate in his tum, what did ds have? DS said "my dinner and mummy has got a baby in hers"- there is no way he could have known/overhead us talking. Kids have a sixth sense sometimes that is just wierd!

Minkus · 08/02/2008 19:45

And congratulations Maenad on positive test!

mumblesmummy · 08/02/2008 20:15

Congratulations!!

My DP knew before I did. He was sure of it.

But for your daughter to know.. spooky but cool!!! Bet they're really close growing up.

china11 · 08/02/2008 21:24

I am sure our cat knows when I am pregnant, he keeps trying to sit on my lap and massage my stomache. Only seems to do it when I am expecting - strange

Pitufina · 08/02/2008 21:25

That's just reminded me of something my son said just over a week ago. I had just found out I was pregnant (am now 6 weeks). He suddenly said to me: "I have a sister" !!! He did then go on to say that this sister was in fact his toy giraffe!! But it did seem quite spooky as it was not long after I did the test.
I just hope I don't give birth to a giraffe!!!

bran · 08/02/2008 21:27

They can get it wrong too, ds has asked me if I have a baby in my belly 3 times in as many weeks. I don't.

dippydeedoo · 08/02/2008 21:30

my eldest son aged 6 told everyone he was having a new baby brother,i went around telling everyone we werent then lo and bhold 3 months later when i was more than 16 weeks pregnant we had to say yes he was right!! he said he wished for one strange this was hed wished for one to come after his bday(aug) but b4 ds2 bday(oct) matts came in sept!!!!! we only do argos book wishes now lol

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/02/2008 21:31

My nephew asked me when my baby was coming. He was 4, and dp and I had found out a week before that I was unexpectedly pg and hadn't told a sole.

He also told us it was a boy (which it was) and that we were going to call it Alfie (which was a name we had been discussing).

It was very spooky, but he has done things like this on many occasions, but he seems to be losing it as he gets older.

mumblesmummy · 08/02/2008 21:59

D'ya know, when I was little, I always knew things would happen before they did - like I knew we were going to be in a car crash one day and spookily we were. And LOADS of other things. On a pretty much daily basis. It doesn't happen much anymore. When my little brother was really little he said to me 'you know don't you?' and I was like 'what?' and he said 'you know things before they happen like I do. i can tell.' That was very weird coming from a little kid!! He said that for years but he doesn't get it much now either.

Not that I'm saying we're gifted lol... just food for thought.

suwoo · 08/02/2008 22:12

DD knew when her Godmother was, she said at DS's christening, 'I think J.. has got a baby in her tummy' we all found out 2 weeks later that she indeed had! Will be having said baby on 18th feb

lollipopmother · 09/02/2008 10:35

That is all rather spooky! When I told the "in-laws" that I was pregnant my FIL said instantly 'I knew that! I said when I left work that we were going to see you and that I think there's going to be an announcement!" They were actually coming up for my partner's birthday so it was perfectly reasonable for them to be coming over. There's no way he could've known, they live about 200 miles away and we hadn't told a single person before then!

rainbowdays · 09/02/2008 11:15

Maenad - congratulations on your pregnancy.

It was not my children but my dad who knew before I did, he knew with all three successful pregnancies so far. It was weird because when I was pg with one that I miscarried, it was the only time he did not know before hand.

My only dilemma now is that, with my current pregnancy, he claimed he even knew the name we would call him! (yep he has got the gender right each time too) When I said the name we were contemplating my mum just laughed as we had got it "right"!. However Dh has now gone off the name, so we wait to see if for the first time my dad has got part of his foresight wrong

Sarahjct · 09/02/2008 12:50

My cousin texted and said she'd had a premonition that I was having a girl called Hattie. This was two days after our positive pg test when we had told no one at all about the pg but already decided on the name we'd use if it was a girl. Harriet is now four weeks old!

RainyWednesday · 11/02/2008 17:47

I told someone that my mum was PG with her second child before she'd told anyone else, including my dad

addictedtoharibo · 12/02/2008 08:30

DS - 18 months - keeps lifting my top and telling me "baby in there". He also tells random people we meet "baby in there" and points to my tummy. Before I was pregnant he didnt know the word "baby" or "in there", lol.

Was starting to wonder if he was psychic then realised one of his key workers in nursery was pregnant...she must have been telling them all "baby in there"...but why does he only think there is a baby in my stomach no one elses?

The other slightly more worrying thing is when I ask him "wheres the baby?" he will lift my top and say "baby there...and baby there" pointing to two separate spots - always low down (im 10 weeks). When I ask him if there are one or two babies he always responds with "two" with a very serious look on his face.

My mum reckons its because its easier to say "two" than "one" but still....

I've just had another comment from my son. Maybe I'm just imagining things though! This morning he was playing on our bed, saying it was a car. I said I'd sleep in the boot of the car instead of sitting in the front as I was still tired. He then said that in the trailer there was a tiny tiny baby girl! I asked him who's baby it was and he said he didn't know, but it still made me think. Especially after the other comment he made a few weeks ago.
Maybe it's all a load of rubbish. Who knows!
