To vitamin K or not to Vitamin K…

Hey ladies, did anyone decline their vitamin K shots or if not entirely decline then opt for oral drops ? Any stories or it being good or bad ? As always there is pretty contradictory articles online about its risks vs benefits with ingredients and reactions. I’ve said no in my birthing plan but think I might change my mind if there’s little risk. Midwives has said better to get it.

Read the book, don't read the book, just sharing what I found a useful resource.

Ignore the people questioning you, your not just following the crowd and automatically going ahead, you are concerned and informing yourself before hand that's a responsible parent.
I've also been looking lots into this, my leaflet from my consultant states at the bottom that in the 70s research was done to see if vitamin k in high dose. I.e the injection causes childhood leukaemia. And it goes onto say the study was never completed or reopend again . I have also read articles where they are not sure if vitamin k overload causes jaundice . As the amount administered strains there tiny livers and kidneys.
I do trust in the human body and also question does it need human intervention so soon, and why wouldn't our breast milk be sufficient enough considering its enough for everything else.
I hear you mumma ignore the why wouldn't you comments. If the last 3 years has taught us anything it's that's not all can be trusted in the world.

@KLMmumma you mean the antivaxxer blogger who says I need to talk about being Christian, because it is the foundation of why I have chosen to not vaccinate Aimery. Because of my morals, I can not vaccinate Aimery in good conscious...

Always follow a crazy blogger's advice against medical doctor with a medical degree. Great start in life

Hi mums!
I wondered if any of you had a similar issue. For over a month my baby has a soft squashy lump on top of his head. It disappears when you press it with your finger. Pictures attached. He is 10 weeks old now. We visited the GP and waiting for the referral for an ultrasound but I thought meanwhile I may ask other mums maybe somebody had a similar issue. The GP thought it might be a vein- some sort of vein valve pathology. The lump does look blueish sometimes.

@JohnnysMama you should start your own thread as you've posted on a thread about vitamin K vaccines after birth

its always good to question what we are putting into our children , instead of blindly following advice and guidance pushed on us. There is no extensive evidence to support the need for vitamin K. VKDB is rare and only occurs to a small number of babies who are breast fed by mother who were taking a certain type of medication prior to birth .

alot of scaremongering goes on though to force us to accept pumping something unnecessary drugs into our children. For me natural is always better where possible.

Natural led to high maternal and child mortality.

It's good to question. It's also ok to trust the scientists that have asked the question over and over, and given an answer.

Yeah, because the scientists have never got it catastrophically wrong have they?

xogossipgirlxo · 22/06/2023 16:08

We have decided to go for drops as there are cases of blood clots in my husband's family, so don't want to take risk with shots.

Clo02clo · 22/06/2023 18:13

Couldn't agree more. People have a really short memory in regards to us "average" humans being the science and trials. Did you see how many years and battles before they could admit that thalidomide was causing servere birth defects. The science battled and swore it wasn't until they couldn't deny it no more. And those victims damage never got so much as an apology 🤔 how people can question nature over science baffles me. Each to there own absolutely! but our instinct as mothers are no longer valued we are no longer aloud to question the narrative . We are bombarded with fear and shamed if we do not follow suit 😒
