Faint Positive?

Previous thread today - 4 days late and was testing negative. I haven’t tested on my first urine of the day on any tests. But this afternoon I THINK i’ve got a faint positive, so used the same urine sample to do digital and it took ages (thought it was broken tbh) and come up ‘not pregnant’. I have attached photo’s underneath. My friend also then darkened my photo and it is a lot clearer. What would you do going from here - Test again in a few days with first urine of the day? Wait till a week or so?

@allgoodthings84 ok thankyou for this! :) I missed carried at 10 weeks, but i didn't see the GP i was told to go to the hospital. and then i just had bed rest for a few days at home. but my bleeding during my MC was severe so that might have been why.

OP posts:
cgwx · 03/01/2023 14:21

@1000yellowdaisies thankyou for this information - i miscarried before at 10 weeks and the GP never saw me then either, but i was told to go to the hospital and was checked to make sure everything had "come away" ect. rested for a few days after at home. my bleeding was severe though. aww thankyou :) no spotting today as of yet

update for everyone - I managed to speak to the GP just for clarity i suppose, she said the test is a positive (the picture i started this thread with) and that she can absolutely see a line but its so faint to see. she said that its 1/3 things... either I'm having implantation bleeding and i ovulated later, which would be why i was getting negatives before and a slight positive now or early pregnancy bleeding, neither are things to worry about. secondly that the bleeding is a chemical pregnancy and if it stops and you test negative then thats what they would treat it as. or thirdly my period will just come like normal but late. so told me to monitor things over the next few days. but she did say if i get abdominal pain or lower back pain then i need to call back.

@TheShellBeach how is its wasting a doctors time. I've had complicated pregnancy's in the past and its better that its on my health records. I also have anaemia and have tablets for this, so if theres anything irregular they need to know about it. If the NHS was private and i had to pay for an appointment i still would have done so all the same. The NHS isn't on its needs for people with genuine health concerns or queries, its on its needs for people using the services for 'farting in the wrong tune'. Ask any doctor and they will tell you, if you're concerned about anything you call them, thats their job. And quite frankly i don't need rude people on this post thankyou.

scoobycute · 03/01/2023 14:46

@TheShellBeach waow how incredibly rude and insensitive..astounded at what people say on these forums yet wouldn't say that face to face to someone worried about a possible miscarriage (after suffering previously) or fertility issue.

@cgwx sorry to hear your stresses! I had a very very similar line on a first response test with implantation bleeding and then the following days tested negative during my last cycle so I am certain I had another chemical.

It's just a waiting game!! So difficult! I used to urge myself not to take tests until I was days late but think I failed on all accounts!!

cgwx · 03/01/2023 14:51

@scoobycute very rude. obviously this post was at face value based on what my test was saying on 01st.. nobody knows my medical conditions so for a stranger who doesn't know me to be blurting out I'm wasting a GPs time is a bit extreme. but anyway, have you. Beens as my spotting was only yesterday when wiping nothing else, and had nothing else today I'm hoping all is ok. going to leave it a few days before i test again. if thats faint or negative then i know its chemical based on what others have said

The reasin I made that comment was because there is NOTHING a doctor can do about this situation and also, all the things the doctor said have already been said in the course of
this thread.
I've had countless miscarriages myself and I would not dream of ringing a doctor because my pregnancy test was barely positive and I'd had a little spotting.

cgwx · 03/01/2023 15:05

@TheShellBeach i appreciate things have been said in this thread, i didn't even see these until after anyway. but it still wouldn't have made a difference i phoned because i needed reassurance from my GP whatever direction it chooses to go. The GP has a better knowledge on medical situations and health in general... for all i know she could have said to me "this test is absolutely a chemical pregnancy." and at this point i would definitely not be going out and buying more tests. It isn't just about miscarrying and how many you've had, if you're on any type of medication it could cause anything. you just can never be to sure. i feel absolutely better for speaking to my GP and thats all that matters.

@TheShellBeach huh? Of course..Mumsnet forums are the source of all sound medical advice and support thus no need for a conversation with a GP 🤦🏼‍♀️

She wanted a second MEDICAL opinion on her situation.

This is not the reason why the NHS is "on its knees" and I work in ED in the NHS. If you've nothing nice to say...dont say anything at all

It's better to have it on record tbf. More on record if you still suffer with miscarriages they will likely help you

I cannot believe that someone who works in the ED of a hospital doesn't think that the OP is wasting NHS time.

Come off it. If a woman came to your ED and said that her period was a couple of days late and that she was spotting, where would you put her as far as triage is concerned?

scoobycute · 03/01/2023 18:00

@TheShellBeach ?? But she didn't go to ED?! That's like saying if I went to my GP with a cough where would I be triaged if I went to ED with a cough??!

My issue with your comment is not so much the context but more so so how incredibly insensitive and rude it was given the background of what OP has experienced.

what a weird take

She didn’t go to A&E. She called her GP. Which is absolutely fine

the burden on the nhs does not come from women who may need to be referred for an ultrasound to check there is no pregnancy tissue or may need ongoing monitoring

OP has a history of miscarriage, if your history is what you say it is- you should know the importance of getting your pregnancies documented (however early they were lost) as you need three instances of pregnancy loss to get NHS help. If OP doesn’t call her GP there is no record for this

if I didn’t call my GP about my chemical pregnancies and get them documented, I wouldn’t be sat here feeding my DD

1000yellowdaisies · 03/01/2023 18:50

Ignore the negative comments Op, some people have chips on their shoulders for no logical reason. I work in the NHS and even if i didn't its obvious its issues are not related to people needing occasional advice for pregnancy related problems. For one of my pregnancies i did end up in hospital for management of a miscarriage so it can sometimes be absolutely necessary. See how your bleeding goes, hopefully it sticks to spotting.
Keep us updated with how you get on.

cgwx · 03/01/2023 18:53

@TheShellBeach couple of days? Im nearly a week late now which NEVER and by never i actually mean NEVER happens to me. Its not normal for my body to be this late, thus pregnancy testing, thus super faint line thinking there could potentially be something wrong, thus leaving it a bit to find spotting, thus then leaving it to see how it progresses over night to then feeling the NEED to contact my GP. My GP surgery who has 5 doctors on at a time i may add who do emergency day appointments. Its what it is for, getting seen that day. History and medication ALSO added to the NEED to contact the GP because i knew if anything wasn’t documented and i needed to go elsewhere later down the line it isn’t documented. It’s not effecting your day to day life and it isn’t going to effect you getting support from the NHS when you need it so why are you so concerned? you need to get a grip and get off your keyboard and give your fingers a break from the bashing. Cannot be dealing with insensitive people. And just to add - GP told me if i get abdominal pain or lower back pain to contact her back immediately… i wouldn’t have known to do that if i hadn’t have called. It was. 2 minute conversation, 4 at most. Its hardly sitting there for an hour holding people up with illnesses. I was always told that its better to have all your medical history documented no matter how minor you think it is… thats how patterns and bigger pictures are formed into potential bigger diagnosis’s. I suggest you don’t comment again or i‘ll report you. Nobody wants it and nobody needs it.

@1000yellowdaisies i know theres always a few that walk among us 🤷🏻‍♀️. I wouldn’t mind but i’m literally minding my own and just updating the thread as changes occur as i feel it will help people who may come across the post in the future and think “this is happening to me” you know what i mean? I had similar to you - 10 weeks and i started heavy bleeding out of nowhere to the point i was constantly bleeding and needing to chuck tissues in the bath it was that heavy. Went absolutely everywhere and was so frightening. I called my mom out of work as she was closest and then she went and got my now husband from work and took my then toddler daughter with her. Phoned 111 to ask them what to do due to the amount of blood i was losing and feeling faint and hot. Was told to go to A&E and they then took me to triage and i had to have ‘procedures’ and a scan to ensure everything had come away. Knocked me off my feet for days. So sometimes like you say it is absolutely necessary

OP posts:
cgwx · 06/01/2023 10:40

Update for the post (incase this helps anyone in the future who comes across this thread) - the potting continued on and off for a few days, then yesterday i started to bleed heavier and today got menstrual like pains across my sides and lower back with heavier bleeding. so i've had a chemical pregnancy and i have added it onto my medical history at the doctors. the GP has confirmed that anything like this, no matter how big or small it seems... it should be on medical records as its valuable information for in the future.

thanks for all the comments and support on the post! x
