Pregnant? Don't know what to do

Hey, around 3 weeks ago I had sex with someone, we're not together but we've been I guess friends with benefits for a while. We used a condom but after he pulled out we saw it was split and I went to the toilet as soon as we saw. On the 12th, a day or two after I expected my period, I started bleeding, it was a lot lighter than my usual period but over the next 3 days it got heavier so I assumed it was my period. It stopped yesterday which is unusual for me as well as it normally lasts about 5 days not 3. I've done 2 clearblues, one yesterday which is a dark blue line but it's thinner than the control line, and one about an hour ago which is faint but definitely there. I feel like I'm kind of in denial, I'm 17 turning 18 in march and I can't really get my head around it, I keep telling myself they're faulty tests but I don't think two of them would coincidentally be false positives. I also did a hcg strip test when I was on my 'period' and there was a faint line but I thought it wasn't really one because obviously I thought I was on my period. I don't really know what to do and I keep thinking to myself that they're faulty but deep down I know that it's probably not.

With the bleeding, cramps and tests getting lighter it sounds like a chemical pregnancy to me (early miscarriage) where it hasn't implanted fully so doesn't go on to develop into an embryo.

Usually you would expect lines on pregnancy tests to get darker over 48 hour periods as the HCG (pregnancy hormone) tends to double every 48 hours in a healthy viable pregnancy. If the lines are getting lighter then it sounds like the levels of HCG are decreasing rather than increasing.

Some will say that you can't use pregnancy tests to indicate levels of HCG but I've had two pregnancies now and in each I've tested and the lines have got darker as time has progressed. There are plenty of threads on here where test lines get lighter over the course of a few days and almost every time it's down to a loss.

If it is a chemical I'm sorry for your loss OP but would echo others on the thread about safe sex. Possibly you could have an implant? I had one for 12 years and had no issues!

It might be but also every time I've tested it's been light in the morning and darker at night I don't know why that is maybe because I drank a whole bottle of water before bed last night I'll do another one later but maybe it was chemical idk

That's interesting but I was the same, my first urine of the day led to lighter tests. Are the tests later in the day getting darker as the days go by?

Anon2792 · 17/12/2022 12:28

Im not sure I need to get more and do them later I'm going out at about 3 so I'll probs do one at about 4 and I'll hold my pee until then bc I just went toilet so that should work ?

These are all my tests I've done recently from oldest to most recent and my camera doesn't really pick it up because is an Alcatel bc my iPhone is broken but in person they're a lot more visible

These were what my tests looked like when they were lighter in the mornings but darker in the evenings - the trend was still darker over 48 hours.

Are you checking those tests within the time frame? Just want to check they aren’t evap lines as I’ve heard that the clear blue tests are infamous for them! It happens where the line doesn’t show up within the time frame of 5 or so minutes (however long it is for those tests) but shows later on x

Yeah all of them showed up in time I'll try and get pink ones not clear blue ones later

Just done a test and it's very faint almost nothing there so what's going on because I thought the first pee of the day would be stronger

When I had a lightly coloured positive, I also had horrid cramps and bleeding that followed a couple of days later. It was a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage). I am currently pregnant and I had a dark line when my period was 2 days late.

Honestly, it doesn’t sound like you have the best setup right now for yourself, let alone a child. You are 17, estranged from your family, live in supported accommodation, not in a stable relationship, and not in a stable job. You have a dream of going to university so you can have a good job and a better life. You’ll struggle with that unless you have close family.

@Anon2792 have you taken anymore tests?

MamboJamboWambo · 20/12/2022 19:11

You are romanticising this a lot. You are talking about "not getting pissed with mates" and "smoking drugs". You still sound like a child and I don't think you're in the best position to have and raise a baby. You have your whole life ahead of you and time to have a baby. I don't think having an accident with your "fuck buddy" is really the best scenario.

Can I just say , one thing in life is ABSOLUTE... You can NEVER be a 'little bit pregnant' .

You are pregnant and have a decision to make...

NalaNana · 27/12/2022 20:10

@Anon2792 how are you getting on? X
