And I’m terrified!
Has anyone had their baby this early and were they okay? I’ve been induced before at 38 weeks but due to a scan today he’s tailing growth and low fluid around him so they want me there in the morning to be induced. He was 5lb5oz today but I know they can be out, panicking he’s going to be a tiny 3 pounder! Experiences and handhold please 🙏🏼

Thank you! Did they need any extra care? Or have to stay in longer than a full term baby?

My friend was induced with twins at exactly 36 weeks- both 5lb, no extra care needed. Good luck!

clareykb · 17/11/2022 20:14

My twins were born at 35 +6 by planned cs as they were in a odd position and shared a placenta. We were in scbu and then postnatal for a week in total with jaundice and establishing feeding. They were 5lb6 and 5lb7 ...they are now very lanky 9 year olds!

Hellno44 · 17/11/2022 20:18

My friend had her baby at 31 weeks. She is now a amazingly bright, bilingual, funny 4 year old. A little small but perfect.

My cousin had triplets at 29 weeks. They are now 5. The ones that were bigger (2lbs) are doing great. The smallest (1lb 4) has some health issues but is here and happy.

I hope you have a good delivery and everything goes well. I'll be thinking of you.

Babababy1 · 17/11/2022 20:19

Thank you all so much, really reassuring! Glad I ordered tiny baby clothes now as a precaution! Aahhh, I having a baby tomorrow!!

Not induced, but scheduled section with my first was a similar time. She was 5lb 5oz exactly. She was fine. Have they given you some steroid injections? The only thing they normally worry about is lung development I think, and even then they would be able to help baby with all of that on NICU if necessary. Good luck, baby and you will be fine x

I was induced at 37+0 due to my waters breaking at 35 weeks.

She was absolutely fine. Slightly jaundiced so we stayed in hospital a couple of days but she didn't actually need treatment for it. Other than that all good. She's 6 months now, smiling away, sitting up unsupported and loving solid foods!

KitchenSupper · 17/11/2022 20:29

I had a section for vasa previa at 36w, he was 5 lb and was fine. Sleepy until the due date but not much more.
I was born a bit earlier than that myself and never had any after effects.

Sallyh87 · 17/11/2022 20:30

I was induced at 37 weeks (so just one more day than you), for me the induction didn’t work and I had a c section. The whole process was very straightforward and calm. Midwives were great, doctors were great all in all a lovely experience.

MyDD was perfect and didn’t need any extra help when born. She did have a bit of jaundice so we stayed in hospital for a few days but that could happen at any gestation.

Good luck xx

Nix32 · 17/11/2022 20:31

My son was born at exactly 37 weeks - waters broke spontaneously. All fine. 37 weeks is classed as full term, so you're pretty much there.

Brbreeze · 17/11/2022 20:33

My waters broke and DD arrived within 12 hours at 36+6! A very decent 6lb 15oz.

TroubleOverBridgedWater · 17/11/2022 20:36

Mine was born at 35+6, 4lb 12oz (teeny!) Discharged after two days!
He's now a strapping two year old toddler haha.
All will be fine! Good luck.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 17/11/2022 20:36

37 weeks is considered full term. All will be fine.

KitchenSupper · 17/11/2022 20:39

This won’t have any impact on the outcome, but 37 weeks is no longer considered full term. Baby will be fine though

BigScreen · 17/11/2022 20:43

Both mine were born at 36 weeks by induction. Both fine and home the next day.

Good luck

Nosleepclub14 · 17/11/2022 20:45

I was induced at 37 weeks exactly with my little girl due to tailing growth and possible IUGR.
She weighed 5lb 15oz, the scan the day before suggested she was 5lb 8oz. So your little one may weigh a bit more/less than they’ve said!
DD was little bit jaundice but didn’t need any extra support. And had caught up to 50th centile within a few months and is still around that at nearly 4 years old!

Good luck! Fingers crossed for a speedy induction x

AliceS1994 · 17/11/2022 20:49

The odds are overwhelmingly in your favour that you and bub will both be absolutely fine. Try and get some rest and focus on some things to be excited if you can. Congratulations!

Babababy1 · 17/11/2022 21:05

Thank you all. I’ve re done our bags a million times and got the kitchen and bathroom scrubbed (again🤣) don’t think I’ll be getting any sleep as adrenaline is through the roof right now! Not great as I’m going to need all my energy for tomorrow!! Surreal getting the kids to bed and knowing next time I’ll see them will be with their little brother (have to leave about 6 as hospital is a bit of a drive)!

Emergency section at 36 weeks and got a 6lb er. Went down to 5 -4oz but absolutely fine. He’s 19 now.

octoberfarm · 17/11/2022 21:20

My littlest guy was born at 36w0d and was absolutely fine (he was also a whopping 7lbs 4oz!), with no need for NICU or anything. Hope it goes really well for you OP Flowers

No :) we were discharged the next day. Baby was around 6lb.

DelilahBucket · 17/11/2022 22:06

DS arrived at 37 weeks on the dot, after two days of labour. He was fine. 2.5kg exactly and he had a little jaundice but that soon cleared up, and no lasting effects. He's nearly 15 now.
