Hi so yeah I'm 28 weeks pregnant and freaking out a little. Basically I mixed my husbands glass for mine and ended up taking a sip from his which was alcoholic without realising before it was too late. I think I've worried myself so much, to a point where I have been physically sick.

Do I need to be worried or should everything be okay?

OP posts:
WowserBowser · 10/11/2022 20:09

It will be absolutely fine!

Icecreamandapplepie · 10/11/2022 20:09

Are you serious?

Rosesandteacups · 10/11/2022 20:09

You had a sip? You have nothing to worry about

havingabubble · 10/11/2022 20:10

One sip? You and baby will be completely fine!! Xx

BattenburgDonkey · 10/11/2022 20:10

Of course everything will be fine, it’s one sip! And it has to go through your body and blood stream and cross the placenta being diluted along the way, just remind yourself that the baby hasn’t taken the sip, the baby is actually very well protected. So try not to stress. However I’d possibly speak to the midwife if you are feeling this anxious generally to see if they can help with that in any way.

Hugasauras · 10/11/2022 20:10

One sip? And you've been so frantic you've made yourself throw up?

Calm down, OP. A sip is nothing.

USaYwHatNow · 10/11/2022 20:10

Hey, midwife here! You'll be absolutely fine. Please do not worry about a single sip of a mixed alcoholic drink.

AverageMillennial · 10/11/2022 20:10

there’s really nothing to worry about. I have severe health anxiety and even I wouldn’t worry about that - please try relax Smile

CristinaNov182 · 10/11/2022 20:11

Yes, you should be worried. Not for the sip of alcohol, but for your mental health.

If this is not in jest, I suggest you ask your midwife for mental help services.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/11/2022 20:12

Serially? 🙄

EarringsandLipstick · 10/11/2022 20:12

Or even ...

Seriously? 🙄

LittleBearPad · 10/11/2022 20:13

You will be fine, so will the baby. Obviously!

Intersmellar · 10/11/2022 20:13

I understand the pregnancy anxiety completely, it’s not rational but please believe everyone here- a sip of alcohol is not going to have any impact on the baby.

Winterfires · 10/11/2022 20:15

If this is serious can I gently suggest you talk to someone about your health anxiety

MolliciousIntent · 10/11/2022 20:15

You need to speak to your midwife urgently about your mental health. This is a completely disproportionate response and needs to be discussed with a professional ASAP.

Justcallmebebes · 10/11/2022 20:16

It's not all that long ago that women were prescribed a bottle of stout or Guinness regularly whilst pregnant so no harm will come to you or your baby

tickticksnooze · 10/11/2022 20:19

We're talking about alcohol not bleach or cyanide, right?

You're being ridiculous.

Cw112 · 10/11/2022 20:20

Like a drop in the ocean op. Don't give it another thought.

Thomaslovesalison · 10/11/2022 20:20

Don't be silly. Please.

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/11/2022 20:21

It's a sip.

DrWhitWho · 10/11/2022 20:21

Jesus christ

get a bloody grip

SirenSays · 10/11/2022 20:21

Worrying to the point of vomiting will be more harmful than a sip of a mixed drink. Try to relax.

drpepperwhatstheworstthatcouldhappen · 10/11/2022 20:23

Is this a wind up?

MakkaPakkas · 10/11/2022 20:27

When I was pregnant in 2007/8 official advice was no more than 2 units twice a week. I had far less than that (about 3 glasses of wine throughout the whole pregnancy). Both my kids are fine healthy teenagers.
They only changed the guidance because they didn't think women understood what a unit was.
You and your baby will be fine

toastedcat · 10/11/2022 20:29

Oh for gods sake.
