Hi so yeah I'm 28 weeks pregnant and freaking out a little. Basically I mixed my husbands glass for mine and ended up taking a sip from his which was alcoholic without realising before it was too late. I think I've worried myself so much, to a point where I have been physically sick.

Do I need to be worried or should everything be okay?

Ridiculous. Have a full glass. It might relax you a bit!

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 10/11/2022 20:31

Don't make yourself sick that's crazy! It's one sip!

Sisisimone · 10/11/2022 20:32

Why on earth would you think this was a problem? This can't be real surely

welshweasel · 10/11/2022 20:33

I had a glass of wine once or twice a week after the first trimester! You'll be fine

Georgeskitchen · 10/11/2022 20:38

You will be fine. Even if you drank the whole glass.
Your baby will be fine

CanYouFeelMyHeart · 10/11/2022 20:44

Even if an actual baby ended up with one sip of alcohol there would be no need for panic.

LemonSwan · 10/11/2022 20:49

A sip is fine. I was pregnant over Xmas so had a champagne spritzer or Buck’s Fizz here and there.

Its a quantity/ frequency thing. Didn’t worry about it at all.

I wouldn’t mess about with the one taste unlucky things like unpasteurised listeria that can make babe blind or anything like that. But alcohol isn’t that

Skinnermarink · 10/11/2022 20:54

If you’re not having a bit of a laugh I think you might need a bit of help for anxiety.

FWIW, I drank a glass of wine at seven months pregnant. On purpose.

CloudybutMild · 10/11/2022 20:55

I really hope that this is not intended to be a serious thread.

OP, if it is, you may be having issues with anxiety that would benefit from being discussed with your GP.

Skinnermarink · 10/11/2022 20:57

Yeah I cannot fathom how someone could get worked up about a sip of wine. A sip!

WednesdaysChild11 · 10/11/2022 20:59

You're fine. Have some water to "dilute" it if it helps your anxiety..

LoveBluey · 10/11/2022 21:02

As everyone else has said one sip is just nothing at all.
The worry and stress will do much more harm.

DemBonesDemBones · 10/11/2022 21:06

I think you'd do well to have a small glass of wine and calm down.

RambamThankyouMam · 10/11/2022 21:20

What damage do you honestly think ONE fecking sip of alcohol will do? Seriously?

LaughingCat · 10/11/2022 21:24

Oh, bless you! Of course it’s fine. They mean ‘don’t drink every night or go on a bender’. The odd bit here and there won’t do any harm - your stress levels are probably worse for them!

VladmirsPoutine · 10/11/2022 21:26

I don't know I'd probably call an ambulance if I were you.

Verbena87 · 10/11/2022 21:28

Probably a similar amount of alcohol as you’d find in a ripe banana. You’re fine.

Lcb123 · 10/11/2022 21:30

I think being that stressed and being sick is higher risk, please talk to your midwife about your mental health. Lots of women have the odd drink whilst pregnant particularly near the end

FarrahMoon · 10/11/2022 21:32

Some people on this thread are being very unkind.

Op, please try not to worry. One sip won't harm your baby. It will be OK.

Milesty1 · 10/11/2022 21:32

I drank wine towards the end of my pregnancy, just a glass here or there with dinner. They say no alcohol because they can’t trust everyone to treat it sensibly. You’re fine with a sip! Deffo agree that maybe you need to check out your anxiety with the GP or your midwife?

It was the same when I was worried that one of my children may have seen a man on television with his shirt off, and I was asking if social services might get involved.

Very little support there either.

Greeneyegirl · 10/11/2022 21:46

Jesus, ive actually done this 3 times and im 28 weeks (problem with all the non alcoholic options nowadays is that you put down your glass of nosecco and dont realise you've picked up a friends prosecco until youve had a sip!) hasnt even crossed my mind to worry. I was drunk a week before my positive test anyway!

Greybutterfly · 10/11/2022 21:48

You need to contact your midwife early. This level of anxiety is what you need to be worried about and the effect this is having on your baby

Are you taking the piss? I seriously can no longer tell what’s parody on here.

Indeed I am, as, I hope, the OP is.
