I am at week 9 of pregnancy and ever since week 5 it has been hell, vomiting and nausea, its my first pregnancy and I was really happy and over the moon to find out I'm having a baby, but so far I'm hating being pregnant, I always imagined myself having a big family but I feel like this has put me off having more kids, anyone else felt like this?

Yep I vomited until week 24, nausea so bad I couldn't do anything. I couldn't do another pregnancy 😥

Riceyyyy · 16/10/2022 20:00

@SantaOnFanta gosh I really hope I don't go all the way to week 24 vomiting 😭 I can't do anything either everytime I stand up It makes me want to vomit, and usually I'm up and about, can't wait till my baby is born 😭

I HATED pregnancy!! I found my first pregnancy so traumatic that I never wanted to do it again and was considering surrogacy for dc2.
When I found out I was pregnant a second time, I was devastated and had therapy to cope.
Thankfully my second pregnancy was nowhere near as bad as my first.
DH got the snip immediately after dd2 arrived though 😂

AutumnLea · 16/10/2022 20:07

Still early days yet. Both of my first trimesters were absolutely vile. Horrific sickness with DD and then crippling fatigue with DS.

Once I got past 12 weeks both pregnancies were a breeze.

NoHeavenNoMore · 16/10/2022 20:09

Do not fear! My morning sickness subsided at 10-11 weeks and never reared its ugly head again!
Good luck Flowers

Stickstickstickstickstick · 16/10/2022 20:15

I was sick from 5w6d to delivery at 39w4d, but I was particularly unlucky with HG - there’s quite literally a 97-99% chance that you won’t have as terrible a time as that!

Early pregnancy is absolutely shit, though. You have my sympathy. I found that Rice Krispies were good for breakfast - they’re fortified with vitamins for the 10 mins they spend inside your stomach and they come back as easily as they slide down 😂

Doowop1919 · 16/10/2022 20:15

I don't like being pregnant. I wouldn't even say I had it "that bad". I had food aversion and nausea until 16 weeks but never threw up. Exhaustion, awful carpal tunnel, heartburn. I also find it difficult to bond with the baby when pregnant. I don't know why. But well my son came along and he's been a pretty good addition to the family, so here I am 24 weeks pregnant with my second! I still don't like being pregnant but I feel I'm just getting on with it this time knowing it all goes faster than it feels and it'll be over before I know it (although that doesn't help at all in the moment, I know!)

justanotherlaura · 16/10/2022 20:16

I really haven't enjoyed being pregnant at all but the second trimester definitely was easier than the first. Third trimester brings different aches and pains but nothing has been as bad as the first trimester. I'm 39 weeks now and so ready for it to be over

Hope you feel better soon!

Cuppasoupmonster · 16/10/2022 20:22

Yep, im not a happy pregnant woman. Vomited with DD from week 7 to 24, 3 trips a night to the toilet that started in the fullest trimester and lasted to the end of the pregnancy, the hormones also give me a really low mood for some reason. This pregnancy has been even worse (15 weeks) - have full blown hypermesis controlled by medication, more toilet trips, general feeling of being unwell, more stuff I could bore you with. I also have the full array of ‘mild pregnancy complications’ - rhesus negative blood, I’m on antidepressants (have been for years but not ready to come off them), aspirin for a blood issue, I’ll be induced at 37 weeks again… on and on.

The upside is that I have a great few weeks when the baby is born as all the bad hormones leave me and I can control my bladder again.

Whereas the happy pregnant women I know were all in tears and ‘missing their bump’.

Chin up!

Coybubbles · 16/10/2022 20:27

Yup pregnancy is a hellish experience! I think the first trimester is by far the worst.

By about 20-24 weeks when you’ve had the anomaly scan and can feel baby moving it gets quite exciting and enjoyable for a while, and the sickness should be over by then unless you’re unlucky.

it then gets bad again with all the aches and pains and night wakings but by then you’ll be so desperate to not be pregnant anymore you won’t be bothered about how awful giving birth can be!
🤣

its true that it IS all worth it in the end and if you’re like me you will eventually forget the truly bad bits and might even do it again!

Sparklythings1 · 16/10/2022 20:33

I thought I would hate it but it actually turned out okay, by far the worst bit was the first 12 weeks. My sickness stopped within days of my 12 week scan then I was completely fine. It didn’t get at all hard after that until I was physically big which was a good 3 months later. Just get through the next month and you’ll be in a better place hopefully

DuckTails · 16/10/2022 20:39

Literally just came to start a similar thread. I’m 8 weeks. Fortunately not throwing up (especially as I’m a Type 1 diabetic so that would be even more of a nightmare) but awful nausea, aversions, especially to smell, and excess saliva. I am struggling to get through each day.

i fucking hate it

Flowersflowers121 · 16/10/2022 21:20

Omg same. I've got my 12 week scan on Tuesday and just praying the sickness stops sometime in the next few days. I've been sick at least 4 times every day since week 5. And that's 4 times running to the toilet bowl, and spending the next 5-10 minutes repeatedly throwing up each time :(

I'm miserable with it and no medication has worked for me, and just made me more drowsy. I feel so bad to be complaining because I know I'm so lucky after a precious loss, but I'm really struggling with it :( everyday feels awful

Rosegold3112 · 16/10/2022 21:24

Oh yes I can totally sympathise! Pregnant with my second currently and 11 weeks. Luckily the nausea has started to settle and hopefully yours will soon too. I've got early gestational diabetes and it's been awful trying to balance foods that help with the nausea but won't send my blood glucose levels high. It's just been about surviving. It has literally sucked any joy out of pregnancy and I want to be sterilised after this baby comes so I never have to do this again lol

Riceyyyy · 16/10/2022 21:29

@Flowersflowers121 hopefully will get better for u soon! I've also been throwing up alot but mainly everytime I eat so I try to eat small like half a sandwich because if I eat a full sandwich it sends me running to get sick but the last 2 days I have been horrendous, can't get out of bed and I've just spent half an hour crying My eyes out because I'm so miserable

I know what you mean, I’m not sick (thank god) but my mood is really low and I am annoyed by everyone and everything. It was the same in my first pregnancy as well so I don’t know why I forgot this!

Like @DuckTails , I’m also a type 1 diabetic and the constant worrying about perfect blood sugars is very tiring!

Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to moan!

greenerfingers · 16/10/2022 22:10

My first I felt like that then I lost it second trimester and I really felt the loss even more after the traumatic pregnancy. Second time I mentally told myself it'll be hard but worth having a baby in the end. Changing my outlook accepting it will not be all flowers and daisies really helped. I felt wretched till 17 weeks and then the sickness eased and I also started to feel baby move. I got severe pelvic girdle pain later in pregnancy but it was all worth it and much easier than first trimester. I'm pregnant again and it's even harder but I look at my first and tell myself I'll be having another of those for a lifetime vs 9 months torture.

Poppybloom55 · 17/10/2022 11:11

I haven’t enjoyed pregnancy (currently 39+4 with my first). My symptoms started in week 5 and I had daily sickness until week 17 where the doctor then prescribed me with anti sickness tablets.
If I didn’t take them, the sickness just came back and this was the case until the third trimester where it does now seem to have stopped on it’s own!
The sickness can be so draining and mine varied a lot. Some days I would be sick once in the morning and other days I would be bed bound and if would just go on and on all day!
Sorry to say I haven’t much enjoyed it beyond this point either lol! I’ve suffered quite badly with bladder leakage and I’ve had severe constipation all the way through. The midwives and doctors are great and they’ve prescribed things to help but it hasn’t been a nice experience! Like you I’ve already been telling myself I won’t be doing it again lol!
I am due this week though and I am sure I will feel it was all worth it when he does eventually show up :-)

Daisychainsx · 17/10/2022 12:24

I was sick as a dog until week 12, I'm now at week 22 and with a bump and lots of kicks it's like that first trimester never happened! I suppose it's like that amnesia affect that women who have given birth talk about, it's awful at the time but worth it in the end. For me anyway! Some women just don't like being pregnant and there's nothing wrong with that! I hope the sickness subsides and you are able to enjoy some parts of your pregnancy!

AndTwoFilmsByFrancoisTruffaut · 17/10/2022 15:17

First trimester was hell on earth. Terrible nausea, reaching in meetings and having to run to the loo to be sick. Utter, utter hell.

Then at 14 weeks it stopped and I’ve had an easy second and third trimester. I’m nearly 47 yrs old so wasn’t expecting an easy ride but it’s been fine. Can’t say I have enjoyed being pregnant as my baby kicks me v hard and sometimes it’s excruciating but all in all, I’ve been lucky. Too old to have another but in all honesty, I’m glad that decision has been taken out of my hands because I would never go through the purgatory that is the first trimester ever again. One will be amply sufficient 😊

Riceyyyy · 17/10/2022 15:36

@AndTwoFilmsByFrancoisTruffaut God I hops mine stops soon! I've been bed bound 2 days vomiting non stop Dr prescribed me new medication I don't know what its called yet I suppose i will find out when I pick it up from the chemist but i only have to take it once a at night, everu day so it must be strong because the cyclizine i had to take 3 times a day but that didn't work

OP posts:
Cuppasoupmonster · 17/10/2022 15:53

Is it promethazine (phernergen)? It worked for me but be warned it’s a strong sedative

Riceyyyy · 17/10/2022 15:57

@Cuppasoupmonster I don't know yet my neighbour is picking it up on her way back from work for me the Dr did say that I'm supposed to take at night because it makes u very drousy so does it last all the next day if i take at night?

OP posts:
Flowersflowers121 · 17/10/2022 16:46

I had phernagen and it didn't stop me being sick at all, and made me VERY tired. Could barely wake up in the morning, so yes, def take at night haha hope it works better for you on your nausea than me <3

Riceyyyy · 17/10/2022 16:47

@Cuppasoupmonster yes it is promethazine
